  1. 06[20:45] * Somalakshmi seeks out Lekha's tent that night after talking to Iltani
  2. 06[20:48] * Lekha is dozing lightly in her tent, sitting cross-legged before the remains of a small fire. The smoke that still rises from the embers has an odd sort of smell to it.
  3. [20:51] <Somalakshmi> "Hello? Lehka?"
  4. 01[20:52] <Lekha> "Hnnnnmmmyes?"
  5. 06[20:52] * Lekha yawns, opens her eyes, and scoots over so that Soma can get in as well.
  6. [20:52] <Somalakshmi> "Sorry to disturb you so late. May I come in for a moment?"
  7. 01[20:53] <Lekha> "Let's see... you want to talk about the battle today, right?"
  8. 06[20:54] * Lekha sweeps her hand in a grand, the-oracle-sees-all sort of way.
  9. 01[20:54] <Lekha> "Either that or it's a love confession."
  10. 01[20:54] <Lekha> "In which case I'm flattered!"
  11. [20:54] <Somalakshmi> "Oh. Actuallly, yes I-"
  12. 01[20:55] <Lekha> "Oh but it's too sooooon to start any sort of relationship, no matter how cute I am! After all, we barely even know each other, and ohhhh this is so embarrassing!"
  13. 01[20:56] <Lekha> "...But in all seriousness, there aren't many things that would cause you to seek out a near-stranger in the middle of the night, yes?"
  14. 06[20:56] * Somalakshmi pauses, starting speechlessly at Lehka for a few seconds
  15. 06[20:57] * Lekha beeeeeams.
  16. 01[20:57] <Lekha> "You don't need to be an oracle to make guesses."
  17. [20:57] <Somalakshmi> "I... suppose not. I mean, I did enjoy speaking with you today at the festival, and I appreciate your assistance in the battle."
  18. 01[20:58] <Lekha> "Speaking of..."
  19. [20:58] <Somalakshmi> "I suppose you don't need to be good at reading tarot cards for that. Just good at reading people."
  20. 01[21:00] <Lekha> "I suppose it would be more like... knowing what is to come from what's happened in the past. Something like that. But that's not what you wanted to talk about, I don't think."
  21. [21:01] <Somalakshmi> "It's not. I wanted to talk to you about that rune I used during the battle."
  22. 01[21:01] <Lekha> "It was pretty amazing."
  23. [21:02] <Somalakshmi> "I'm glad you think so. I'm sure it must be very interesting to a rune hunter."
  24. 06[21:03] * Lekha considers this. "I don't think so - that's a very personal sort of Rune, isn't it? It wouldn't suit me."
  25. 01[21:04] <Lekha> "I think it is interesting, but not of interest, if that makes sense."
  26. [21:05] <Somalakshmi> "Personal? Perhaps. But it isn't as though I could give it to you even if I wanted to."
  27. [21:05] <Somalakshmi> "It isn't removeable by conventional means."
  28. 01[21:06] <Lekha> "That makes sense to me."
  29. [21:06] <Somalakshmi> "It does?"
  30. [21:09] <Somalakshmi> "Have you seen a rune like this one before?"
  31. 01[21:09] <Lekha> "No. That's one reason why it doesn't surprise me that only you can use it."
  32. 01[21:10] <Lekha> "But....what was that guy's name? He said he had one too."
  33. [21:11] <Somalakshmi> "Masaru... Kiba?"
  34. 01[21:12] <Lekha> "How does one get their hands on a rune like that?"
  35. [21:13] <Somalakshmi> "I wouldn't really know. I've had it ever since I was a child. It was a gift."
  36. 01[21:13] <Lekha> "...Do you know that Masaru person?"
  37. 01[21:13] <Lekha> "...Sorry, I'm probably prying too much."
  38. 06[21:13] * Somalakshmi shakes her head. "I've never met him."
  39. 01[21:14] <Lekha> "But it's so interesting!"
  40. [21:14] <Somalakshmi> "You seem like a good person. I don't mind too much... but if I'm telling you about all this, can you promise me to keep it a secret from everyone else?"
  41. 01[21:15] <Lekha> "Oh, sure! IF you want me to, that's not a problem at all!"
  42. 06[21:15] * Lekha shruuug. "I'm pretty used to that sort of thing anyway."
  43. [21:15] <Somalakshmi> "You are?"
  44. 01[21:15] <Lekha> "People don't like to know too much, I think."
