Gun Francisco: Monsters draft

Axle King was a Southee from a small convoy called the Sand Arch, and everyone in the convoy knew and liked him. They travelled far and wide across the sunken continent, protecting the Southees from the bandit and beast alike.

One day, while travelling through a hybrid jungle on their way to a nearby Southee fort, they have been ambushed by a bunch of sentient hybridae. In the attack, Axle is badly wounded and is immediately taken to the fort, leaving the group of hybrids behind in the jungle.

Over the course of the next few days, Axle undergoes a strange process, becoming really suck and one night the fort is attacked by the hybrids, which appear to be the same ones that ambushed the Sand Arch some time ago.
As Axle runs out of his room to assist the rest of the fort, he is immediately shot at by his comrades, and one of the shots hits him in the head and breaks off a piece of a dark green horn.
Horn?

As it turns out, Axle has been turned into a hybrid and is now treated like one by the Southees - he tries to reason with the Southees, but is forced to escape alongside the other hybrids to avoid being torn to shreds.
At first, Axle is despaired that he has now become a monster, but as he spends time with other hybrids in the jungle and learns how to use his powers, he makes friends with what he used to assume were simple bandits while in reality they turn out to be just like other people he knew while travelling alongside the Sand Arch.

After spending weeks in the toxic jungle, Axle alongside his new friends venture out to Southee fort, blocking any incoming shots and their gunners' best tries to stop them from entering the settlement, but they ultimately fail and are forced to let them in.

Axle begins to speak, much to everyone's surprsise. He starts to talk about how despite turning into a hybird, so commonly despised in the modern world, he has made new friends in the harsh jungles, previously believed to be nothing more than nests of mutants and freaks.
"They are not monsters. I am not a monster. YOU are the monsters, humans!" - he shouts - "Not the Northmen, not the Southees, ALL of humanity is responsible for this catastrophy that led to the creation of the hybrids that you treat as rejects, freaks, mutants, just because they are different."

Just as he finishes his monologue, a gunshot can be heard, and Axle falls dead to the ground, and the rest of Axle's band is murdered as well. Sadly, this harsh new world does not care about morals.
