  1. If you are borrowing a ship. You need to know the restock expectations of the owner.
  2. To find that you click on the wheel, and select Officer Bulletin Board.
  3. When you buy a ship, it is a good idea to fill this in.
  4. Then you need to know what the ship has onboard. To do this click on the hold, then “inspect the hold”
  5. From this screen you can see what is in your hold. You can also transfer goods from ship to ship or ship to stall, or ship to pirate (provided you have proper access to both places)
  6. You do that by entering the number of items you want to transfer in the “transfer” column of the item you want to transfer and then putting the name in the window to the right.
  7. Default is vessel to vessel but you can get other options by selecting from the drop down menu.
  8. From here you can buy supplies as needed by clicking the “Buy/Sell Commodities” tab and scrolling down to the item you need.
  9. The list is sorted by buyer offered prices but you want to find the cheapest seller to buy from. So select “Sell price” at the top of the page.
  10. Then you would click on the least expensive seller for your item. This should cause the two grey boxes at the bottom of your screen should turn white.
  11. The top box is for the number of units of that item that you want to buy. The bottom box is for the number of units you want to sell.
  12. After you enter the number of units you would click the buy or sell buttons on the right.
  13. The market bidding tab is if you want to buy future production of the materials that spawn on the island that you are at.
  14. Also, when you click the ships hold you will get a selection for “view vessel records”. This can be used to let people know who bought, sold, won or lost any items or money from the hold.
  15. Once you have your supplies, you need to chart your couse. If you click the ship’s wheel you will see “Chart a course”.
  16. When you select that you will see map of Your known world show up. You can know parts of the world in 2 ways. You either have a chart or you have memorized all the league points (LP) of the route.
  17. If you have a chart and have not memorized the lp they will appear to be blueish in color. If you have memorized them they are brownish in color.
  18. The difficulty of the route is shown by the darkness of the color. Admiral to Kent is harder than Bryher to Lincoln.
  19. You select your route either by selecting the destination island or by selecting each LP you want to cross and then click the island at the end. When you have set your route, click “Chart Course.”
  20. Once your course is set it is time to decide how hard your pilly will be. So, from the wheel select “Configure Voyage.”
  21. Here is where you select your voyage, if a pilly, you set the difficulty by the two slides towards the top. You can also chose to have only sf (brigands), only rumbles (Barbarians) or a mix of the 2 (default setting).
  22. You can also select pvp if you want to by checking “attack player vessels.”
  23. The other selections are pretty much self-evident. If you have any questions about them, ask.
  24. Once you are at sea the only selection you can chose is “evading”. This might come in handy if you get creamed in a battle and just want to limp back to shore.
  25. Then from the wheel, Select “manage Jobbers.” From here you will take charge by selecting it. You can then put in a massage to be displayed on the Notice board.
  26. Take charge and put “Training Mission” in the block
  27. At the top of the block is one place you can set your job announcement to show up on the board. You can also chose to Hire swabbies if you just want to solo your ship.
  28. You can also call all hands by selecting that. When you select all hands, you want to be sure to not steal other crewbies crews. So you want to deselect “in Battle” and “in port/Sailing” before you actually call all hands.
  29. Lastly, in the window to the right, you can get people to stations. If you select “vessel” you can click on any bot or pirate and you will see the selections to order them to a station.
  30. Order me to gunning.
  31. If you want to give a general order, (more or less people on a station) select the station and you will have that option.
  32. If the station is empty, (right now we have no sailors) you can click the lazing symbol and you will get a choice of stations.
  33. Of course, the best way to get someone to take or leave a station is to ask them in vessel chat or with a /tell.
  34. If you need to get rid of someone who refuses to cooperate, you would use “/plank name.” So plank me, I’m obnoxious.
  35. To use officer chat, type “/o message” and to use fleet officer type “/fo message”
  36. /o Officer chat.
  37. /fo Fleet officer chat.
  38. To see all the possible chats, just type “/” and enter. You will not be able to use all the chats but you will be able to use some. Feel free to experiment some time.
  39. So, chart us to Wendsleydale, set the difficulty to as easy as possible, and get us some jobbers.
  40. Let’s do a short pilly. Oh, and you are in charge.
  41. When in battle you put in your moves (max 4 per turn) and you can shoot right, left, or both ways on any move. This ship has only 4 cannons so use them wisely.
  42. Try to anticipate what the other ship will do and maneuver so that you can shoot them without getting hit.
  43. In the right hand window you will see your damage and bilge indicators also your number of moves and cannon available. You need to move your people around as needed.
  44. Like a real ship, the more bilge you have, the slower the ship will move.
  45. The more damage you have, the quicker bilge will fill.
  46. The better the d’nav (duty Navigation) is the better everyone else will do.
  47. Good rule of thumb is get down damage first then bilge and then build up speed. If you have good d’nav all the processes will go faster.
  48. After that, all is practice. If you catch Rafaello on line, he can teach you worlds about B’nav. Truthfully, I am really not all that good.
  49. You can also practice by doing the “Battle brigands with the navy” mission on the Notice Board.
  50. Any questions?
