  1. Coastward's Smash 4 Demo Master list. (IN PROGRESS.)
  2.

  4.
  5. Wavebouncing is still in the game.
  6. RARing is still in the game.
  7. Ledge cancelling is still in the game.
  8. Pivot cancelling is still in the game.
  9. QA cancelling is still in the game.
  10. Jablock is still in the game.
  11. Dashdancing is still in the game.
  12.
  13. You can now throw out moves after an air dodge. Shoutouts to Zero for pointing that out to me.
  14.
  15. Rolling is super fast in this game, feels like the speed of certain wavedashes. Uncertain if it would be easy to punish with the game's fast ground speed.
  16.
  17. Wavebouncing would probably be useful in this game since the ledge mechanics have somewhat changed.
  18.
  19. RAR is really great in this game. It's seems easier to execute and really beneficial. You can dash to the ledge and turnaround cancel to drop down and grab the ledge. OP.
  20.
  21. Ledge cancel is heavily in this game. Seems like it's also really easy to execute. More stuff can be found with this obviously.
  22.
  23. Pivot cancelling is HUGE. Not only can you pivot from the start up of your dash, but you can cancel it at ANYTIME. It's also easier to pull off. Fsmash pivots and ftilt pivots seem really good, and are probably gonna be a thing in the metagame. Dashing behind your enemy and then doing a raw pivot fsmash is gonna be too good. You can pivot basically any move. Downsmash may be a bit hard since it will throw out a dash attack, but moves like usmash and dtilt all work.
  24.
  25. QA cancelling is still in, but it feels harder to do. You have to be super precise with it.
  26.
  27. Jablock is in the game, sorta. You can jablock your enemy 3 times, and then anything after that knocks your enemy into a stnading position like a regular reset.. Good job Sakurai.
  28.
  29. Dashdancing is also in the game, sorta. You can dashdance in the game by dashing back and forth really fast, like really fast. You basically dash dance in the spot, so it really isn't that useful. But its there, its definitely in the game.
  30.
  31. Throws in the game seem to have little hitstun and knockback. Since were playing against computers, its hard to tell if some combos work out of throws since theres not any proper DI or immediate action. But computers seem to act out pretty fast out of downthrows , it grab combos may not work at low percentages.
  32.
  33. Combos in this game are great. There are a lot of autocancelled moves that make it easier to follow up combos since it's so much faster. Soft hitboxes also make it easier to make good combos as well. Not exactly sure on "set combos" yet though since were playing against computers and there isnt proper DI/immediate action, but some of the ones we found seem legitimate.
  34.
  35. Mario:
  36. • Aerial game is super strong. He can chain a lot of aerials like uair and dair in consecutive hits to get easy and fast percentages. Multiple uairs seems like the way to go after you get your opponent launched.
  37.
  38. • Dthrow was severly nerfed. Using it at low percents seems risky to use as there's literally no hitstun on it, which means you can get punished afterwards. Dthrow > fair seems hard to pull off since theres not much knockback and it becomes harder to connect at high percents as well. Avoid using.
  39.
  40. • Dair, bair and nair seem to autocancel. Fair has a bit of landing lag but overall Mario is very fast.
  41.
  42. • Bair seems to be the main move to use for edgeguarding, fair is risky to use offstage.
  43.
  44. • All of Mario's tilts are great, but his utilt is his best due to how easy it is to throw into a combo. Uthrow into utilt is recommended. Dash attack is pretty good too. Dtilt > fsmash works alot.
  45.
  46. • Fireballs are pretty standard compared to Brawl, FLUDD IS GARBAGE DONT USE IT. Cape has a large hitbox and has the same effect as Brawl.
  47.
  48. • Upb will most likely be used as a combo finisher if you cant kill your opponent. Uair/nair > upb works most of the time.
  49.
  50. • Mario combo on link: dthrow > utilt x2 > dthrow > utlt x3 > uair > bair > usmash > fair > usmash > ???
  51.
  52. Link:
  53. • Link has really improved. Nair and bair seem to auto cancel while fair has very little landing lag. Dair and uair have a lot of landing lag unfortunately. Link has a really strong ground due to how fast he can throw out his moves now. His tilts are really good as well, utilt has a bit of lag on it though. Link's dash attack is fairly good too.
  54.
  55. • Link's projectiles seem buffed as well, similar to Project M. Bombs blow up faster and boomerangs travel faster. BOMBS CANNOT BE BLOWN UP IN THE AIR FROM LINK'S OWN MOVES, it can blow up from being held too long, but can not blow up from upb or uair.
