  1. [10:12] Havocfett The latest expedition out of Foothold sets out on the verge of summer, under a sunny, orange-tinged sky.
  2. [10:12] =-= Icarus is now known as Morcaed
  3. [10:13] -->| Mr_Sandman (Mibbit@B657C6CE.E551A5F9.25E42131.IP) has joined #Sheol
  4. [10:13] =-= Pattermast is now known as Civin
  5. [10:14] Havocfett They're heading Northwest, into the Vordt Steppe. Where a mere week ago the land was a frigid steppe, covered in long grasses, now all the grass is dead and rotted away
  6. [10:14] Havocfett And new growth, the beginnings of tiny shrubs, have begun to take their place
  7. [10:15] Havocfett The transition into the steppe is drastic, especially for those new to Sheol. A clear line in the ground separates the Isonzo Plains from the icy Steppe, and the temperature change happens over the course of a footstep.
  8. [10:18] Jack Jack is a young man, bronze skin tanned heavily with a short shock of messy brown hair. His nose is slightly crooked from a old break, and he has a small scar from a old split lip. He's wearing a pair of loose white pants and a matching shirt, with a long crimson scarf looped around his neck that trails after him in the breeze.
  9. [10:19] Jack doesn't react too much at the sudden temperature change, he continues moving with his quarter staff in hand.
  10. [10:20] |<-- Sarpedon has left irc.magicstar.net (Ping timeout: 488 seconds)
  11. [10:21] Beyza Beyza tucks a couple stray strands of red hair into his slowly-becoming characteristic black tricorne as they march, and wears studded leather armor colored much the same as his hat. He takes the temperature change with little fanfare, though a careful eye would reveal that some goosebumps have raised up along his well-tanned skin.
  12. [10:21] Clarity looks much the same as usual. It seems she still hasn't spent much of her share from Van Cave on anything. The same weathered chainmail rests on the same dark skinned tiefling. Her shield looks a bit more clean than the last time anyone has seen it, at least. Currently, she's using one leathery wing to keep the sun out of her eyes.
  13. [10:22] Beyza The twin rapiers that he keeps tucked into his belt .0
  14. [10:23] Morcaed A hooded figure walks at the front of the pack. What little bare skin is visible is dark like chocolate, dotted with runic figures drawn in mossy greens. She walks with a crooked stick, though most could tell she wasn't really leaning into it. A closer look would reveal gnarled and chipped bark at the ends.
  15. [10:24] Civin A dark-skinned dwarf messes furtively with a folder stuffed with papers, trying to cram it between his bedroll and mess kit within his pack as he rides on his donkey. He's shortish for his race, about 4'3", with a close-cropped beard, mousy brown hair cut in a monk's bowl cut, and an amulet of Oghma chained about his neck. His skin was clearly once a dark brown; however, a century's life...
  16. [10:24] Civin ...spent sitting in a library or laboring under a roofed monastery has drained a lot of the color from his face over the years. He stops a moment, peers at the handle of the warhammer strapped across his back for a moment, then shrugs, continuing to jam it in as best he can.
  17. [10:24] -->| AndroUser2 (~androirc@1400DB12.93F7BBFF.D646F2B3.IP) has joined #Sheol
  18. [10:25] Jack "And then I kicked the last guy off the ledge and he landed on a pile of garbage. . . that or a hobo, never did find out." Jack finishes one of the many stories of his childhood in the slums.
  19. [10:25] Beyza The twin rapiers that he keeps tucked into his belt do not glint in the sunlight, their blades carefully rubbed with charcoal to keep them from shining.
  20. [10:25] Morcaed Occasionally she would glance back to the rest of the convoy, her vividly brown eyes focusing on nothing in particular and everything at once.
  21. [10:26] Clarity What /is/ new is the thing she's riding atop. It looks.../vaguely/ like a horse, in that it's approximately the same size as a warhorse and has basically the same body plan, but that's more or less where the similarities end. Its skin looks like chitin made of porcelain, and between the cracks there's something with a slimy dark red sheen.
  22. [10:26] Clarity It tries to nuzzle Morcaed in a friendly fashion.
  23. [10:28] Morcaed A faint smile touches her lips as she directs her attention at the creature. She mutters something softly in druidic and runs her hand through its mane.
