v1 of webnet's problem

basically if i try to install ubuntu or any other distro that uses kernel after 2.6.35 my monitor doesnt work, built in monitor or external via vga,

Laptop is an acer Aspire 5734z everything stock,

tried alternate boot methods like nomodeset etc,

cant see anything lcd seems to display a picture when a light is held to it, but the backlight doesnt turn on. tried ubuntu 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 with no luck. no luck with open suse and red hat derivitives either if they use a kernel after 2.6.35

tried installing a server edition, but even the server edition doesnt engage the backlight so i cant see the cli. cant see to install an ssh server. ant see anything
