  1. Even if not for the maximum period, the optimal observation period's passed too.
  2. It should still be possible to see a shooting star though.
  3. But, in comparison to the chances that we initially sought out ――
  4. Riho, who knows a little bit more about shooting stars than most people, wants to wish upon a star, for sake of her wish, despite knowing its chances.
  5. Observing the star within the duration of this summer isn't very likely.
  6. Nonetheless, with Riho wishing so much for it, I question my attitude towards it.
  7. I'm not in a particular rush.
  8. Rather, if I had to choose, I'd be more indifferent than eager...
  9. ... But, I wonder why that is...?
  10. Why am I caught up in this mindset?
  11. Riho's incredibly serious, and eager about spotting a shooting star.
  12. Could it be... that somewhere within my heart, I'm simply justifying it as it's simply someone else's problem?
  13. No, that's not right. Perhaps I just can't express my excitement.
  14. ... Even if that's not the cause, I want to believe that it is.
  15. It's true that the shooting star is significant in some shape or form to me... If at the least, to the present me it is.
  16. Yet, on its own, perhaps there wouldn't be much significance behind it.
  17. But, what is it to Riho? What is a shooting star to Riho?
  18. ―― By definition, a shooting star at its core is cosmic debris, and its verisicolored coma, a result of it burning up in the atmosphere.
  19. From that phenomenon, human beings from an ancient past attributed it as being something akin to a miracle, if not, an enigma.
  20. But, if we were to view it by perspective of the dictionary, then what exactly is a human being?
  21. Humans are animals, and animals, composed of meat.
  22. Meat is composed of proteins, and proteins, by coalesced molecules.
  23. Then, what about the emotions of a human? The true nature of a human mind?
  24. The general theory goes that it's nothing more than intercranial impulses, with neurons firing off.
  25. Yet, if we're to understand all of that as being genuine fact, does the romance from the starry night sky vanish?
  26. The answer to that isn't a very difficult one.
  27. Even if you understand that the Earth is round.
  28. Even if you know that isn't a God living in the heavens.
  29. A person will dream upon the starry night, and a person will wish upon a star.
  30. A person will pray to a God.
  31. And ―― A human being will exist within the heart of another.
  32. From wishing, to prayer, to expectation, and occasionally, to realizing a dream.
  33. From facets outside the physical nature of an object, numerous legends arise, and culture is subsequently birthed.
  34. The physical nature of the object without form is far from its fantastic depictions.
  35. Through imagination, the power of creation crafts a form parallel to reality, and as a result, the foundation of society's formed.
  36. That's why, despite not having anything to gain from Riho making her wish...
  37. I don't deny Riho's wish. I don't laugh at Riho's seriousness.
  38. I sincerely wish that Riho gets the opportunity to wish upon a star.
  39. I want for her wish to come true. That's what I think.
  40. ... Even though I wish for it. Then I wonder why...
  41. ... I don't know.
  42. In a sense, it seems that just as I know little about Riho, I know little about my sentiments.
