[02:05] <Kuji> "We've arranged with Steve to meet... oh, look. Exactly twenty-four hours from now.

[02:07] <Steve> A text message let Kuji know that he could meet Steve at the Pokemon Centre, but that he could also meet him at the airport if that was for the best.

[02:07] <Kuji> One boat ride later...
[02:07] <Kuji> "And they forgot to feed us. AGAIN."
[02:08] <Kuji> "Man... I'm so hungry..."
06[02:08] * Salino rubs his stomach as it growls a mighty growl of HUNGRY MAN. "...we really need to pack food next time."
06[02:09] * Steve was there, waiting for them at the docks, waving them over. "Mister Kuji! So good to see you again!" He steps forward, and looks to Salino. "Oh? Mister Salino, I didn't know you'd be coming."
[02:10] <Salino> (ohright Steve has nooooo ideaaaa)
[02:10] <Kuji> "Mmm... yeah. Let's go find to a good food place after this." Kuji walks out of the boat, looki- "Oh. Steve. How'd you know we'd be at the docks?"
06[02:11] * Salino waves at Steve as they depart the boat. "Oh of course! I couldn't stand the thought of Kuji coming all the way here by himself so I just decided I might as well come along..."
[02:12] <Steve> "Funny story. I went to the airport, but the flight got in half an hour early, and I didn't see you get off the flight, so then I realized you must be at the docks, so I peddled here as hard and as fast as I could. It was so nice of the bike shop to do rentals."
[02:13] <Kuji> "Haha. That's good... hm, I wonder if airfare is free for Wanderers. Anyways, do you have the Shuckle?"
[02:14] <Salino> "Aw... sounds like you went through a lot of trouble just for us. Sorry about that pal..."
06[02:15] * Steve smiles to Salino. "It's no trouble at all. Armo's waiting for you back at my Daycare, as are the two eggs. They're ready to hatch any hour now. I think there's some cabs we can hitch outside."
[02:15] <Steve> "Oh, you guys had something to eat on the way over, right?"
[02:16] <Kuji> "No, we did-" GROWL. Kuji's stomach took care of answering that.
[02:17] <Salino> "...that's the second time that guy hasn't fed us on a half-day trip." Salino looks particularly sad as he rubs his empty stomach.

[02:17] <Steve> "Hmm...okay, got it. Once we get to the Pokecentre, we all pitch in, I go get us some burgers or noodles or something, and you two can see if the eggs have hatched."

