Intelligent people are crazy. Insanity can be funny.

Maybe mental illness cannot be treated because an intelligent person being disturbed by our idiotic world is natural, logical. The solution I think is to fix world, but in The Country of the Blind modality it is wrongly assumed a disturbed reaction to our world must be cured via removing the person's eyes so they can't see the horror.

The connection between intelligence and mental illness, in a predominantly stupid world (painfully dumb), is very valid, utterly understandable.

The stupidity of our world, for me, is very horrifying, it disturbs me greatly. So-called "civilization" is a despicable travesty, it only appears civilized if you have the low values, sensitivities, aesthetics, of someone with deficient intelligence. Our "civilized" situation is the most rudimentary veneer, sham, of civility.

While brains is minority issue, smart people suffer. Certainly not all smart people are crazy due to pain of our stupid world; their suffering will not always manifest in clinical mental illness, but the agony of our world for a genius shouldn't be dismissed.

There is also humour within insanity. Tragedy can be very comic. Mental illness can be funny, but I agree the absurd comedic farce our mindless civilisation tragedy doesn't mean suffering for the smart minority is cool or acceptable. Yes great absurdity exists in the agony, but sadly the hideously ridiculous farce doesn't lessen the misery.

It is valid to recognise how not all mentally ill people are scientists, but this for me does not invalidate the link. Our society would be a vastly better place if all crazy people expressed their intelligence via science or other similar avenues, but the problem is our civilization is stupid. The stupidity of our world means it is difficult to express intelligence; there are many obstacles, which can induce and overwhelming sense of despair. It 's a catch-22 situation where if all the crazy people could express their intelligence then civilization would not induce their craziness. Sadly civilization is the way it is.

There is a financial incentive for the leaders of the world to prevent the expression of intelligence, or to limit the expression of intelligence (did you know Bostrom, Musk, and Hawking often talk about how too much intelligence is dangerous?). Stupid people are profitable, but thwarted intelligence can lead to insanity. Countless mind-numbing bureaucratic measures continually thwart our intelligence

I'd say the mentally people who are not scientists or geniuses are latent scientists or geniuses; they are repressed.

We live in a world where logistically not everyone can be the President or Prime Minister. I don't mean they don't have the skills, I mean there is only one job available in each nation. Similarly imagine if everyone had the skills to be a scientist, would there be jobs available for everyone to be a scientist? You see this is why stupid people are created; or looking at it another way, it is why intelligence is repressed. This is why not all crazy people express their intelligence via science or other methods, but I am sure there is a connection between science (intelligence) and mental illness.
