  1. Title: The Grand List of Languages
  2. CSS: ../global/Default.css
  3.
  4. <h1 id="Title">The Grand List of Languages</h1>
  5.
  6. Below is a list of languages that I maintain.
  7. It supersedes [this post](http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/post/104459911185/blurbs-for-all-the-languages)
  8. and [this page](http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/language-list),
  9. both of which I shall leave up to maintain links.
  10. However, the second page has been edited to only show a link to this page.

  12. # The Four Languages of the Jesdic Pasaru
  13. The official language of the Jesdic Pasaru,
  14. [**Egonyota Pasaru**][PSD-EP] is the one language you must learn
  15. to truly experience life in the Empire.
  16. It is the lingua franca of the Empire and its periphery, for certain definitions of “periphery”.
  17.
  18. The international language of the planet that bears its name,
  19. [**Serakafph Xaxex**][XAX-SX] is well known
  20. for its rich array of metaphor and figurative speech
  21. that compensates for its simplistic grammar that recurses poorly.
  22.
  23. [**Elaga Qvaḻsa**][QUX-EQ], once based on phonemes and other mouth-related words,
  24. has long since abandoned its spoken roots
  25. and is now entirely a “written” language encoded into numbers rather than as letters.
  26. It still retains its spoken heritage,
  27. through its intricate system of “letters” interacting with each other.
  28.
  29. A simple language for practical units,
  30. [**Cipogrtesaj**][CIR-Ct] is the language for when you feel like putting all modifiers after the main sentence.
  31. It has as many vowels as it does consonants,
  32. something borne out of its highly diverse speaking population,
  33. crossing not just civilization boundaries but species boundaries.

  40. # Other languages in the Jesdic Pasaru
  41. These have grown to be so numerous that they are now divided by planet.
  42.
  43. ## Pasaru (a.k.a Pseudo)
  44. [**Yoskrail**][PSD-Yk] is the programmer’s cant,
  45. a language that outwardly resembles a programming language
  46. yet contains enough concessions to make it usable for ordinary speech
  47. (and also make it become not a programming language).
  48. Spoken primarily in the isolated yet highly connected burrows of (J)erso
  49. and the surrounding ocean (now a mountain due to continental drift),
  50. it sports indenting, lexical blocks and an infinite supply of variables.
  51.
  52. [**Hesmai Iok**][PSD-HI] is a language that pulls its weight in Fenegil.
  53. It has an intense ȝender system that both nouns and verbs use,
  54. and they interact in manners most convoluted.
  55. It also has a most singular lexicographical ordering
  56. that uses a length-55 vector to determine order.
  57.
  58. [**Âagenzbèe**][PSD-Ag] is the Old Tongue of the northern lands of Pseudo.
  59. Outsiders will immediately recognize it
  60. by the language’s distinct usage of hand gestures as distinguished phonemes,
  61. a trait that it has passed on to its descendents
  62. who have changed it in many strange and wonderful ways.
  63.
  64. [**Cindri**][PSD-Cd] is a language spoken in the islands far to the north of Pseudo.
  65. It is known for its unique feature of having a knitted representation in lieu of a written one.
  66.
  67. [**Gwa-elohba**][PSD-GE] is the national language of Rija,
  68. and is a cousin of Cindri and a descendent of Âagenzbèe.
  69. It can be considered as a “missing link” between those two languages.
  70. Its most notable feature is that it has great dialectal variation due to its unique geopolitical situation.
  71.
  72. The administrative language of the Jesdic Senlis,
  73. [**Rattssaw**][PSD-Rs] is well known
  74. for its tricky application of phonemic prevocalisation
  75. (written using # for that matter), heavy use of tu-vous and strange loops in its registers.
  76.
  77. [PSD-Yk]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Yoskrai
  78. [PSD-HI]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Hesmai-Iok
  79. [PSD-Rs]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Rattssaw
  80. [PSD-Cd]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Cindri
  81. [PSD-Ag]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/%C3%82agenzb%C3%A8e
  82. [PSD-GE]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/search/Gwa-elohba (Linking the tag doesn't work. Really, Tumblr!)
  83.
  84. ## Xaxex
  85. [**Sekapon**][XAX-Sk] is the language of South Abeĉo.
  86. It’s well known for its multiple script system,
  87. which resembles a souped-up version of Japanese
  88. with no fewer than four scripts pulling their individual weight.
  89.
  90. [**Ouduec Fxelw**][XAX-OF] has a large phonetic inventory
  91. and is spoken in North Abeĉo.
  92. Little else about it is as of yet known.
  93.
  94. [**Ya-kĕnaj** (None posted yet)][XAX-Ya] is a programmer's cant
  95. similar but not exactly the same as Yoskrail.
  96. It has the most infuriating property
  97. of basing its syntax not on a tree but on a [double-ended queue][Deque],
  98. which makes for extremely flexible yet utterly reigid syntax
  99. and the idea of a "word operator" that doesn't say anything solid
  100. but rather operate on the deque directly.
  101.
  102. [XAX-Sk]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Sekapon
  103. [XAX-OF]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/tagged/Ouduec-Fxelw
  104. [XAX-Ya]: http://isoraqathedh.tumblr.com/search/Ya-k%C4%95naj (Same problem with Gwa-elohba. It seems like hyphens are a sticking point)
  105.
  106. [Deque]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-ended_queue
  107.
  108. ## Other
  109. [**Uvbraot**][LEB-Ub] dials down the weirdness of almost all of its sister languages,
  110. but still contains alien concepts for English speakers such as backgrounding sentences, and half-classes.
  111.

  114. # The Purple Languages
  115.
  116. (The Purple Languages are the languages
  117. that do not explicitly belong to the Jesdic Pasaru in any official manner.
  118. Of course, the way that the Jesdic Pasaru works,
  119. all of these languages belong to the Jesdic in some way, but not explicitly!)
  120.
  121. (Oh, they’re called the Purple Languages because they are written in a purple notebook.)
  122.
  123. [**Man gog yuu**][PUR-MGY] is an Esperanto for East Asian languages, warts and all.
  124. It attempts to create a synthesis of Japanese, (the various languages of) Chinese, Korean and even Vietnamese
  125. into a primarily Classical Chinese matrix.
  126. Along the way, many, many brutal compromises were made,
  127. creating a language that sounds, looks, and even thinks differently from any of the source languages.
  128. Quite a “compromise”!
  129.
  130. [**Altrvukaif**][PUR-AKF] (no tag of its own; this one links to its parent project, “A Beginner’s Guide to Alternia”)
  131. cannot claim to be the ancestor of all i·umën languages,
  132. although contains the obvious marks of a being a language of a group of somebodies who created i·umëns
  133. and the languages that go with i·umëns.
  134. Still, i·umën speakers beware,
  135. for this language has more levels of respect and emotion sensitivity than any you might have heard of.