[02:18] <Kuji> "Alright. Thanks, Steve... so, the eggs are over at the Pokecenter?" Kuji started walking quickly to the Pokecenter.
[02:19] <Salino> "...please anything but noodles. I... I've had bad experiences with noodles... one bad cup of instant ramen and I was sick for a week..."
[02:20] <Kuji> (...how did... um...)
[02:20] <Salino> (don't ask.... just... Salino has Gumshoe-level luck)
[02:21] <Steve> "Aah...alright, no noodles. Burgers still good?" Steve looks to Kuji. "Yes, they allowed me to set up my Daycare in the Pokecenter, provided I pay rent on it. The nurse or the receptionist can point it out to you."
[02:22] <Kuji> "Yeah. Burgers should be fine. He eats them all the time." ZOOM to the Pokecenter... why in the world is Kuji walking so fast?
[02:24] <Steve> So fast Steve had to get on his rental bike to keep up. "Well, this certainly saves on cab fare. Good on that. Oh dear, been an hour since I left the eggs...I hope Armo and Duplica are still looking after them."
[02:24] <Salino> "Burgers sound great pal!" Salino is doing his best to keep up with Kuji's pace but he's falling behind ever so slightly.
06[02:25] * Kuji , without a care in the world except for the eggs, finally reached the Pokecenter and walked in. "...alright, Steve, where are the... Steve? Salino?" Kuji looked around for them, but he seems to have lost them...
06[02:26] * Salino is panting heavily standing outside the Pokecenter. "Must... get in... better shape..."
[02:27] <Steve> A few minutes later, Steve finally parked his rental bike at the gate of the Pokecenter, also panting. "Either we're out of shape...or your friend is in perfect shape..."
[02:27] <Kuji> "Oops. I knew I shouldn't have dashed for it... I was just worried, you know?"
[02:29] <Salino> "...It's fine... just... let's get in so I can sit down for a minute..."
[02:29] <Steve> "I understand. I left them for an hour, they might have hatched while we were out. Come on, I'll take you to the Daycare." Steve briskly walks into the Pokecenter, and down the halls, coming down from the heavy bike pedalling.
06[02:30] * Kuji follows Steve to the... since when did the Pokecenter have rooms like this? "Hm... I've never seen this area before."
[02:32] <Steve> Steve's Daycare was actually set out of a room normally reserved for trainers to rest there on their visit to town before taking on the gym or any other challenge. Steve had, effectively, taken up home there. The room had been cleared out to allow for chairs and space for the Pokemon.
06[02:32] * Salino immediately opts to occupy a chair nearby as they enter the daycare. "Phew... nice place... you got here."
[02:32] <Steve> It was also a few doors down from a garden for Pokemon to play outside. Right now, Gaav, Duplica, and Armo were out of their Pokeballs, all standing around two red eggs with white speckles. Shuckle eggs.
[02:33] <Steve> "You're kind to say that, Mister Salino. It costs me, though; it's not often a Pokemon Centre gets, effectively a permanent resident." He chuckles. "Well, until I build up a reputation and background."
[02:34] <Kuji> "Hm... look at the eggs... I wonder when it's going to hatch."
[02:34] <Salino> "No need to call my Mister. Just Salino will do." He gives a goofy smile as it appears he's recovered mostly from the jog here. "From the sounds of it, any minute now I think!"
[02:35] <Steve> "Oh, here..." Steve looks to Armo and Duplica, before gently taking one of the eggs in his arms. He smiles, holding it for a moment, before handing it to Kuji. "Notice any movement or warmth from the egg? As Salino noted, we're so close. Within the hour, I think."
06[02:36] * Kuji holds the egg, sitting down on the floor. "...man... Salino, feel this. It's so warm... I think it's going to hatch soon."
06[02:37] * Salino moves over towards Kuji and plops down onto the floor next to him. He puts his head on Kuji's shoulder has he feels the egg with his hand. "Oh wow! It's really warm! Feels like it could be any minute now!"
06[02:38] * Kuji nods. "Wow... I've seen the breeders work, but now that I think of it, it's the first time that I've touched a Pokemon egg..."
06[02:40] * Steve smiles. "It's quite a thing, isn't it? Scarlet hatched in my arms a few months ago. What I felt when she did, that made me take up this route." He sits down on one of the last free chairs. "Looks like we can reserve the burgers until they hatch," Steve notes. "I don't think any of us want to miss this."
06[02:40] * Kuji nods slowly, in the moment of the egg...
06[02:41] * Salino simply stays put with his head resting on Kuji's shoulder as they all watch the egg in anticipation.
[02:42] <Steve> "So, Salino, it was very nice of you to come out and help your friend pick up his Pokemon and her babies."
[02:43] <Salino> "Well... like I said I didn't like the thought of him coming alone. Besides... as long as we're together I'm happy. I would just go stir crazy back in Sandstep by myself."
[02:45] <Steve> "Still, sorry to have to call you all the way out here. I didn't realize Sandstep was your home; I was only there for the circus." He blushes a little. "I wonder if it was a little presumptuous to set up flyers outside of Ivoryscape." He shakes his head, and looks to the two again. "You must be really close, then."
06[02:46] * Kuji nods slowly, still in the moment.
06[02:47] * Salino blushes at that comment but smiles. "Yeah..."
06[02:48] * Steve tilts his head down, thinking a little, before tilting it back up. "Salino? May I assume something?"
[02:49] <Salino> "Huh? What do you mean pal?"
[02:49] <Steve> "Are you one of the Rangers? Or maybe on the police force? Forgive me for assuming, it's just I haven't seen trench coats like your's outside of those forces."
[02:51] <Salino> "Oh! You got a good eye!" Salino givs a goofy grin and lifts his head up off of Kuji's shoulder. "Yeah... I'm a detective of the Sandstep Police."
[02:54] <Steve> "A detective?" Steve nods in fascination. "Then...I was wondering..." He holds out a Pokeball, and releases Jareth, his dull eyed Misdrevaus. "You received a Pokemon from the Almeza family as well, right?"