  24. [10:28] Havocfett The group's journey starts out reasonably uneventful. A group of flying creatures, things the embassy from Kadi call 'pterosaurs', circle overhead for a while, and Jack, Beyza, and Morcaed notice that the shrubs are growing /far/ more quickly than they should
  25. [10:28] Havocfett But nothing shows up that would meaningfully slow their travel
  26. [10:30] Jack "Anyone else worried that we haven't seen a griffin yet?" Jack scans the skies
  27. [10:30] Civin "Why? Is that common here?"
  28. [10:30] Beyza "Don't," Beyza says sternly.
  29. [10:30] Civin glances about furtively at the mention.
  30. [10:31] Civin none-too-subtly grips the back of his donkey's neck as well.
  31. [10:31] Clarity "We've had, ah, encounters." Clarity says, shooting Jack a look.
  32. [10:31] Jack sheepishly scratches the back of his head "Sorry. . ."
  33. [10:31] Havocfett Almost five hours into their travels, however, the pterosaurs scatter and the group spots a Wyvern flying in the distance, headed south. It has tattered holes in its wings, and several spears and arrows stick out of its hide. They soon spot those responsible, a large group of gnolls and hyenas in hot pursuit, occasionally firing arrows or spell-blasts
  34. [10:31] Havocfett towards their quarry
  35. [10:32] Civin "Shit. Arse. Feck."
  36. [10:32] Beyza "Don't," Beyza warns again, this time at Civin.
  37. [10:33] Civin shoots back a mildly disbelieving glance at Beyza. Seriously? A prudish adventurer?
  38. [10:34] Jack "Hey, that one is waving at us!" Jack waves back.
  39. [10:34] Beyza He looks back at Civin, then to the gnolls and hyenas, and then down to Civin's weapons.
  40. [10:36] Civin Speaking of, his hand IS twitching - not towards his warhammer, but towards the amulet around his neck.
  41. [10:37] Civin "Odds on those things coming at us? 50/50?"
  42. [10:38] Beyza "No."
  43. [10:38] Civin "Mmm."
  44. [10:38] Beyza "Though honestly..."
  45. [10:38] Morcaed "Wyverns are simple-minded. It's attention is thoroughly devoted to its hunters."
  46. [10:39] -->| Sarpedon (~chatzilla@B962031A.16002CCF.EBB7919A.IP) has joined #Sheol
  47. [10:39] Morcaed "Perhaps it'll be fortunate enough to evade them."
  48. [10:40] Civin "You don't sound too pleased about that."
  49. [10:41] Jack "You guys want to go say hi? See if they want help? Might be good to contact them or something like that."
  50. [10:43] Beyza "Paladin speaks Abyssal, and I need practice with the bow anyway," he says, patting his shortbow and full quiver and heading toward the hunting party as if the matter was settled.
  51. [10:43] |<-- AndroUser2 has left irc.magicstar.net (Connection reset by peer)
  52. [10:43] Civin "So's long as we can get it on the ground, for sure."
  53. [10:43] -->| AndroUser2 (~androirc@1400DB12.93F7BBFF.D646F2B3.IP) has joined #Sheol
  54. [10:43] Civin "One less bastard flapping around trying to get the smaller bastards."
  55. [10:44] Morcaed Morcaed narrows her eyes. "Wyverns are brethren to the dragons. I like this not."
  56. [10:45] Beyza "Dragons eat people," Beyza points out reasonably.
  57. [10:45] Clarity "Would you rather it be run ragged by the gnolls?"
  58. [10:45] Jack "I have a idea too. . ." Jack grabs a length of chain from the pack-mull and loops it around his arm and shoulders.
  59. [10:46] Clarity "It doesn't look like it will be able to escape from them. Wouldn't it be better to end it's suffering quickly?"
  60. [10:46] Morcaed grunts. "Let's make it quick."
  61. [10:47] Clarity nods, and starts riding over to the gnolls.
  62. [10:47] Civin starts strapping a bolt into his crossbow, then.
  63. [10:49] Havocfett The group wheels to join the Hunt, and one of the gnolls, a female standing taller than the others with a pair of enormous hyenas at her side, diverts to meet them. Those who participated in First Contact with the gnolls recognize her as one of the Lady's personal guard. An officer of some sort named Ruth, after the Dwarven Heroine
  64. [10:49] Havocfett "Hail!" she calls, "What brings you to the Steppe?"
