RD band story (may never be finished)

>you're surfing Ponychan's My Little Human board for fun

>grab phone
>call Rainbow Dash
>"Hello?"
"Hey Rainbow. You doing anything tonight."
>"Nah. I was just going to finish reading the new Daring Do book, but not much else."
"You wanna come over? I've been working on fermenting some cider for the past few months, maybe you could try some."
>she pauses for a second
>"Well, uh, I also need to... okay."
>she sounds excited at the end
>hang up
>just as you stand up to uncask your cider, knock at the door
>Rainbow Dash
>how the fuck did she get here in like 10 seconds
>"Anon, I brought you some corn chips."
>"Thanks. I actually haven't tasted this cider yet, so I have no idea what it's like or how strong it is. Just sit down over there and I'll bring it to you."
>you walk into your garage and remove the cork from the barrel of cider you started fermenting six months ago
>take a sip
>it blows your head off
>think about throwing the whole thing out since it's way too strong and is pretty much moonshine at this point

>Rainbow licks her lips in anticipation
>she chugs it in one instant, afraid Pinkie Pie might come from nowhere and buy up the remainder
>she gasps approvingly

>Rainbow starts coughing and runs to your sink to get some water
>"What was in that! It burns my throat."
>"Relax, it's just alcohol. I thought it was a little too str-"

>you realize that ponies don't know how to make alcohol

>"Right, I forgot. It's something humans drink for fun. The burning is normal."
>Rainbow stops scraping her tongue with your napkins and says "Get me some more of that"
>you leave and make a mental note to buy as much cider as you can fit in your garage
>you pour two more mugs
>Rainbow downs the next mug in 3 seconds flat
>"Why do I feel... warm?"
>"Alcohol does that. You'll be okay."
>she's getting pretty loaded by now
>you decide to put on a movie
>think of what Rainbow Dash likes
>there hasn't been a Daring Do film yet
>Raiders of the Lost Ark
>"When did they make a Daring Do movie?"
>"They haven't. This is basically the same story but with humans."
>she's liking this
>you've seen this movie several times already and it's getting late
>you start falling asleep
>you lean on RD's shoulder for a pillow
>she feels like a warm blanket

>you wake up from her wings slapping you in the face

>you fly up to Cloudsdale, barely missing a few other pegasi
>she lets you out at her house, which has hard floors
>"This is it" Rainbow says as you hop off her back
>"It's nice." you say, half-lying
>you look at her room and notice her guitar
>"Do you mind?" you say, pointing towards the guitar
>"No. Go ahead." she says
>you were in a garage band back in high school but haven't played since
>you still remember the chords to You Really Got Me
>start singing along to half-remembered lyrics
>Dash is liking it
>you finish the song
>she clops for you at the end and cheers drunkenly
>you remember that you woke up in Equestria with your iPod in your pants pocket
>it's still at your house, but there's no way to play it
>you're both getting pretty tired
>Rainbow is a sleepy drunk
>you decide to sleep on her couch
>she sleeps standing up
>she makes a cute, high-pitched whinny when she sleeps
>you wake up a little bleary from the night before
>sneak quietly into RD's kitchen and eat a bowl of Wheaties with Spitfire on the box
>Rainbow hears you clinking the spoon against the bowl
>she falls over and clasps her hooves to her ears
>"Not so loud."
>she staggers about and looks at you with dead eyes
>"Why's the sun brighter than normal? Is Celestia supposed to visit today?"
>you explain hangovers and get her sunglasses
>the whole time you're thinking of the "Deal with it" images you saw on the Internet on Earth

>just when you think about your family back home, Rainbow Dash asks you about the song you played last night
>you tell her it's a song from the human world
>she talks about forming an 80's style arena rock band with you
>she's already got the costumes planned out
>you tell her that's one of the few songs you remember and she has a job
>she looks down in sadness
>you hesitate, then tell her you do have a copy of more human music if she wants some
>she perks up a little
>you tell her that there's no way to play it
>"Just give it to Twilight. She'll know what to do."
>you think about it and have her fly you back down to your house
>you sit down and exhale from exhaustion
>My Little Human starts in five minutes
>it's the closest thing you have to going home
>turn on the TV and wait
>"My Little Human. My Little Human. oh-oh-oh-ohhhh"
>before the theme song ends, another knock at your door
>I can't get a moment's peace in this dump
>it's Twilight
>"Hi, Anon. Rainbow Dash just came by. She said you had some human music for us?"
>you explain that there's no way for you to play it because your iPod hasn't been charged in over a year and you don't have headphones
>she still seems interested
>you tell her to wait and have to dig through several drawers in your dresser to find it
>Twilight leaves with your iPod, raving about how studying human culture will allow her to better understand your psyche
>close the door
>MLH is over
>you're still tired from last night
>you sit there and fall asleep
>wake up to the sound of your phone ringing
>Twilight again
>"Hello?"
>"Good news. I was able to power up your music device and I improvised a connector for the sound. I'll transfer your music to records so you can play them more readily."
>you thank her and head over that way
>when you get to Twilight's house, you notice that music is already playing
>Rainbow Dash is inside, listening to Marquee Moon
>she seems astounded by the guitar work
>you ask Twilight if there's any way you can power the iPod at home
>she gives you a photovoltaic cell and an improvised headphone connector
>"Rainbow!"
>she looks up at you
>"You can have the records if you want. I'll take my iPod home."
>she thanks you and tries to fly off but the weight of several hundred records is too much
>you notice as you walk back that she made two trips
