This is intended to be catalog of information relating to the leaks of an alleged former 4chan janitor. It is an attempt at chronicling the events as they happened and presenting an unbiased account of the facts.

The events began when a thread was posted on July 28th on sportschan.org, a spinoff chan for /sp/ refugees. The thread was posted by a user with the tripcode ID !DwgeSpOOKY, who claimed to be a former janitor of /sp/, /int/, and /v/, and offered to answer questions. This person also proceeded to post screenshots purported to show the janitor interface, the report queue, and the /j/ board.

The image that received the most focus was one that provided a glimpse of the /j/ board, a board exclusively for 4chan staff to post on. The image appeared to reveal the identity of a janitor as MQrB8x2X, a notable /q/ poster with a static ID. This image can be found here: http://boards.sportschan.org/sp/src/137511269175.png

The thread went mostly unnoticed until about three days later, on July 31st, when a thread was started on /q/ with the aforementioned image posted in the OP. It received 22 replies over the course of about half an hour until it was abruptly deleted. An archive of the thread can be found here: https://archive.foolz.us/q/thread/711343

After this, several more threads on /q/ were made, with at least one managing to get over 200 replies before it 404'd. An archive of that thread can be found here: https://archive.foolz.us/q/thread/711424/

All threads made on /q/ relating to the subject of the leaks were either deleted outright or put on autosage. It was also claimed that posting the picture showing the /j/ board had been made an autoban, though this may no longer be the case.

At this point, word had begun to spread to the rest of the site, with threads and posts about the subject appearing on /pol/, /sp/, /mlp/, and possibly other boards. All threads and posts about the topic, save for those on /pol/, were quickly deleted.

Some posters from /mlp/ in particular took great offense at these revelations, claiming that MQrB8x2X was "Scruffy", aka the /mlp/ janitor. The basis for these claims was apparently the fact that MQrB8x2X had posted extensively in defense of the moderation in threads relating to /mlp/, and made some comments relating to content producers and moderation which some posters took offense to. However, at this time, even if it is assumed the allegations regarding MQrB8x2X being a janitor are true, there is no hard evidence suggesting that he is involved in moderating /mlp/.

The events as they transpired were noted on the 4chan IRC channel. Moderator I_AM_ABIB dismissed the claims by !DwgeSpOOKY as false, pointing out that some of the claims of his activities as a janitor were untrue, specifically the claim that he did "old thread pruning(...)on /v/". What impact this has on the legitimacy of his other claims is unknown.

Nearly a day after the first /q/ thread was posted, !DwgeSpOOKY posted in a /q/ thread about the leaks with the ID 1wVVdJV0, offering to answer more questions. After some time, he was banned, and his posts in the thread were deleted.

As of this writing, no member of the 4chan staff have officially commented on this matter, nor has MQrB8x2X made a post responding to the allegations (or any post at all) since the original /q/ thread was posted.