[02:59] <Steve> "I know this is a long shot, but they mentioned that Pokemon like Jareth and your Hariyama came from Orre, and from sombre conditions. As a detective, someone on the force...do you know what happened there?"
[03:00] <Steve> "I know it's outside your jurisdiction, but, so long as you're here, I'd like to know what happened to them, so I can understand what made them so...distant."

06[03:26] * Salino closes his eyes as if deep in thought as he continues speaking. "...These pokemon have been abused, neglected, beaten.... even brainwashed. They were treated this way to solely become tools of battle. As Wes and Rui coined it, they are shadow pokemon."
[03:29] <Steve> "Shadow Pokemon..." Steve crawls back in his chair, looking at Jareth, but letting Salino know he was listening. "What's happened to them...it's..." Steve shakes his head.
[03:31] <Salino> "Though we were told there is hope. With a lot of dedication and love we can help them overcome... but it's going to be a long, long road ahead..."
[03:34] <Steve> "...I'm willing to take that road. I can't call myself a Pokemon Breeder, someone who cares for Pokemon, natures them, tries to bring out their best, if I turn my back on this."
[03:36] <Steve> "Still...I feel that'd be best done by keeping Pokemon like Jareth and Hariyama off the field. If they had been endoctored as tools of battle, perhaps throwing them in battle would be..."
[03:36] <Salino> "...Just be very cautious at all times. These pokemon may seem unmoving and unresponding now... but when thrown into battle they can fly into an unbelievable fury..."
06[03:39] * Steve looks down, tries to touch Jareth, but backs off before contact, just trying to look hopeful and happy towards the Misdrevaus. Then he turns to Salino. "I'll do this. Thank you, Salino."
[03:40] <Salino> "Of course..." Salino rests his head back onto Kuji's shoulder. "We'll all do our best... for their sake."

[03:48] <Steve> "Ah!" Steve smiles brightly. "Gentlemen..." He gets on one knee on the floor, and helps Armo crawl towards her eggs.

[03:53] <Steve> "Might want to shield your eyes," Steve notes a bit too late, the brim of his hat already down. "I was temporarily blinded for five seconds when Scarlet hatched on me."
[03:53] <Salino> "Wooow!" Salino says before putting hand up to his eyes. "This is... I've never seen anything like it..."
[03:54] <~Garlyle> The glowing gets INTENSE for a few seconds, filling the room with light, and then when it dies down, there's two new... little red shells, just sitting there, seemingly empty.

[03:54] <~Garlyle> ...And then, almost in sync, little heads peek out
[03:54] <Kuji> "...this is too cute."
[03:55] <Steve> "Congratulations, Kuji. It's a healthy boy and a healthy girl."

