- [Apologize]
- “I’ll be right back.”
- “Of course, Aiko.”
- I make my way out of the cafeteria to see her going around the corner as the crowds make way for her. I sprint as best I can to catch up with her, barely managing to make it.
- “HEY! HEY! I’m sorry! Hey! Come back here!”
- I can barely grab the wheelchair grip. She turns around at me, still upset and crying.
- “Let me go! Please!”
- “Hey! Can I at least apologize! I didn’t see you there, and-“
- “Yeah, no one ever does. Stop trying to make me feel better.”
- “Oy! I don’t even know your name!”
- “Endoso Megumi. I’m a first year.”
- “Amaya Aiko. Why were you coming to talk with third years when you’re just a first year? Shouldn’t you-“
- “Be with my own kind? I would if I ever fit in with them.”
- “I’m sorry. I thought things would be different at this school.”
- “Nope. Sorry to disappoint you. It’s just as bad.”
- “Well, look, what I said…it’s a figure of speech, you know. It wasn’t intentional.”
- “…alright, Aiko. Mind if I join you guys for lunch?”
- “Sure. It would be my pleasure.”
- I wheel her back into the cafeteria after taking a free ride on the back of her chair like a shopping cart at the super market.
- “Mikado, this is Endoso Megumi, she wishes to join us for lunch. Could you please submit my application to amend our lunchtime rendezvous to the glorious leader?”
- “Uh, slow down, Aiko! Wa-ha!”
- “She tries to sign it all to Shizune who listens mock-seriously.
- “The glorious leader supports your action and is happy to see new and future members of the Student Council.”
- “Tell her I said thanks, too!”
- Oh, Megumi, you’ll fit in well one day. Maybe.
- Maybe we’ll both fit in.