  65. [10:51] Clarity "Hail." Clarity responds. "We came to help rid the steppe of its bandit problem. We were off to look for the base of the Chokman bandits."
  66. [10:52] Havocfett "I," she struggles for the words in common, then switches to Abyssal, "I'm sorry, if we knew where they were we'd have killed them already."
  67. [10:54] Havocfett "We can offer you a cut of Wyvern Meat in a bit, though," she says, "Faster if you let our mage ride with you."
  68. [10:54] Clarity waves off her apology and switches to Abyssal as well. "That's quite alright, we just came over in case you wanted our assistance with the hunt."
  69. [10:55] Clarity smiles. "That sounds fine to me."
  70. [10:55] Jack smiles and slams a fist into a open palm. "I'm always down for a fight."
  71. [10:56] Havocfett "Excellent!" she directs a mage onto the back of Clarity's horse and motions to the rest of the group, switching to Common again, "Run with us and kill the Wyvern, and you can join us for lunch, yeah?"
  72. [10:56] Havocfett "We'll even try to-" she struggles with words again, "Keep the Reph off the menu."
  73. [10:56] Civin
  74. [10:56] Jack "Food and a fight! You guys are awesome!" Jack laughs as he runs alongside the horse, somehow able to keep pace.
  75. [10:57] Havocfett One of the gnolls translates the joke and there's some laughing, and then the pack takes off in pursuit.
  76. [10:58] Havocfett Clarity and Jack are able to range ahead of the group, and the mage (A small male gnoll in expensive robes, reading an oversized scroll) casts a spell as they close
  77. [10:58] Havocfett Bands of golden light appear around the Wyvern's rings and it roars, outraged, as it slowly descends towards the ground
  78. [10:59] Havocfett It crashed in a cloud of dust, as they pack closes onto it, and then /explodes/ out of the crater, trying to kill its pursuers.
  79. [10:59] =-= Havocfett has changed the topic to “Initiative Track: Beyza: 15 Jack: 14 Morcaed: 11 Civin: 10 Wyvern: 10 Clarity: 9 | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5llaSW0Bxy4”
  80. [11:02] Beyza The half-elf is the first to leap at it, managing to find a soft spot with one rapier, though the other is uselessly deflected off of hardened scales.
  81. [11:03] Jack leaps into action, he slams the staff into the wyvern and follows up with a spinging kick to the face before he shifts back out of it's reach.
  82. [11:09] Civin goes charging for the griffin, roaring as he swings his hammer in for an upward hammerblow!...though he only gets a glancing shot, raking it in the knee as he goes charging past it.
  83. [11:09] Morcaed breaks into a sprint towards the ruined creature. Within one step she morphs, her silhouette blurring as her hood and cloak fuse into fur and claws. Her battle cry pitches down into a guttural roar as she falls to all fours.
  84. [11:11] Havocfett The Wyvern rages as it's pummeled from all sides and lashes out, almost blindly. It stabs Ruth with its stinger, and though injured the Gnoll doesn't seem fatally injured, and bites the young man riding behind Clarity, injuring him badly.
  85. [11:11] Morcaed She tries to end the fight as quickly as possible, teeth flashing towards the wyvern's neck. She draws only skin deep, the creature's scales warding off the lethal blow. She leans her full body weight into a tackle, her claws swiping in a furious attempt to pierce the wyvern's scaly hide.

  88. [11:18] Clarity Clarity's steed charges forward, ignoring its passenger's injury, galloping straight for the wyvern. As it reaches the creature, the horse jumps up and onto the wyvern's head, running at full strength across the length of its body.
  89. [11:18] Clarity The tiefling herself strikes a nasty blow onto one of its wings, shattering the bone.
  90. [11:19] Havocfett The Wyvern reels from its injuries and roars, the ground shaking from its wrath
  91. [11:19] Havocfett It rears up to defend itself
  92. [11:19] Havocfett and takes a spear through the roof of its mouth
  93. [11:20] Havocfett there's a moment where the Wyvern teeters, then it collapses to one side and dies, nearly crushing the young gnoll who threw the killing blow
  94. [11:21] Havocfett There's a lot of cheering and laughing from the gnolls and their hyenas, and they quickly set about carving up the wyvern for parts
  95. [11:21] Jack "Yeah!" Jack joins the cheering
  96. [11:21] Civin puts away his warhammer, engages in a bloodstained, polite golf clap, nodding approvingly.