[04:00] <~Garlyle> As Steve goes to start walking out, he's surprised to find the door is open - and someone is watching.  She's standing there in the doorway, cane set quietly in front of herself to lean on it a bit.  "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

[04:01] <Kuji> "I'm going to name one Shell and one... do you wanna pick, Salino?"
[04:02] <Steve> "That's the price we agreed on, yes." Steve takes the money, and nods. "Right, I'll go get the burgers. Any allergies or just general preferences, might want to say them now before I--" Steve stops himself before he walks into the woman. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Mrs. Altherwoo--"
06[04:02] * Steve stops, swallows, and smiles, backing up a bit to give her some space. "Mrs. Altherwood?"
[04:02] <Salino> "I dunno... I'm always so bad with names..."
[04:03] <Kuji> "Hm... um... oh, I know. The other one's going to be named Stone."
[04:03] <~Garlyle> "Oh, no need to be so formal.  Please, just call me Julia," she smiles, stepping into the room with a quiet smile on her face, nodding to Kuji and Salino - who seem absorbed in ADORABLESHUCKLEBABIES.  "Young man, you're Steve, the new Breeder, right?"
[04:05] <Steve> "Y...Yes, Mrs A...Julia." Steve bows his head down in respect. "It's an honour to have you in my centre. Please, have a seat. I was about to go get my customers something to eat. Would you like something as well? Something to drink, perhaps?"
[04:05] <Salino> "Stone and Shell huh? It's perfect! Kuji you are great at this!" Salino rests his head on Kuji's shoulder as he watches the babies shuffle about clumsily.
[04:06] <Kuji> "Shell and Stone. Yeah. Those are good names." Kuji nods, aware of the fact Julia was there... but he didn't know who she was. "Haha, really? I feel kind of bad for picking a name from the TV show..."
[04:06] <~Garlyle> "Oh, my.  I'd love a cup of tea, if you're offering.  Thank you, deary..." she smiles at him warmly, settling into a seat nearby to the newborns.
06[04:07] * Steve nods, and takes out some Pokeballs, recalling Jareth, Duplica, and Gaav. "I won't be two shakes of a Mareeps tail. Please, Julia, make yourself at home." With that, Steve walks off, before running once he was out of sight.
06[04:08] * Salino is pretty much oblivious to Julia at the moment. "Nah... they're great names."

[04:12] <Steve> It was near fifteen minutes before Steve was back with a tray of two burgers, and two cups of hot tea. "I hope Jasmine Green is okay." He started handing everything out, before sitting down.

[04:13] <~Garlyle> "It'll be fine, thank you dear," Julia takes the teacup and platter, setting it on her lap, and takes a very quiet and dignified sip.

[04:13] <Steve> "I wasn't that hungry. I already had a bite before I left to pick you up at the docks." Steve takes a sip as well, although his swallow is a bit more audible. "It's an honour to have you here, Julia. I must ask, what brings you here?"

[04:18] <~Garlyle> "Wonderful, dear... Zent said you would be willing, and he does not recommend people lightly, you know."  She smiles at him, and pulls a friend ball from her purse, handing it to Steve.  "This is a bit of an unusual request, but I hope you can fulfill it."
[04:20] <Steve> Steve blushes a little at the hierarchy of recommendation, and he returns Julia's smile, taking the friend ball with pride. "I'll do my best to satisfy, Julia. Is there anything I should know about this job? Certain things required in caring for..." He looks at the ball. "Her? Him?"
[04:21] <~Garlyle> "Him.  Why don't you take him out and give him a look?  My request should make more sense then."
06[04:21] * Kuji rips some of the burger bun to feed the Shuckles, himself just eating the meat.
06[04:22] * Steve nods, and clicks the release on the friend ball, allowing the Pokemon inside to emerge.
[04:22] <~Garlyle> There's a little light from the ball as something small zooms out and onto the floor... and it's -tiny-

[04:24] <~Garlyle> "It's a Celitty.  They're really quite rare... but I'd like to change that."

