Physical Web Project
The Physical Web Project is an initiative coordinated by Google. Physical web is a standard for beacons and mobile operating systems. Compliant phones would to be able to discover beacons just as they would wifi networks. These beacons would emit URLs so that, without any app at all, a smartphone user could be directed to a web page advertised by a beacon. This is a very new project and is unlikely to be included in customer’s devices for 18 months at the least, if at all. It presents an enticing, but currently out of reach, solution.
