  1.
  2. $2 Definition
  3. 1. There is a bodily feature that is clearly different from a human.
  4. 1.1. However, with non-human appendages such as wings, ears and tails, she must be blessed with at least 3, if there is no other change, to distinguish it from moe.
  5. 1.2. If the outward appearance is almost identical to a human, but she has an ability that is clearly non-human it must be expressed very strongly in the work and character
  6. - however, with flying, this does not appl.y because it closely resembles superheroes
  7. 2. The face is close to a human being
  8. * A furry face is not monster girl, neither is a Gundam type android design. Android faces must resemble the human face.
  9. * One-eyes designs are accepted
  10. 3. Possessing merely a special talent such as magic or telepathy is not sufficient to be classed as a monster girl
  11. 4. Even if it is not a "monster", but an alien or android or other such design, it is still considered a monster girl. The same holds true for golems and zombies, etc.
  12. 5. Personification is OK if it meets above criteria.
  13. 6. Transsexuality is a grey area. If she is a monster girl, it is OK. Mere genital changes such as futanari do not count as monster girls, however, tentacle or animal-type genital designs do.
  14. 7. If the character transforms into a human form during her key scenes, it is not a monster girl, even if it meets the aforementioned criteria. However, if she transforms from a human form into a monster girl for crucial scenes, it is OK.

  16. ยง3. Specific examples of the definition
  17. 1. Catgirls
  18. - If there are only ears and a tail, it is not a monster girl
  19. - If the skin color is changed, or paws are added, it is accepted
  20. 2. Succubus
  21. - If there are horns, wings and tail, it is OK
  22. - If there are fewer features, it is determined by her behavior or other features
  23. - Merely being lewd is not a monster girl feature, since this applies to regular women
  24. - With sucking out spirit, skin color change etc., it will then be OK
  25. 3. Demon girls
  26. - Horns only is insufficient, however with skin color change or some other demon feature it is OK
  27. 4. Winged character
  28. - Wings growing from the back by themselves are insufficient
  29. - However, if the wings extend from the arms to the body or the legs are bird-like, it is OK
  30. 5. Yuki-Onnas (snow girls), ghosts etc.
  31. - are OK if they express the features of their respective character designs well
  32. - If the appearance is like that of a normal human it is not accepted, but if they are clearly designed as Yukki-Onna or ghosts in the work, it is OK
  33. 6. Fairies
  34. - If she is small-sized, automatically OK
  35. - Elf ears only and otherwise normal is not accepted
  36. 7. Touhou Project characters
  37. - Touhou characters are only considered monster girls if they meet the above definition (flying is not sufficient!)
  38. 8. Personfication
  39. - It will be judged by the above definition. It is not sufficient just to say "This is a personification"
  40. 9. Cosplay characters
  41. - Here it it difficult to provide strict criteria because of subjectivity
  42. - Thus it is not judged whether a design is cosplay or not as long as it meets the above criteria