  45. [21:16] <Somalakshmi> "I think some things in life are better not knowing."
  46. 06[21:17] * Lekha smiles in a sort of pained way at that. "Perhaps."
  47. 01[21:17] <Lekha> "But don't worry, your secret - both your secrets - are totally safe with me!"
  48. [21:19] <Somalakshmi> "Both my secrets?"
  49. 01[21:19] <Lekha> "That you totally think I'm adorable and awesome, riiiiiight?"
  50. 06[21:19] * Lekha cackles.
  51. 06[21:21] * Somalakshmi smiles slyly. "Well, I did think something about you was kind of interesting."
  52. 01[21:21] <Lekha> "Hahaha! My lips are sealed!"
  53. [21:21] <Somalakshmi> "Particularly..."
  54. [21:22] <Somalakshmi> "You made it sound like your only objection to my confession was that it's been too soon."
  55. 01[21:23] <Lekha> "Who knooooooows?"
  56. [21:24] <Somalakshmi> "I certainly don't. You're quite a mysterious young lady, Lehka Satyasvapna."
  57. 01[21:25] <Lekha> "Am I? I always thought I was particularly straightforward."
  58. [21:26] <Somalakshmi> "Indeed. Bafflingly so."
  59. 01[21:33] <Lekha> "What mysteries are there?"
  60. [21:34] <Somalakshmi> "How does someone like you stay so positive after everything that's happened?"
  61. 01[21:39] <Lekha> "Hmmmmm."
  62. 01[21:40] <Lekha> "I guess because there's really no point in being down while you're still alive and can change things."
  63. 01[21:40] <Lekha> "Every moment is just a point in a line that can go either up or down!"
  64. 01[21:42] <Lekha> "...Did Katsuo tell you about me?"
  65. [21:43] <Somalakshmi> "I don't believe we talked about you."
  66. 01[21:43] <Lekha> "Well."
  67. 01[21:43] <Lekha> "You've told me so much about yourself, so it's only really fair I come clean, too, huh?"
  68. 01[21:44] <Lekha> "I'm...I guess you'd call it an oracle. I see things. Sometimes it's things that could never exist, sometimes it's things that have, or must in the future."
  69. [21:45] <Somalakshmi> "You say... you're an oracle?"
  70. 06[21:45] * Lekha nods. "I guess it's hard to believe, huh?"
  71. [21:48] <Somalakshmi> "It's a bit..."
  72. [21:49] <Somalakshmi> "I suppose I'm just not someone who thinks the future can really be known by anyone."
  73. 01[21:49] <Lekha> "But the point is, I guess, that even if I know one point on the line, I don't know what's in between - or where on the line the point is."
  74. 01[21:49] <Lekha> "...I said point waaaay too many times."
  75. 01[21:50] <Lekha> "So in a way, I guess you're right."
  76. [21:51] <Somalakshmi> "If all you can tell is something might happen eventully..."
  77. 01[21:52] <Lekha> "Does that bother you?"
  78. [21:53] <Somalakshmi> "Maybe... I just think sometimes that there's too much tragedy in this world for fortune telling to be real."
  79. 01[21:55] <Lekha> "Sometimes I wish it wasn't."
  80. [21:56] <Somalakshmi> "So... if you say you can see the future, then tell me."
  81. [21:56] <Somalakshmi> "Can it be changed?"
  82. 01[21:57] <Lekha> "The truth is in words, not in things."
  83. 01[21:57] <Lekha> "We can define our world as we wish it to be."
  84. 01[21:57] <Lekha> "That is the most wonderful gift we have."
  85. [21:58] <Somalakshmi> "That's... an interesting philosophy. I'm not sure I fully understand it."
  86. 01[22:00] <Lekha> "Well, let me put it this way, I guess."
  87. 01[22:00] <Lekha> "Let's say you and I are playing a game of chess."
  88. 01[22:00] <Lekha> "You've got, say, two pieces left, and I've got all of mine. How would you win?"
  89. 06[22:01] * Somalakshmi shrugs. "I wouldn't."
  90. 01[22:01] <Lekha> "But you could."
  91. 01[22:01] <Lekha> "Are you going to allow yourself to lose that easily?"
  92. [22:03] <Somalakshmi> "I didn't start with only two pieces. If it's gotten to that situation, one can easily infer the past and the future from that."
