J - Mixing Ports / Pkgs

Hey Guys,

I understood you were saying one could mix pkg and ports, if on the same
State;
can I fix my portstree to the quaterly one or do i have to change my pkg
to the CURRENT one?
If i can fix my portstree, where would i do that?
