  1. The pouring rain sticks his hair to his face. The sky once so bright, has faded to grey. He couldn't help but think that blessed were the days when life was intent and clear. No faltering or doubt, knowing the way. In the sky two titans clashed, the human female known as Stopwatch and the anomaly of this timeline empowered by sorcery. It might once have been a human but no longer. A twisted mass of muscle and flesh.
  2.
  3. What made it worse was that she was losing. Her vibrant singing voice had stopped, trying to conserve as much energy as possible. Targos couldn't help but grit his teeth, he'd been taken out of the fight early. It had been humiliating, the thing had come from nowhere and bodied him.
  4.
  5. He followed the shock-waves in the air as they battled back and forth, even he could see she was starting to flag. Every new hit taking its toll on her small body. Every thrown energy wave taking what little was left of her ki from her. He watched, and as he looked at her he remembered...
  6.
  7. ----------
  8. "Look, Mr. Targos, I did a thing!" She sounded so happy as she handed him what he would call an abomination. It was a picture, of him to be exact. Of multiple colours, and underneath was a small note in her chicken scratch hand writing. It read 'Dear Mr.Dr.Targos I coloured your picture for you. Your tail is red because you get angry lots and also my blue marker ran out so I made your pants purple because you shoot lasers
  9. -StopWatch~'
  10.
  11. He frowned, on one hand it wasn't exactly a picture anymore. On the other looking at her smiling with pride and happiness he couldn't bring himself to tell her how bad it was.
  12.
  13. "Very good, Stopwatch." He told her.
  14.
  15. "Aw yeah, hi five!" She exclaimed and it took all his considerable will power not to hiss and flinch as she took his hand and slapped his palm with her own.
  16.
  17. "Don't touch me." He muttered when she was done.
  18. -----------
  19.
  20. They were both going to die here. He felt. But maybe, just maybe he could flee. But would it be worth it? Would he give up and run today, just to die another day? No. It's easy to fly the white flag and and give up, but if he gave up now every fight he's had would be in vain.
  21.
  22. His teeth clenched, he began gathering energy, forcing his broken body to move, feeling the dull grinding of bones in his chest. Ahead of him Stopwatch was on her knees, panting, the time anomaly gloating and monologuing a few feet in front of her...
  23. ---------
  24.
  25. "Look Mr. Dr. Targos!" Stopwatch shouted in joy, handing him another drawing. This one was more cartoonish than the last. Some blank white spots unfilled. He frowned, thinking.
  26.
  27. "Thank you, you did a good job again, I'll put it on my fridge." He told her. And then regretted it, shuddering as she invaded his personal space and hugged him, cheering.
  28.
  29. "Thanks, that's so great!" she cheered.
  30.
  31. "Stop touching me..." He hissed at her.
  32. --------
  33.
  34. Could he let her die? Let himself die, again? all these thoughts and the answer raced through his mind as he watched her crouch there, scowling. Finally, all it took was a few seconds, he had all of his remaining energy, every last drop of it, gathered around his glowing palm.
  35.
  36. With a snarl he pulled his arm back, pushing his broken body up with his other arm and thrust his hand out towards Stopwatch. She began glowing with energy, startling with a gasp, he had poured every last ounce of power he had into her, he hadn't been able to use his ki, but she could now.
  37.
  38. "Get up, you've made it this far!" He shouted at her. "You're no loser, come on! One more time, one more try!" His voice was hoarse and he collapsed as his arm gave out. But he saw her rise to her feet, her face set in a bloody grin.
  39.
  40. "Thank you, Targos, I'll be sure to win this one for you!" She told him, for once using just his actual name. He groaned, closing his eyes as he lay there in the dirt. He was going to regret this later. But the small grin on his face told him it was all worth it.
