  1. Edit: Updated with results! (2016.06.07)
  2.
  3. With 3.3 just around the corner and Live Letter XXX just a day away, I figure I'd write down my predictions for the final set of crafting gear for the 3.x series.
  4.
  5. As they've stated, we're receiving one more set of crafting gear for this expansion. They said it will be omniclass, and it will be crafted. They also stated that they will be updating red scripts. So what does this all mean?
  6.
  7. Well, we need to figure out a couple of things. One is the iLevel for the gear. Second, is how the recipes will be acquired. Third, what items will be required to craft them. And last, is the stats required to craft it.
  8.
  9. First off, the iLevel. Presently the highest crafted gear is iLevel 170 and the red script gear is iLevel 180. Since this stuff is suppose to be better, it's pretty safe to assume it's going to be a higher iLevel. I predict that it'll either be iLevel 190 or iLevel 200, leaning more towards the latter. I have no reason to believe that it'll be i180, since the red script gear "won't go to waste".
  10. --------------
  11. Results: 195 for crafted tools, 190 for crafted gear, 200 for bought gear. Verdict: Right on the money.
  12. --------------
  13.
  14. Second, how will we get the recipes? Since the i170 gear is in the Master III books, it's pretty safe to say that these will be in the Master IV books. This will also give more worth to them, since almost all the stuff in there can't be crafted unless you're a specialist. This also ties into my idea for the third point.
  15. --------------
  16. Results: Master IV books confirmed. Verdict: Right on the money.
  17. --------------
  18.
  19. Third, what items will be required? Well, in 3.2, they added several items for gathering and crafting that seemingly served no purpose other than to "practice your rotation", but did elude to the fact that they "may be used later". I think now is the time to use them. They involve several 2* crafts that include nuggets, ingot, leather, cloth, wood, and alchemy ingredients that would work for creating full sets of gear. So I'm highly confident that these will be used for the final set of crafting gear.
  20. --------------
  21. Results: Some items mention high mythrite, which was crafted from Lumythrite Sand, which was related to the whole "practice your rotations" items. While the rest is unclear at this point, I think the rest will follow this trend. Verdict: Seems to be correct on tools, still unclear on gear.
  22. --------------
  23.
  24. Last, what stats will be required. Presently the i170 gear requires 2* stats to craft the components and the gear itself. While the items suspected to be needed for it are 2* (see point 3), I'm wondering if the new gear may require 3* stats to craft. The point of getting new gear is to challenge the player for new stuff while making older stuff easier. Since the crafts will likely be in the Master IV books (see point 2) which most of that, save for the few materials, are 3*, this makes me believe that 3* stats will be required. Thankfully, they've stated that crafting materia will get new methods of acquiring outside of airship ventures and spiritbonding (this is why they go for 10-20x that price of battle materia on most market boards). While they haven't stated the method, outside of "not via the Ixal Beast Tribe", the fact that they're making it easier to get this leads me to believe that because of this and how "easy" it is to get 2* right now (easy in that it doesn't require major overmelding, not easy in that it doesn't require a lot of work), 3* will likely be the target necessary to craft the new gear. The gear will NOT require specialist classes to craft though. I have no reason to believe they'll do that.
  25. --------------
  26. Results: 3* confirmed. New ways to get materia via Ixal (?), Splendor Vendor, and Moogle Tribes. Items do require specialist though to craft. Verdict: Mostly right on, though the stuff is specialist.
  27. --------------
  28.
  29. As for the note of "We'll also be updating red scrips" leads me to believe that they'll finally drop the cap on them, given that it takes an exceptionally long time to get what you need (3 weeks per tool, for instance), making it easier for people to be able to get to the point of being able to craft this new set.
  30. --------------
  31. Results: Easier to get, but not via removing the cap, but by allowing you to get supplies and 180 gear via blue scrips (which are uncapped) as opposed to red scrips. Verdict: Half-Right
  32. --------------
  33.
  34. Overall, I'm excited to see what the final gear will be. We know that 3.3 will come in early June, so probably June 6th (technically, 7th as that is when maintenance will end). I'm excited as to what the new gear will bring. We'll hopefully find out all the details on Sunday morning! See you then!