  97. [11:22] Havocfett They give the group meat to cook, as well as valuable parts of the Wyvern, scales and teeth and bone. One of the wyverns, a smaller female, cuts off the stinger at the end of the Wyvern's tail and begins squeezing a green, hissing liquid from it into vials
  98. [11:23] Havocfett One of the vials is passed to the group as thanks. They're told that it is Wyvern poison, and Not For Drinking
  99. [11:23] Jack "Not for eating, got it." Jack nods seriously.
  100. [11:24] Jack smiles "Always wanted to see what Wyvern tasted like too." He eyes his share of the meat with a speculative grin.
  101. [11:25] Havocfett Once the valuable parts of the Wyvern are cut up and assembled to one side, the gnolls and their pets don't bother cooking the Wyvern before digging in, crunching bone and swallowing raw meat.
  102. [11:25] Clarity heals the gnoll that was riding with her, and enjoys the lunch.
  103. [11:26] Havocfett The gnoll thanks her profusely and joins the rest in the eating
  104. [11:27] Havocfett After eating and packing their new, macabre loot, the group continues on their path. They head northwest until nightfall, where they stumble onto a long-disused road and the ruins of a roadside building of some sort. It's comfortable enough, and provides some shelter against the possibility of a sudden reinfall, making it an ideal choice for shelter
  105. [11:28] Beyza is careful about handling the offered vial as he pockets it, eying it with speculative appreciation.
  106. [11:32] Havocfett The night goes without incident, and in the morning, the group sets out once more
  107. [11:33] |<-- AndroUser2 has left irc.magicstar.net (Ping timeout: 481 seconds)
  108. [11:33] Havocfett A herd of horse-sized armored quadrupeds with clubtails, supposedly called 'Ankylosaurs' by the locals, has set up by their camp during the night, but they ultimately don't take particualr notice of the group as they head out
  109. [11:34] Jack eyes them hungrily "Later Jack, you got Wyvern meat today. . . Some other time. . ."
  110. [11:34] Civin watches them as they pass, taking note of any odd grazing patterns they may be taking as they go. Could be useful if tamed.
  111. [11:36] Havocfett However, a mere four miles into their journey, the group spots something bizarre. They can see the tops of several trees, but only the tops, coming out of a pit in the ground. The pit has jagged edges with steep falls on three sides, and on the last has a gentle slope leading into it
  112. [11:37] Havocfett Water flows /uphill/ out of the slope, draining into the land some hundred or so feet away from the entrance
  113. [11:37] Jack blinks and rubs his eye
  114. [11:37] Jack "The fuck?"
  115. [11:37] Civin "Well. That's...that's not something you see every day."
  116. [11:38] Civin "Like a reverse waterfall."
  117. [11:39] Beyza "Wizards?"
  118. [11:39] Civin scans the sides of the pit. Is there some example of water damage, such as discolored soil around the rim, or a change in the rock formation where erosion would show up?
  119. [11:41] Civin "...Hm. It's like...this DID hold its fair share of water, but not long enough to be a lake proper."
  120. [11:41] Civin points at a willow at the center, covered by a small pool.
  121. [11:42] Civin ...Aaaaaand then at the orcs that appear to be our targets, near the rim.
  122. [11:43] Jack peers forward, looking around carefully
  123. [11:43] Jack "Nobodies keeping watch," Jack gestures to a trail "And there's the trail."
  124. [11:49] Havocfett Jack and Beyza sneak closer, while the rest of the group stays a slightly safer distance away. They can see five Orcs, one fishing, one still yelling at the one fishing, two counting loot out of a large sack, and one across the clearing, partially hidden by bushes, pissing against the walls of the pit.
  125. [11:49] Havocfett They can also see the willow properly, the pool, and that there's an entrance to a cave behind the orcs
  126. [11:50] Havocfett that the water flows out of
  127. [11:50] Havocfett None of the orcs are paying much attention to their surroundings
  128. [11:53] -->| Drachyench (~Malahite@MagicStar-DD7018BF.hsd1.md.comcast.net) has joined #Sheol
  129. [11:54] =-= Havocfett has changed the topic to “Initiative Track: Beyza: 15 Jack: 14 Orcs: 11 Morcaed: 11 Other Orcs: 11 Civin: 10 Pissing Orc: 10 Clarity: 9 | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5llaSW0Bxy4”
  130. [11:56] Jack tumbles out from under the bushes, sweeping his targets legs from under them with his staff before smashing it in the throat with a open-palm strike, crushing the windpipe.
