- Even if not for the maximum period, the optimal observation period's passed too.
- It should still be possible to see a shooting star though.
- But, in comparison to the chances that we initially sought out ――
- Riho, who knows a little bit more about shooting stars than most people, wants to wish upon a star, for sake of her wish, despite knowing its chances.
- Observing the star within the duration of this summer isn't very likely.
- Nonetheless, with Riho wishing so much for it, I question my attitude towards it.
- I'm not in a particular rush.
- Rather, if I had to choose, I'd be more indifferent than eager...
- ... But, I wonder why that is...?
- Why am I caught up in this mindset?
- Riho's incredibly serious, and eager about spotting a shooting star.
- Could it be... that somewhere within my heart, I'm simply justifying it as it's simply someone else's problem?
- No, that's not right. Perhaps I just can't express my excitement.
- ... Even if that's not the cause, I want to believe that it is.
- It's true that the shooting star is significant in some shape or form to me... If at the least, to the present me it is.
- Yet, on its own, perhaps there wouldn't be much significance behind it.
- But, what is it to Riho? What is a shooting star to Riho?
- ―― By definition, a shooting star at its core is cosmic debris, and its verisicolored coma, a result of it burning up in the atmosphere.
- From that phenomenon, human beings from an ancient past attributed it as being something akin to a miracle, if not, an enigma.
- But, if we were to view it by perspective of the dictionary, then what exactly is a human being?
- Humans are animals, and animals, composed of meat.
- Meat is composed of proteins, and proteins, by coalesced molecules.
- Then, what about the emotions of a human? The true nature of a human mind?
- The general theory goes that it's nothing more than intercranial impulses, with neurons firing off.
- Yet, if we're to understand all of that as being genuine fact, does the romance from the starry night sky vanish?
- The answer to that isn't a very difficult one.
- Even if you understand that the Earth is round.
- Even if you know that isn't a God living in the heavens.
- A person will dream upon the starry night, and a person will wish upon a star.
- A person will pray to a God.
- And ―― A human being will exist within the heart of another.
- From wishing, to prayer, to expectation, and occasionally, to realizing a dream.
- From facets outside the physical nature of an object, numerous legends arise, and culture is subsequently birthed.
- The physical nature of the object without form is far from its fantastic depictions.
- Through imagination, the power of creation crafts a form parallel to reality, and as a result, the foundation of society's formed.
- That's why, despite not having anything to gain from Riho making her wish...
- I don't deny Riho's wish. I don't laugh at Riho's seriousness.
- I sincerely wish that Riho gets the opportunity to wish upon a star.
- I want for her wish to come true. That's what I think.
- ... Even though I wish for it. Then I wonder why...
- ... I don't know.
- In a sense, it seems that just as I know little about Riho, I know little about my sentiments.
