  1. >Night has fallen on Canterlot Palace, and with it, so have your chances of being discovered
  2. >For you are Anonymous
  3. >Thief extraordinaire
  4. >Sultan of stealth!
  5. >Prince of pilfering!
  6. >Archduke of appropriation!
  7. >And tonight, you are going to steal something very valuable
  8. >Ever since you came to this land of ponies, you'd been making a name for yourself with your daring heists
  9. >Not that the general public knew it was you, of course
  10. >The criminal underworld, however, had its suspicions
  11. >But as far as they knew, you were only the middleman
  12. >You were pretty good at covering your tracks
  13. >Before long, the more rich and morally dubious ponies would actively approach you
  14. >Looking to hire your "expert" for various tasks
  15. >Planting evidence, taking items, taking bits...
  16. >You kept a detailed list of your clientele and their tasks
  17. >Hey, they might be rich, but that doesn't mean they're smart
  18. >Unlike you, who sees the potential in having readily-available blackmail material
  19. >But this latest task was different
  20. >The client interacted with you through a third party
  21. >A middleman to talk to the middleman
  22. >You didn't mind, clients competent enough to keep their identity secret usually had the most interesting requests
  23. >This one was no exception
  24.
  25. >They wanted your "expert" to steal something from Canterlot Palace
  26. >You nearly lost your composure at the absurdity of the target
  27. >"Are you serious?", you had asked
  28. >"Very much so. Can your expert handle the job, or shall I go hire somepony else?"
  29. >"Heh. My expert can certainly handle your job. I just hope your employer knows what they're doing."
  30. >"Believe me, sir. My employer understands perfectly."
  31. >You snap back to reality
  32. >Can't keep daydreaming on the job, that's how you get sloppy
  33. >Getting sloppy means getting caught
  34. >And getting caught on a job like this is not an option
  35. >You check your gear
  36. >Got your utility gloves, your pack, your rope, some cloth strips, a few assorted potions (and... other medicines,) and a couple very special rings
  37. >You slip on your gloves
  38. >They're only useful possession you've got from your previous life
  39. >These gloves were fucking amazing
  40. >The enchantments on them let you grab and move stuff from a distance and even summon whatever you wanted out of them
  41. >You never needed to carry your set of lockpicks again, after acquiring those gloves
  42. >You stole them, of course
  43. >After all, you're the kind of thief who hates leaving empty-handed
  44. >You like to take something for yourself, once you've got your target
  45. >It usually made things more difficult, yes, but it also made them much more interesting
  46. >You melt into the shadows, avoiding the patrolling guards with ease
  47. >You move through the halls, effortlessly
  48.
  49. >Something bugged you, though
  50. >Was the palace's security really this terrible?
  51. >There were far less guards than you expected there to be
  52. >You made sure to pay extra attention to your surroundings
  53. >By the time you reached your destination, you knew something was definitely up
  54. >Standing at the door were two guardsponies, a unicorn and a pegasus
  55. >You needed to get through that door
  56. >...Good thing you had your gloves
  57. >You glance further up the hallway
  58. >That vase looks nice and distracting!
  59. >You grab it with the gloves and chuck it against the wall
  60. >The sound of the vase shattering causes the guards to spin in its direction
  61. >"What was that? Is somepony there?"
  62. >The unicorn's horn glows, and a light spell shoots over to where the vase used to be
  63. >"Great, another one broke. Go get the cleaners, would you, Smiles?"
  64. >The pegasus salutes, and flies off
  65. >One down, one to go
  66. >You silently make your way up to the remaining guard
  67. >You pull out a strip of cloth and grab your bottle of chloroform
  68. "Nighty-night."
  69. >The guard doesn't get a chance to do anything but take a nice, long, nap
  70. >You smile to yourself as you slip through the door
  71. >...And find yourself in Princess Celestia's bedchambers
  72.
  73. >Your target is finally in sight
  74. >You've stolen plenty of odd things before, in your time
  75. >Recipe books, food, clothing, bedsheets, pets...
  76. >None of those could compare to this job
  77. >Princess Celestia is sound asleep in her bed
  78. >You pull out your chloroform once more, as well as one of those special rings and some rope
  79. >Time to steal a princess
  80. >You slip the ring on her horn, preventing her from casting any magic
  81. >She stirs slightly, but doesn't seem to wake up
  82. >You grab the rope and tie down her wings
  83. >How the fuck is she still sleeping?
  84. >You work on tying her front legs together, and she lets out a short sigh
  85. >This doesn't feel right
  86. >Nothing should sleep through all this shit
  87. >You finish with her front legs and start on her hind legs
  88. >Then, it hits you. Oh, how clever of her
  89. >You finish tying her hind legs and move up to her head again
  90. >Her eyes are still closed, but her breathing seems to have picked up slightly
  91. >You pull out a few strips of cloth
  92. "You're a bad actress, Princess."
  93. >...And gag her with them
  94. >Her eyes shoot open
  95. "I'm not that stupid."
  96.
  97. >She looks a little disappointed
  98. "Somepony is paying good coin for me to steal you, you know. You should be honored."
  99. >The look of confusion on her face is priceless
  100. "You should probably go back to sleep now."