  56.
  57. • Link's dtilt meteor spikes now. You can also charge upb, taking traits from toon link.
  58.
  59. • Smash attacks are really slow. Forward smash and down smash feels like brawl while up smash is the fastest of the 3. Usmash also does the most damage.
  60.
  61. • Link's grab is similar to N64. The chain no longer drops to the floor and it has less lag. Uthrow and dthrow are probably his best grabs due to the small knockback for combo setups.
  62.
  63. • Link's jabs can combo into his upb.
  64.
  65. Pikachu:
  66. • All around super great awesome character. Virtually no landing lag on his moves except for dair, strong smash attacks with a great ground and air game.
  67.
  68. • Fair and nair auto cancel and are extremely good for comboing. Ledgejump > fair > anything is a legit combo at low percents due to the autocancel. Fair also has a meteor spike on the underside of the hitbox now, so using it as edgeguard is extremely nice. Uair seems to have a set knockback and different hitbox now, so there might not be pineapple spikes anymore.
  69.
  70. • Upb seems to move a little bit slower to me, but you can still cancel it. Thundershock has a bit of landing lag and skull bash is pretty strong too.
  71.
  72. • Uthrow and dthrow are his best throws, you can literally combo into anything at any percent with these grabs. Dthrow > nair > nair > uair seems to be a legit combo.
  73.
  74. • All of his tilts are great too, good damage and knockback with little animation lag. Great to use alongside with pivots.
  75.
  76. • Downb has been nerfed a tiny bit. It doesnt stay out as long, and the knockback isnt that great anymore. It also doesnt have that big of a reach anymore, but the cloud does have a meteor spike.
  77.
  78. • In my opinion, best character so far.
  79.
  80. Megaman:
  81. • Seems to have a strong keepaway game and a good aerial game. Nair, fair and bair have no lag while uair and dair have quite a bit. His offstage game is really superb, edgeguarding will be his strong point. This man can possibly ken combo.
  82.
  83. • Tilts seem a bit weird with Megaman. His utilt is a shoryuken, good knockback and damage. Dtilt is his ground dash, it doesn't reall combo with anything but I may be wrong with that. Ftilt is the lemon pellets which is godlike. Core mechanic to his keepaway game.
  84.
  85. • Smash attacks are great, usmash especially. Combos with uair really well and can get easy percentage. Fsmash is sorta slow, but it has a lot of damage and a huge hitbox, can hit from behind. Downsmash also has a lot of damage and a big hitbox as well.
  86.
  87. • Leaf shield comes out pretty slow, and it isnt that useful. Crash bomb doesnt seem to be that great either, it's mostly good for spacing. Recovery is pretty mediocre in terms of horizontal movement but has a great vertical reach.
  88.
  89. • Megaman can instantly get out of certain hitstun by using upb, AKA Rush Cancel. Credit to VGBootCamp.
  90.
  91. Villager:
  92. • Still on the fence with Villager, but he's still a great character. Fair and bair are great for edgeguarding and he has a amazing ground game. Dair and uair has a bit of landing lag, but fair bair and nair are all fast. Great aerial movement and combo game as well. Uair and dair have random knockback if im not mistaken, so its definitely a toss up to use in combos.
  93.
  94. • Tilts are super strong, ftilt makes it seems like its his fsmash. I dont know how you would work dtilt into combos but its there lol. Utilt is also really good for combo launchers. Most likely gonna be using utilt the most.
  95.
  96. • Smash attacks are decent. Fsmash is pretty slow but has good damage and knockback. Same deal with usmash. Dsmash is really good, has good range and can combo into fsmash. Needs more exploration.
  97.
  98. • Special attacks are his best thing. Upb his probably the best recovery in the game since it lasts forever. Sideb and be used as a horizontal recovery option AND an offensive option. Downb is pretty fast surpisingly. The tree comes to life pretty quickly and it falls pretty quick as well. Easy combo with dsmash. Gyroid's damage is based on distance and whether or not Villager is riding it.
  99.
  100. • Villagers throws are pretty meh. His only really good option is dthrow since it can easily lead to combos, but at certain percentages uthrow and fthrow can lead into stuff.
  101.
  102. • Villager can pocket Pickahu's downb. If Mario capes a falling tree, Villager can pocket his own tree. HE CAN POCKET THE BOWLING BALL TOO. OKAY HE CAN POCKET PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING.
  103.
  104. • Villager's tree has a hitbox when sprouting. Knockback makes you go pretty high into the air.
