>School in ponyville was incredibly boring
>Gym class was tough, too
>It was safe to say that neither Diamond Tiara, nor Silver Spoon were gymnastic fanatics
>Being a little too pampered, and and a little above any school authority, they sat on the side of the gymnasium, watching all the other students do star jumps, run laps and do pushups on the wooden floor
>There was a strict no-shoe policy in the gym
>All students had to remove their shoes and socks, leaving them at the door, before coming inside
>While she didn't feel as if she needed to obey that rule, Diamond Tiara had been taking every available opportunity to show off the pedicure she had gotten on the weekend
>She put her bare feet proudly on display to the others as they exercised, and they all occasionally shot glares at her as they passed
>Silver Spoon, too, had gotten a pedicure, with Diamond Tiara
>However, she was still shod and socked
>"Silver Spoon!" Diamond Tiara's voice rang out, mixing with the noise of panting and padding of bare feet in the room
>"Why are you still wearing your shoes?" Don't you want to show the world how much you love your new pedicure?"
>Silver Spoon was caught off-guard
>She had never been fully at ease with being barefoot around other people, and strangely, that feeling was particularly strong around the bossy Diamond Tiara
>"I, uh, I just don't want to follow the *orders* of that stupid sign out the front telling me what to do" said Silver Spoon
>It was true, she hated being told what to do
>But moreso, she hated the embarrassment of having her feet bare and vulnerable in front of her classmates
>They were such sensitive areas of her body, areas which she felt uncomfortable having exposed
>"Oh, Silver Spoon, you have to take more pride in your beauty! Show all the others here how fashionable you are! These- " Diamond said, grabbing one of Silver Spoon's shiny black school shoes, "-HAVE to go"
>"No, Diamond Tiara, wait!" Silver Spoon was desperate to stop her friend from removing her footwear
>But with two tugs, one for her shoe, and the other for her sock, Silver Spoon quickly felt warm air blowing against her sole
>Immediately, Silver Spoon went quiet, and felt...
>Felt...
>Well, she felt mortified, but she felt...
>Excited, too
>It was so different, to be barefoot outside of her mansion, where the plush carpet had been the only texture for her feet to explore
>The cool wood floor and warm breeze blowing in from the outside were electrifying experiences for the pampered princess' soles
>Holding her thumbnail to her mouth, and supporting herself with her other hand on the ground, Silver Spoon wiggled her toes tenatively as Diamond pulled off her other shoe and sock
>"There! All better, now. Now everybody can see how we go to the BEST pedicurist in Ponyville!" proclaimed Diamond, loudly, with particular empahsis on the latter half of her exclamation
>Silver Spoon couldn't help but snigger at her friend's loud remarks, and for a moment she forgot she was barefoot at school
>Then she remembered again, and sheepishly tucked her feet away under her dress
>After feeling the floor of the gym for a few minutes with her soles,
>(The floor was pleasantly textured with various grit from the outside, small grains of sand, occasionally even small bits of toejam from between other students toes)
>Silver Spoon could tell Diamond was particularly bored today
>"Let's leave these losers behind, Silver Spoon" Diamond said, apathetic towards anyone hearing her
>Silver Spoon gave her agreement, and as Diamond went to grab her shoes, Silver Spoon stopped her
>"Wait, Diamond! Maybe we should leave those off. I mean, maybe there'll be people outside to whom we'll want to show off our beauty sense?"
>Of course, dear reader, we know that Silver Spoon really wanted to feel the world outside without the filter of socks and shoes, experiencing nature through her ultra-sensitive soles, and was trying to convince her friend to rub her feet in the dirt, and all kinds of other things with her
>"What do you mean, Silver Spoon? It's dirty out there." said Diamond, with great disdain for the idea. "We'll get our soles *covered* in dirt and grass, and other icky things"
>Silver Spoon thought quickly
>"But Diamond, if we get our feet dirty, don't you think that'll mean we can ask our daddies to pay for another pedicure tomorrow?"
>Diamond, surprisingly, considered the idea
>She even more surprisingly agreed with the idea
>Likely, she too had wanted to go outside barefoot, perhaps as a rebellion against her mother who would never let her do such a thing, or perhaps just for the plain enjoyment of walking barefoot
>"I like the way you think, Silver Spoon. Come on, we'd better go before we waste too much time near these blank flanks"
>Scootaloo was indeed leading the running of the laps, followed by Applebloom and Sweetiebelle, but by the time anyone could have noticed, the pair of spoilt girls had left
>Outside, Silver Spoon was ecstatic, as the more sensitive of the pair by far
>Grass between her toes made her laugh out loud from their tickling, the warm pavement was like walking on a comfy heater, and, as the pair sat on the edge of the sandpit, chatting about school and shoes and boys, Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara sifted through the grains of sand with her bare feet
>each one felt like a buzz against Silver Spoon's soles, and she could hardly keep herself from snorting with laughter as her newly discovered extreme podiatal sensitivity pleased and delighted her
>As the conversation went on, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon pressed their soles together, wiggling toes and playing footsie
>Silver could hardly believe the feeling of another warm sole against her own, pushing back against her skin
>The foot play of Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara continued until the bell rang, signalling the end of school
>As much as the two didn't want to leave and end their newly discovered past time, they agreed that they "simply MUST do that again sometime", with full face smiles beaming at the thought of continuing their fun
