  70. Bio: Originally a Molvonian noble family, the Leighs had the honor of swearing their fealty directly to the king, providing his armies with warriors and mages alike for nearly two hundred years. Teagan was but one of their number, a minor member of the family whose skill with a blade was, while never the stuff of stories, great enough to see him live through the many wars of those days. More noteable by far was his interest in history and tactics, exceeded only by his skill with the pen. His written accounts of the battles in which he fought had the good fortune to be appreciated by others amongst the nobility, but it was not until he penned An T-ardú de Jaelun--an epic poem recounting the legends of the Kingdom's founder--that he drew the attention of the king himself. His work was praised and lifted into the ranks of Molvonian literary canon (such as it was), and the man himself was knighted by the king's hand, granting him no small measure of fame at the time.
  71.
  72. Unfortunately, the days that followed were grim ones for him and his family. The king died and was succeeded by his son, Elodie's grandfather, whose disagreements with the patron of the Leigh clan were legendary. All it took were a few more pushes before the king found justification enough to banish him and seize the Leigh lands, redistributing them to more loyal members of the family, and offering not a small portion to Teagan himself.
  73.
  74. Rather than accepting, the still-fairly-young man departed with many others of the clan, heading south and enduring many a danger before they settled in Midas. Strange as it was to many of the Leighs, Teagan took to the new land as a fish took to water. He expanded his already impressive classical education at their universities, and within a short time he began to actively teach his preferred fields of history and literature. And so he was content, for many a year, until a missive was delivered to his family abode from the new Queen herself, offering his family a pardon and a restoration of their old status, if not their lands. After a few days discussion, it was decided that several members of the family would return north--Teagan amongst them--and see if the exile could be ended properly.
  75.
  76. Of course, Teagan left most of that business to the younger men; the ones who would truly go on to lead the family properly. In truth, he was more interested in visiting old friends and studying the war itself. After all, while he could no longer wield a blade as he once had, his interest in military history was as strong as ever, and the old man sensed that he could write a tale or two for this one.
