  1. Nightingale is a girl who really wants to be Sparrow's sidekick, but she's constantly turned down. Because Sparrow is a fairly aloof person, she thinks it's because of trust issues or that Sparrow doesn't like her, but it's because they look to her as an equal. Over the course of the story she would graduate from an eager tag-along to a full fledged partner. She has no powers, but she's extremely intelligent and her method of fighting is to use sonic waves generated from gauntlets she wears on her arms. Her visor also lets her see sonic waves, allowing her to "see" through walls and in the dark, etc.

  3. Crimson Sparrow is a two-spirit metahuman who gets the power of rapid cell regeneration from an exposed ore that was mined under the reserve they grew up on. It turns out there are places all over the world where this ore, which runs through the earth's crust and is known as "blood of the earth" or "sanguinite" and its highly radioactive and causes strange mutations to living things that come in contact with it, humans being particularly sensitive. They are actually the second Crimson Sparrow, the first was their Uncle, who used the identity as a political activist to protect his identity and family. Because of the rapid cell regeneration they have, Sparrow is extremely strong and extremely fast, having capabilities to build up muscle much more efficiently than normal humans.

  5. Coyote is a speedster, capable of running at supersonic speeds by distorting the flow of time around himself. He mostly uses this power to cause trouble and steal, seemingly selfish reasons, but it would be revealed he has a "pack" of streetkids he takes care of, making sure they're fed, warm, and have the best lives he can provide them. Generally, Sparrow is unsure how to handle him because obviously, stealing is against the law and they're a vigilante, and not all of the crimes Coyote commits are for the good of his pack. But if they were to hand him over to police, the kids would be without a provider, and this is what drives most of their conflicts and keeps Sparrow from getting him in jail.

  7. Wendigo is more of the classic monster who has some semblance of human inside. They are especially tricky because they don't always keep their monstrous form, and the persona of the Wendigo and the host are seemingly two different people. At first it would seem that Wendigo is just an extreme case of a Class A metahuman, but after it's defeated, and the host put away for murder, it's discovered the host's DNA is completely normal, and the Wendigo resurfaces and it's revealed that the monster itself is a spirit that infects people and transforms them into monsters to spread mayhem.

  9. Skinwalker is the foil of Crimson Sparrow, sort of the Lex Luthor to Sparrow's Superman, or the Joker to their Batman. He's extremely ancient, and long ago unlocked the forbidden magic of the Skinwalkers, and was granted immortality and the ability to transform his shape at will. His reach of power runs deep, as he's had plenty of time to get his roots into the city financially, politically, and even geologically, as it turns out most of the mining, drilling, and landscaping companies that have been uncovering veins of Sanguinite are owned by him and he's been purposefully looking for the ore since he became Skinwalker, but only now, with the available technology of the modern world, has been able to access and retrieve it.