  101. >You give her some chloroform, and pull out a couple potions
  102. >You quaff two of them, feeling much lighter than usual and far stronger
  103. >Featherfall and Fortify Strength, never go on a job without 'em
  104. >You heft the unconscious Princess over your shoulder and walk out onto the balcony
  105. >Just a simple jump and a bit of a fall down, and you're home free
  106. >But you haven't gotten anything for yourself, this time
  107. >Can you pass up this opportunity?
  108. >You glance over to your right and notice another balcony
  109. >The other Princess' room is just next door, and the lights are off
  110. >Are you a bad enough dude to steal two Princesses at once?
  111. >Yes, you are
  112. >You hop on over to the other balcony, gently setting Celestia down
  113. >You're going to need both arms free to deal with Luna
  114. >You slip inside the room, finding Luna laying on her bed, reading a book
  115. >She looks up at you, a bored expression on her face
  116. >"It's about time you got here."
  117. >You freeze
  118. >"I've been waiting all night for you to come steal me."
  119.
  120. "What are you talking about?"
  121. >"I hired you to steal me, didn't I?"
  122. "Steal you?"
  123. >She frowns
  124. >"Were your instructions not clear?"
  125. >You facepalm
  126. "No. All I was told was to steal 'The Princess,' not you."
  127. >"I shall have to have a word with that guard."
  128. "He was a guard?!"
  129. >"Who else would I send? And anyway, if you're not here to steal me, what are you here for?"
  130. >She hops up off her bed and walks over to you
  131. "Well-"
  132. >She notices her sister's unconscious form on the balcony
  133. >She shoots you an angry look
  134. >"Really? My sister?"
  135. >She punches you with a hoof
  136. >"I have half a mind to decline your payment."
  137. >Time to think fast
  138. "If you want, I could still steal you."
  139. >She raises an eyebrow
  140. >"Oh? And what makes you think I would simply let you steal me after all this?"
  141. >You pull out some more rope and the other magic-inhibiting ring, behind your back
  142. "You're going to let me steal you, because you don't have any other choice."
  143. >"Is that so?"
  144. "Yep."
  145. >You slide the ring on her horn, and trip her
  146. >"Hey!"
  147. >You quickly tie her front legs together
  148. >"Stop it!"
  149. >And just as quickly, you tie her hind legs together
  150. >"This is highly inappropriate!"
  151. >You heft her over your shoulder
  152. "Am I going to have to gag you like I did your sister?"
  153. >"No, but-"
  154. "But nothing. You hired me to steal you, so I'm doing my job."
  155.
  156. >You walk out onto the balcony and heft Celestia over your other shoulder
  157. >You've got your target, your client, and your "bonus," now
  158. >Time to get to the dropoff point and complete the job
  159. >You leap from the balcony, letting the featherfall potion do its job
  160. >You land safely outside the castle walls, and jog off, into the mountains
  161. >Luna is mostly silent during the trip there
  162. >She does make the occasional comment about how nice it is to be outside the palace
  163. >She also makes a few comments about how you need to "Watch where you're putting those 'hands' of yours"
  164. >You eventually find the small cabin that served as your dropoff point
  165. >You set down both Celestia and Luna, just outside the cabin
  166. >"Well, despite your screw up, we're here. I suppose you can still be paid. Untie me and remove this... ring."
  167. >You hesitate
  168. "Not until you explain where all the guards went. That was way too easy."
  169. >"Gave them the night off, of course. Now would you please untie me?"
  170. "Makes sense, I guess. And you're not going to have me arrested or anything, are you? I was technically acting under your orders, you know."
  171. >Luna sighs
  172. >"No, you won't be arrested. Untie me."
  173. >You rub your chin
  174. "Hmmm... alright."
  175.
  176. >Luna smiles
  177. >"Finally! You know, you're not so bad for a common thief."
  178. >You smile back at her
  179. "Princess, I'm anything but common. Do you know why I didn't just leave with your sister?"
  180. >You glance over at Celestia, who is miraculously still sleeping
  181. >Confusion paints her face
  182. >"...No?"
  183. >You lean forward
  184. "I never leave a job without taking a little something extra for myself."
  185. >You give her a wink
  186. >She blushes and stammers
  187. >"Uh- um- what- er-"
  188. "Tell you what. We can forget about my payment for this job... if I can have you."
  189. >"Wh-what are you- are you asking me to- what?"
  190. "You want to have a little fun, Princess?"
  191. >Luna's eyes widen in surprise
  192. >"Um- I- ...Okay."
  193. >Celestia eventually woke up, and after you apologized and Luna explained what was going on, she decided not to banish you to the moon
  194. >You thanked her for her kindness
  195. >On the way back to the palace, you noticed her giving you a few odd looks
  196. >Luna later told you that her sister had a few... fetishes
  197. >Fetishes you may or may not have indulged when you tied her up
  198. >The palace was in an uproar over the disappearance of both Princesses
  199. >Everyone calmed down when you strode in with them
  200. >And true to Luna's word, you didn't get arrested
  201. >You did, however, decide to make this your last great heist... Almost
  202. >You stole one last thing before leaving the palace
  203. >A kiss from the Night.
