  1. Headquarters lit up as the muffled sound of a radio broke the night's silence. Ever right eyed and chipper, Joy shot up in her bed.
  2. "Hooray! Field trip!" She threw off her covers and night gown and slipped into her signature sun dress.
  3. She struck a superman pose in front of her mirror
  4. "All ready for the awesome day ahead!" She said triumphantly. "Now I just need to wake up the others..."
  5. Joy bounded out of her room and into the hall. Of course, no sign of movement from any of her co-workers.
  6. “You guys are so lazy!”
  7. Taking in a long deep breath, she marched over to the closest bedroom to her own: Fear’s.
  8. “RISE AND SHINE, MISTER!”
  9. She kicked open the door with nearly enough force to knock it from its hinges, which resulted in a familiar high pitched screech. However, her bubbly amusement at her little prank quickly turned upside down...
  10. There was…nobody in the room?
  11. Joy wasn’t particularly concerned per say. Fear often ran away and hid at loud noises and sudden flashes of light. Not one to be deterred, Joy waltzed into the room and rounded the corner
  12. “I’m gonna find you!” She called out in a sing-song voice.
  13. To make a long story short, Joy found him, apparently knocked out by the door. Joy still wasn’t worried. The little guy had endured far worse at the hands of Anger, and even Disgust. It was just a matter of getting him to snap out of it.
  14. Joy began to shake him. “Wakey wakey, eggs and bac-ey!”
  15. Nothing.
  16. “Who’s the birthday girl?”
  17. Nothing.
  18. Joy was at a loss. Usually, that last one always got him.
  19. “Hey!” A gravely voice yelled out from the end of the hall. “Why don’t you two stop screwing around, and get to work!”
  20. Uh oh. Joy had to act fast.
  21. “Time to bring out the big guns…”
  22. Joy went over to Fear’s bed and plucked a pillow. If one thing could wake up Fear, it was - ironically - getting smothered. Now, emotions can’t really get smothered, as they don’t actually need air, but that never stopped Fear from mentally training himself to wake up if he felt a pillow on his face after being threatened by Anger to do just that.
  23. “J-just incase, y-you know?”
  24. “Sorry Fear.”
  25. On went the pillow, and onto the pillow went Joy’s behind, to weigh it down. It did not take long for her to feel the scrambling mass underneath her, to which, she relieved the poor man of the pressure on his face.
  26. “There, doesn’t that feel much better?”
  27. “What. Was. THAT?!?” Fear gasped. “And why does my forehead hurt so bad?”
  28. “Oh it was terrible, Fear!” she cried with heavily exaggerated arm movements. “You just went up and...uh, ran into your door! It was terrible!”
  29. Fear was very confused. “I don’t remember that...but I guess I hit my head. AH, what if I have brain damage? What if I slowly become a vegetable? What if I become a broccoli?”
  30. Joy grabbed Fear’s shoulders. “Relax, man. It’s going to be fine. You go get ready, and we’ll meet you in the control room.”
  31. Joy left the Fear to hyperventilate his way back to his dresser to get changed and went down the stairs.
  32. “Sorry I’m late, team! Now, what’s the scoop?”
  33. “Just waiting for Her Majesty over here to pick out a stupid outfit.” Anger grumbled from behind his newspaper.
  34. “Uh, excuse me.” Disgust snapped back. “If we are going on a lame field trip to some stupid museum, we are at least going to do so in style.”
  35. “I hope there’s an exhibit on depressive tendencies.” Sadness interjected.”That was my favourite part in Health class.”
  36. “Ugh, there is, like literally nothing we can wear.” Disgust groaned.
  37. “Riley, hurry up, you’re running late!”
  38. “AHH, we’re running late!” Screamed Fear from the stairs. “We’re going to miss the field trip, and we’re going to fail Health Studies, and It’ll all be YOUR fault!” He pointed a finger accusingly at Disgust.
  39. Fear’s heart was first flooded with regret, then pure, unadulterated terror. The fire in her eyes was akin to the fire of a thousand atom bombs. He turned to run, lock himself in his room for all eternity, but it was already too late. Like a cheetah attacking the antelope, Disgust pounced on the skinny emotion.
  40. “YOU.” Punch. “LITTLE.” Scratch. “CREEP!”
  41. “Oh no.” Sadness cried. “They’re going to kill each other.”
  42. “I have a feeling only one’s going to be dead by the end of this.” Anger said nonchalantly.
  43. Oh, he’d done it now. He just had to ‘run into his door’ and have his brain scrambled. And now, he was convinced that he was about to die. Wait. There was one thing he could do. He remembered it from a corny spy movie that Riley had seen the other night. But he couldn’t do that. Not to Disgust. Well, he could do it, in theory. And it’s not like he didn’t want to. Those soft, plump, lips…
  44. "No! I can’t do that!" He thought. But with every backhand, every insult, Fear was almost sure that he could see the light at the end of the tunnel though of course, there wasn’t, as Emotions can’t really kill each other. He had to act fast. If not for himself, then at least for Riley. In between punches, Fear suddenly reached out and grabbed the back of Disgust’s head and pulled her down.
  45. When their lips made contact, Disgust’s flurry of hits suddenly stopped, and her eyes bulged nearly as much as Fear’s. "Never mind. I AM doing this for me!"
  46. Using the few seconds of Disgust’s shock, Fear pushed her off and darted to his room, locking the door.
  47. Meanwhile, Disgust was slowly coming to. “Wh-what the heck-”
  48. “OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH!” Joy ran up to Disgust and hugged her. “That was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen I can totally see you two together I can’t wait for the wedding I wonder what the baby will loo-” Joy’s incessant chattering was cut short by a punch square in mouth, decommissioning her for the time being. Disgust picked herself brushed off her dress and strutted back to the control panel. “Anyone else?” she sneered. Anger put up his hands resigned, and Sadness was in on the floor curled up in a fetal position in her own tears. “That’s what I thought.” She turned spun around and got back to work. “Now, do I want pink, or plaid?”
