Star vs The Forces of Evil: King for a Day Ch. 1





	It was fall in Echo Creek and that meant one thing, the annual Medieval Fair rolls into town. Marco's father brought took him to one when he was a toddler, he's loved it ever since; once he even got to throw tomatoes at someone locked up in stocks. This year he had come with Alphonso and Ferg, surprising it was their first time coming to one of these period-specific fairs despite their love of the Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons board game. Yet again medieval England didn't have orcs, dragon's and wizards, but it did have the busty handmaidens to seduce which was good enough for them. For the event, they also dressed up in the costumes they wear when playing DnDnD, except for Marco he got an upgrade to some fancy nobleman clothing from Mewni courtesy of one Star Butterfly.

Throughout the day, the wandered around the fairgrounds, talking to people and visiting the various booths, watching a jester do some juggling and all sorts of various things. Marco wanted to buy a custom sword from the blacksmith, but they wouldn't sell them to kids, sure he can probably ask Star for one from Mewni but that felt like cheating. After a while Ferg and Alphonso started to get hungry, and so did Marco so they headed to the food court which had a mix of era friendly foods...and a Burger King truck, it was renamed Ye Olde Burger King, but it wasn't fooling anyone.

"Oh cool I want a sir burger of cheese, I didn't even know they had these back then; my mom' always said I should try to eat more exotic stuff" Ferg shouted enthusiastically as he ran to get in line for the truck. Marco and Alphonso just followed along, Marco wanted to stay true to the era, but 99cent burgers are too good to pass up. After a while they sat down to eat, as they began to munch on their food they noticed a news crew walking around the fair, the lady was talking to people and the cameraman filmed things around him.

"Look at that, must be a real slow news day for them to report on this," Marco said as he sipped  on his totally authentic medieval oreo cookie shake.

"Oh it's that new reporter lady for for the Channel 8 News, she's pretty" Ferg said between bites of his burger.

"Maybe they'll interview us" Alphonso suggested.

"Doubt it, but it would be cool to be on TV I guess" Marco replied.

They continued to eat their food, Ferg going back to order more. Marco thought of what he wanted to do next, there was not much that they have not already seen; there was one thing Marco had tried to do each year since he was a kid, but he could never pull it off, no one could actually. Ferg slamming his tray full of food on the table distracted Marco from what he was thinking.

"This stuff is so good, makes me wish I lived back during those days ya know? Raiding castles, rescuing princess's and then eating a cheeseburger with some onion rings" food fell out of Ferg's mouth as he spoke.

"Ferg none of this stuff is authentic medieval food, not even on Mewni. Except for Calzone's according to Star they have those and can tell you when you are going to die" Marco shrugged after he finished that sentence. "It's a weird and terrifying place that Mewni".

"Why didn't Star come with us? She seems to follow you everywhere normally. You'd think she'd love a place like this" Alphonso asked.

"I thought so too, I was surprised she turned it down" Marco replied.

"In fact her exact words were, and I quote, Marco it sounds nice and all but it's basically Mewni but tamer. Why would I want to see some actor pretend to lose his head on a guillotine when I can just go home and see it for real? I bet they'd even let me pull the lever that brings the blade down if I asked, in fact, they'd have to I am the princess after all." Alphonso's face went pale as Marco finished his story.

"Like I said, Mewni is a weird and terrifying place and Star well...you know," Marco said with a chuckle.

"Hey, Marco" an all too familiar voice came from behind the group.

"Oh no, why here? why now?" Marco groaned as Janna walked up to their table, she had a costume as well but with all the belts and metal shoulder pads Marco couldn't quite place it. She looked like the closets of a Kingdom Hearts character and a Fire Emblem character exploded and mixed together and now she's wearing what scraps of clothes she could steal from the pile.

"Nice duds Diaz, but isn't that cheating since you got Star? Most of these guys get their costumes made by their moms, not their magical girlfriends." Janna said grinning and poking Marco's neck with her finger. She looked around and got a good look at the other guys in the area and made a face of being grossed out.

"On second thought, doubt half these guys have ever spoken to a girl. Looks like Ferg and Alphonso are the alpha males here, which isn't saying much."

"JANNA!!" Ferg shouted mid bite of his burger. "Thank you for the compliment, that means a lot," he added and returned to his food. Alphonso just shrugged in agreement.

"You know Star is not my girlfriend and-" but Marco stopped himself from getting flustered. He was not gonna let Janna get the better of him, not today; that girl has no boundaries.

"You know what nevermind, Star zapped me these clothes because we are so madly in love and yadda yadda yadda," Marco said rolling his eyes. "Don't you have like a Marylin Manson concert to be at or something? It always feels like you are following me."

Janna grinned and began to whisper into Marco's ear. "Oooh feisty today aren't you Diaz, and who knows maybe I am following you." Janna did, however, have tickets to a concert that started soon, but it was to see a Depeche Mode cover band, still she wasn't gonna let Marco have the satisfaction of knowing he was right.

"If it makes you feel better, or safer you can follow me around, I don't mind Marco honest...I usually get undressed for a shower at around 6:45 pm and poor little me, I don't have any curtains for my bedroom window"  Janna said in a hushed tone, but loud enough Ferg and Alphonso could hear unknown to her.

"GO AWAY" Marco finally muttered.

"Fine, I'll go...I'll tell you this, though, If I get that sword I'm making you my personal pet, Diaz," Janna said backing away.

"What do you mean?" Marco asked faking ignorance.

"Oh don't give me that adorable I don't know what you are talking about look" Janna countered.

Marco dropped the act. "You know you won't get it Janna so don't even bother."

"Oh and like you will?"

"Who knows, but I know it's not going to be you!" Marco spat. Ferg and Alphonso looked really confused.

"Oh it's on Diaz, get ready to be my slave."

"Yeah will see about that won't we Janna?" Marco grumbled, Janna then did a turn and vanished into the crowd. She was angry but also didn't want Marco to see her smile, she liked it when he got rough like that with her.

"What sword?" Alphonso finally asked.

"What time did she say she gets naked?" Ferg also inquired.