  93. 01[22:04] <Lekha> "Do you want me to tell you what I'd do?"
  94. [22:05] <Somalakshmi> "By all means."
  95. 01[22:05] <Lekha> "I'd turn the board around."
  96. 06[22:06] * Lekha sits back, and grins in a satisfied manner.
  97. 01[22:06] <Lekha> "And what I mean by that is the future is the same way."
  98. 01[22:06] <Lekha> "....also that I'm not really good at chess."
  99. [22:07] <Somalakshmi> "If you tried that..."
  100. [22:07] <Somalakshmi> "They'd just reach over and move their pieces anyway."
  101. [22:07] <Somalakshmi> "You can't change their color after all."
  102. 01[22:08] <Lekha> "....You're no fun, you know that?"
  103. 06[22:08] * Somalakshmi shrugs and smiles. "That's just the way the world works."
  104. 01[22:09] <Lekha> "Only if you decide it does."
  105. 01[22:09] <Lekha> "Which was the whole point of this conversation."
  106. [22:11] <Somalakshmi> "If anything, I think it proves that even if you can turn the board whatever way you like, you can't turn black into white."
  107. 01[22:12] <Lekha> "Okay, pretend I said something clever involving paint instead."
  108. [22:13] <Somalakshmi> "Well, if we ever find a brush that can paint souls, that would be a very interesting day."
  109. 01[22:14] <Lekha> "Hahaha! Maybe."
  110. 01[22:14] <Lekha> "...Is that what we were talking about?"
  111. [22:14] <Somalakshmi> "Perhaps."
  112. 01[22:16] <Lekha> "Well, I hope it was enlightening and so forth." Lekha yawns.
  113. 01[22:16] <Lekha> "But cheer up! It always gets better."
  114. 01[22:16] <Lekha> "You can always paint the chessboard or turn the pieces around or whatever it was."
  115. [22:16] <Somalakshmi> "Thank you. I'm sorry if I brought the mood down a bit. This is why I'm not really a fan of fortune telling. Talking about fate tends to get me that way."
  116. 01[22:17] <Lekha> "It's fiiine."
  117. 01[22:18] <Lekha> "Oh, and for all that advice, you've gotta do me a favor."
  118. [22:18] <Somalakshmi> "A favor?"
  119. 01[22:20] <Lekha> "The lady with the gun - I don't really know much about her. Do you?"
  120. [22:21] <Somalakshmi> "Iltani? I haven't met her before today, but we talked a bit."
  121. [22:22] <Somalakshmi> "She's a sweet girl, but she lacks a bit of confidence in herself."
  122. 01[22:33] <Lekha> "Really?"
  123. 01[22:33] <Lekha> "I wouldn't have thought her the type."
  124. [22:34] <Somalakshmi> "Well, when it comes to certain things anyway."
  125. 01[22:34] <Lekha> "I feel like I should get to know her too, is all."
  126. 01[22:34] <Lekha> "But I don't like getting the cold shoulder, you know?"
  127. [22:36] <Somalakshmi> "Girls like that just need a little coaxing out of their comfort zone. I wonder if I might have given her a bit too sudden of a push, but we'll see if she shows up for a makeover or not."
  128. 01[22:49] <Lekha> "I don't really know too much about that stuff either." Shrug.
  129. [22:50] <Somalakshmi> "You're interested in being her friend?"
  130. 01[22:57] <Lekha> "Of course!"
  131. 01[22:57] <Lekha> "We're gonna be stuck together for at least a little while, right?"
  132. 01[22:58] <Lekha> "Anyway, thanks for that. I'll be sure to think about it."
  133. [22:58] <Somalakshmi> "She's a bit modest. But she has a lot of wonderful qualities, even if she doesn't notice them herself."
  134. [22:59] <Somalakshmi> "Take care, Lehka. I'd be happy to be your friend as well."
  135. 01[22:59] <Lekha> "I thoght we were already." :D
  136. 01[22:59] <Lekha> "Sleep well, okay?"
  137. [23:01] <Somalakshmi> "Thanks, you too."
  138. [23:01] <Somalakshmi> "And I promise I'll wait until we've known each other a bit longer before I confess how adorable I think you are."
  139. 01[23:01] <Lekha> "Too laaaaaaaaaaate."
  140. 06[23:02] * Lekha waves bye!
  141. 06[23:02] * Somalakshmi smiles and shrugs before walking out.
