Aston’s Discovery:
While the earth pony Aston conducts experiments into the nature of magic, he discovers that the effects of magic itself are a physiological effect.  Magic is produced by a Unicorn  for the purposes of causing an effect. It is believed by this pony that the first Unicorns were in fact Earth Ponies that worshipped a stone with massive magical properties.  Thus theorizing that Unicorns have evolved from Earth Ponies.  The Equestrian Science Council was in an uproar last week when this discovery was announced, being made up entirely of Unicorn ponies.

Excerpt from Aston’s work: Aston buys a microscope. And wants to know why magic works. What makes it tick. He discovers through a magical rune stone under an powerful microscope, Particles encounter a fourth state under the influence of magic. They are attracted by forces of Pinpoint Gravity. Manipulating and duplicating to create magical effects. These pinpricks of gravitational pull are brought about by the extra part of the brain harnessed by a unicorn’s horn. ( A lightning conductor if you will) He finds this gravity was most powerful around the Elements of harmony. And those from which it was created as the creation of the elements was caused by a magic stone, Which created a field of  partly radioactive energy only accessible by unicorns. These of which allow for magic to occur.

Summary: Magic originated from a stone far beyond our Galaxy.  Created by mass compression of the elements left over by a desperate attempt to save an unknown civilization far, far away.(most likely an advanced form of unicorn) Crashed to the pony world. An earth pony found this. radiation given off by this stone would mutate the generations and offspring to a unicorn. Unicorns used their horns as sort of like a lightning conductor to move objects by manipulating a field of gravity which was created when the magic sank into the earth when the stone became part of it as it decayed and grew over. Absorbed.

The discovery: Aston then realized that certain chemicals could cause the brain to grow a receptor to manipulate the magic field. If he could extract it. He could, In theory. Turn anypony into a unicorn. He needed a specimen of the hormones which could achieve such an effect. He ran to his computer and skyped his closest unicorn friend.

V : Hey.
A:Hello! Come in and make yourself cosy!
V: You promised me that album?
A:After this is all done I promise you can have all the dubstep albums you like!
V:Ohh ok. So what's this all about.
A: I have researched into the origins of magic and found that the quarks and electrons act dif-
V: Woah woah woah! I ain’t no scientist! English I can understand please.
A:Long story short. I have discovered that Magic is a physical process making small amounts of gravity  causing effects in reality.
V: so it moves atoms around to make stuff happen.
A:Kinda... but it goes a lot deeper.
V:Explain.
A: Every unicorn like you! Uses their horn like a lightning conductor along with a part of the brain to use magic.
V:Ok....
A:Certain hormones allow these parts to grow. If I can replicate these.. I can turn anyone into a Unicorn.

* An idea forms in his head. He looks upwards towards his long fringe of hair.*
A: So you up for it?

* Aston opens the door to a wallpapered room.  Sci-fi posters line the walls. A few she can recognize. Doctor Whooves, The Hoof Trix. 2 PC monitors lie on the desk Some kind of video editing software that was doing something important she was sure. A tall computer tower was humming underneath the desk...  Undoubtedly what aston made his gaming videos on which were a favourite amongst the young foals.

A: All you gotta do is sit somewhere, and I take a blood sample. Ok?
V:Ohh ok. (nervous)
Vinyl sits down as Aston strolls to the side of the room. He takes out a pristine metal case. Of which he opens and pulls out a 5 cm syringe.
 V: Woah..
 A: It’s fine. It will only hurt a tiny bit. If you like. Close your eyes
* She  closes her eyes, Aston slowly puts pressure on the syringe. He then puls it out. A red slightly sparkly liquid (blood) is inside.
A: Did that hurt?
V: A little
A: Oh! I almost forgot
Aston goes over to a chest of drawers, He pulls out the latest Baloon Party album which he hands to Vinyl.
V: Yay! Thanks man!
A: Oh it’s fine. It’s a bit to hardcore for me... hehe
V: Anyway see you later!
A: Bye  (enthusiastic)

Aston gets to work immediately. He sets up his microscope,He puts a drop of blood on a slide.

He was right. Tiny pinpricks of energy, creating a “sparkly” quality. Luckily. He remembered something that he had. He rummages through some old boxes and finds what he is looking for He pulls out a small chemical centrifuge. Given to him at School. He ejects the blood from the syringe and places it in the centrifuge. He closes the lid. A gradual whirring comes from inside/ After a few mins. It dies off. A red light begins to flash. Done.

He He opens the lid and examines the tube. As he expected. A white sparkling layer of gel lies on the top. He uses his dropper and extracts the sparkling fluid. He places a drop on a slide and puts it under his microscope. It’s exactly like earlier. Without the blood cells. It was time. He exported the chemical makeup file to his computer. And waited. Hours, And hours. And then when he came back from The local market. it was done. 0.52ml was the effective dose for what he was about to achieve. He took another sterilized syringe and sucked up exactly 0.52ml of fluid. Now was the point of no return. He jabbed the syringe into his shoulder. Almost instantly he felt dizzy. Last time he checked he had 2 computer screens and not 4, seeing double. He vomited and fell to the floor.   He woke up. His friends, (I wanna put your names here guys but i don't know if its ok with you.) As he looked into their eyes. He noticed they were looking higher than his. There was a pain in his head. As he put  hoof up to rub his forehead, a spiked object grazed him. He parted his fringe of hair to see the tip of a long unicorn horn poking out of his forehead. He smiled with an almost manic grin, tears of joy welling up in his eyes. “ I'VE DONE IT! YES! YES! he does a small boogie inside his hospital bed. wait. Hospital bed? He got up. No signs of drowsiness. Although what he had yet to discover. with his horn. came his cutie mark...