[04:25] <~Garlyle> At this point, it flips over onto its little paws and runs over to the Shuckles to start playing.
06[04:26] * Kuji watches the Celkitty play with the Shuckles. "...hm..."
[04:28] <~Garlyle> "It has some unusual abilities that are, unfortunately, rather difficult for it to make use of with how rare it is.  So I'd like to ask you to let this one be the father to a whole litter of newborns... and then to give them to your customers."
06[04:30] * Steve has a look on his face that just says "shock and awe." Or, to be more precise, "shock and awwwww." "I think I understand. Julia, I'd be happy to take part in this assignment."
[04:31] <Kuji> "Hm... you mean you're giving out Pokemon?"
[04:31] <Steve> "Project." Steve blushes at that little slip.
[04:32] <~Garlyle> "Thank you, dear," she smiles.  "Now, little Stripes..." she reaches down and begins petting the kitty, who flips over onto his back and bats at her hand playfully.  "You promise to be good, okay?"
[04:32] <~Garlyle> "Litty!"
06[04:34] * Steve kneels down and smiles to Celitty. "Stripes? I'm happy to meet you." He looks up. "So how can I get in contact with you and Zent to keep you up to date on this project?"
[04:35] <~Garlyle> "Oh, that's quite easy, dear.  Just ask -him-," she points down at Stripes.  "Oh, perhaps a demonstration is in order.  Stripes?  We'd like to talk to Zent."
[04:35] <~Garlyle> The kitty mewls once more, then seems to fall quiet.  And you hear it purring a little, then...
[04:35] <~Garlyle> All at once, you can hear the sounds of Zent's kitchen in full swing, and him shouting at his souschefs to GET TO WORK YOU LAZY GITS.
[04:36] <~Garlyle> "Oh, right, phone call!  Do you mind, I'm kind of busy!" his voice can be heard after a moment.  "Hey, the customer asked for -medium rare-, do it right, don't come crying to me!"
[04:36] <Kuji> "Sounds like a busy... how is that Pokemon doing that?"
[04:37] <~Garlyle> "Sorry to bother you Zent, I just needed to demonstrate a Celitty's connectivity.  Thank you, little Stripes," she taps it in the belly once, and the sounds of the kitchen instantly end.
[04:38] <Steve> Steve's jaw unhinged just there. "That's amazing..." he breathes out. "So Zent has a Celitty as well, or did you actually connect to his phone?"
[04:39] <~Garlyle> "The former.  Celitties that have met each other can contact each other freely.  Of course, with how few there are, this isn't of too much use... but I would love to see them more common, wouldn't you agree?"

06[04:39] * Kuji nods. "Wow... that's pretty amusing. Techn- I mean, Pokemon these days..."
[04:41] <Steve> "Entirely." Steve smiles at Julia. "I'll read up on these Pokemon tonight, and tomorrow, Duplica and I will get started on. I really must thank you for this opportunity, Julia."
[04:42] <~Garlyle> "It's nothing, dear; thank you very much for taking this project on for me."
06[04:43] * Steve chuckles a little. "Normally, I'd discuss rates with a client at this point." He then mutters under his breath. "i, uh, think that's how it's done." Then back to regular tone. "But this is a major project that can shift the course of Altho. As a Wanderer, I gladly take on this job for free."

[04:45] <Kuji> "...hey, Steve. When you breed a few, do you mind if me and Salino have one? It'll be better than this rinky-dinky thing." he said, holding up his one-button cellphone.
[04:46] <~Garlyle> "...You're a Wanderer?" Julia looks a little surprised, then smiles.  "Well, perhaps if I could ask you to continue your work - and see about giving any other Wanderers you know them as well?  It might be good for you all, since you all get into such trouble."
[04:47] <Kuji> (...I thought Wanderer ID was the Dex.)
[04:47] <Kuji> (Oh, wait. Steve. Doh.)
[04:48] <Steve> "Over the next month, I hope to make that a reality. You can count on me, Mrs. A..Julia." Steve blushes, already starting to lose his cool.
[04:52] <~Garlyle> "Wonderful, dear, thank you so much," she smiles, shaking his hand.  "Even if you'd like to do it for free, I'll still see to arranging something in proper thanks for you."
[04:54] <Steve> "This is an honour as it is," Steve assures. And quite honestly. To bring Celitty to the people of Altho at large would be a great act for any Pokemon Breeder. Steve could only hope he'd do as good a job as a rookie.
