ok cool, but you've committed to the event which is happening in a week's time. Other people have paid for things assuming you'd be there. Other people have invested time on the organisation and production assuming that 4 teams are going. A 3 team event does not cut the mustard for the sponsors etc who have all invested money expecting something that then won't happen. It'll be curtains for tf2 with this sponsor in sweden, which means curtains for dreamhack tf2. Just because you don't want to play with 2 mercs and would rather drop out a week before.
I mean there's literally a medic at the event casting ready to play if you were that desperate

speaking from the production side I am pulling back a shit ton from this event because there's no point trying to hype an event where there's only three teams and arguably only one can really win. I've dealt with that shit in NA with froyo and there's no point.
this is assuming epsi doesn't attend.

yeah I understand, and knoxxx has a genuine reason and can't make it. The event itself was fairly short notice, only being confirmed 2 months ago or something, so I get the general hastiness with organisation. The problem arises if you then just decide to bail now rather than get a merc. I am sure you could get a prem medic merc, and I can help you find one if required. But if you bail now, or even with a subpar merc, you're hitting a huge blow to tf2 that is bigger than yourselves. And yeah it's a pity that you might not be 1st place in that scenario but I'll be very surprised if you're still not 2nd and going fairly even on money.

the money from tek and flippy's flights is your money anyway, since it's coming from the guaranteed 4th place prize pot. The accommodation money is not salvage-able from anywhere and would be a direct loss. The people who travelled for production would be essentially wasting their money on a sub-par 3 team event, and you'd have singlehandedly ruined any chance at DH TF2 happening again. As well as having to pay back masternoob and donators that money.

not coming first has nothing to do with it, we (as a team) don't enjoy playing with multiple mercs. it's the same reason we cancel scrims if we need more than 1 merc,we see it as pointless/not enjoyable
so I do agree with mike in that we'd muhc rather not play at DH
BUT, having said that
I also don't want to fuck over the community/sideshow organising this event etc
so regardless we are going
