- Dropped:
- A small platter of seared tuna canape sits here, waiting to be consumed.
- Examined:
- Lined with a small paper napkin and slightly smaller than a common
- dinner plate, this platter has been filled with the perfect amount of
- canapes to make it a light, albeit filling, meal for any occasion.
- Crispy and golden brown, an artisan whole-grain cracker comprises the
- base of the morsel. Settled on top of the cracker is a thin slice of
- fresh cucumber, which is then topped with an immaculate piece of
- splendidly seared tuna. The tuna itself is still the raw blushing pink
- of the uncooked flesh, slightly warm from the heat which has caused a
- white ring of cooked meat on the outside. A small spoonful of tuna roe
- and a sliver of lemon zest add the final accents to each canape.
- Consume:
- You pop one of the titbits into your mouth and bite down, relishing in
- the satisfying crunch of the cracker. As the mild cucumber juice and
- soft flesh of the fish spreads across your tongue, it draws a coolness
- across your palate and with it, a flavour that is almost reminiscent of
- the ocean and breeze itself. The seared salmon, while pleasing in
- itself, is improved greatly by the addition of the pop of each crisp roe
- as you chew, the flavours brightened immensely by the small sliver of
- lemon as the acidity of it highlights the salty flavour of the fish, the
- bland flavour of the cracker and the cool taste of the cucumber. You
- take your time with each canape, giving yourself more than enough time
- to enjoy each and every flavour it has to offer, and when it is done you
- carefully clean your fingers on the provided napkin before discarding
- the refuse.
- Smell:
- The soft scent of fresh tuna and light cucumber make for a delightful fragrance.
- Taste:
- Plucking some of the roe accent, you pop it into your mouth and let the fish eggs burst. Each one releases a light, slightly salted fishy taste onto your tongue.
