  1. There are 13 Skills in Pokemon Tabletop United. Each of these Skills is tied to a particular Capability, as detailed in the explanation of each skill below.
  2.
  3. When thinking about Skills, it's important to differentiate between your Skill Level and your Skill Modifier.
  4.
  5. Your Skill Level is the raw, unmodified number of times your skill has been raised. Every Trainer begins with a "Skill Level" of 0 in all Skills. By acquiring Features that are tied to that Skill, or by investing a Learning Point to increase a Skill's Level, a Trainer's Skill Levels will quickly go up. If your Skill Level is 0, you subtract -2 from Skill Checks for that skill, as if your Skill Level is -2.
  6.
  7. Your Skill Modifier is the number you actually add to your Skill Rolls. Your Skill modifier is equal to the sum of your Skill Level and the tied Capability, divided by two. For example, a Trainer with an Agility of 7 and an Acrobatics Skill of 3 would roll have a Skill Modifier of +5.
  8.
  9. Success and Failure
  10.
  11. Unlike Accuracy Checks which are made using a 1d20, Skill Checks are made using 2d10. Simply roll 2d10 and add your Skill Modifier. However, if your Skill Level in a Skill is 0, subtract 2 from your Skill Check.
  12.
  13. When making general Skill Checks (that is, Skill Checks caused by a situation rather than directly called for by a Feature), your DM first determines a Difficulty for the check, and you must roll your skill and match or exceed the difficulty on your roll to succeed the challenge.
  14.
  15. An "easy" skill check might have a Difficulty Check, or DC, of 5 or 10. An "advanced" skill check might have a DC of 15. And a challenging Skill Check could have a check of 20 or even 25, or even higher if the situation calls for it.
  16.
  17. When a Feature calls for a check, there will usually be a pre-set Difficulty Check. Likewise, you must match or exceed the DC to pass the Check.