  131. [11:56] Beyza Their tranquil(?) afternoon is interrupted with severe violence, as at almost the same time as Jack attacks one Beyza leaps out at another, rapiers scoring painful wounds against the unwary orc
  132. [11:56] Beyza .
  133. [12:03] Jack sprints to the other side of the lake and lashes out at the ork who is fishing, but finds the footing to be more treachorous than expected and fails to lay down a kiling blow.
  134. [12:03] Beyza Even as the orc comes to a more full alert it only saves him from one of Beyza's strikes; the other finds its mark, and sends the orc to the ground, unable to get up.
  135. [12:04] Havocfett The Orc drops his fishing pole in surprise and, bizarrely enough, drinks from the pool of water
  136. [12:04] Havocfett His wounds heal as he and his ally turn, raining blow after blow upon Jack
  137. [12:06] Morcaed stands stock still, her hooded gaze turning to the orc farthest from the party. She doesn't say anything, or lift a finger. But the orc can see her eyes. Too bright, too vivid a brown to be natural.
  138. [12:07] Havocfett The orc freezes, and the party can hear a faint tinkle slowing to a stop
  139. [12:08] Civin Evidently of the same mind, Civin dashes forward, grabbing his amulet as he chants under his breath. Yanking it towards the orc that managed to heal itself, he blasts it with a wave of energy that holds it stock-still.
  140. [12:08] Havocfett Morcaed's orc shakes free of the effect and begins to redo his pants and grab his weapon

  142. [12:14] Clarity Clarity's horse charges through the water towards the orc redoing his pants, and Clarity swings her warpick at him twice.
  143. [12:14] Beyza O
  144. [12:14] Beyza I'ma stab the unwounded but engaged orc
  145. [12:14] Beyza preferably twice
  146. [12:14] Beyza 1d20+5
  147. [12:14] Clarity The orc manages to dodge out of the way of both attacks, displaying unnatural dexterity.
  148. [12:16] Civin "QUIT WHIFFING."
  149. [12:17] Jack attakcs the paralized orc, but fails to really do any damage.
  150. [12:17] Jack "SHUT UP!"
  151. [12:17] Beyza Beyza hurtles past the orc that Jack is menacing to the one that is trying to menace him in retaliation, and sends a rapier through his eye and poking out of the other side; the orc goes limp.
  152. [12:17] Jack spitefully kicks the orc
  153. [12:18] Havocfett The Orc kind of murmers angrily, but can't say much
  154. [12:25] Civin shakes his head, pulls out his crossbow, and aims squarely for the orc's abdomen, nailing him with a bolt.
  155. [12:25] Civin "I said, STOP WHIFFING."
  156. [12:26] Havocfett The orc collapses, dead, and the last orc realizes that it /is/ the last orc
  157. [12:26] Havocfett It does up its pants with remarkable agility, considering the mounted paladin attempting to skewer it, and swings viciously with its greataxe
  158. [12:27] Havocfett it doesn't /hit/ anything
  159. [12:27] Havocfett But it swung
  160. [12:34] Clarity The horse rears, smacking a hoof into the Orc's gut. Clarity follows up with a textbook pair of swings that leave it brained.
  161. [12:34] Havocfett The orc collapses, and combat is done. The only sound are the members of the party and the quiet babbling of the stream
  162. [12:34] Havocfett ...and the unnaturally violent shaking of the willow
  163. [12:35] Civin oh my
  164. [12:35] Jack "So," Jack looks over the water "It safe to drink?"
  165. [12:36] Beyza looks at the willow, eyes narrowing slightly.
  166. [12:36] Civin gives it a look, shrugs, pulls out his water skin.
  167. [12:36] Civin "Well given what it did to that orc /there.../"
  168. [12:36] Jack "Fair enough."
  169. [12:36] Civin moves to top it off in the spring.
  170. [12:37] Jack sniffs the water warily
  171. [12:37] Civin ...Though I take a good handful of it in first. Get a taste for it.
  172. [12:37] Jack "Well. . ."
  173. [12:38] Civin *slurp*
  174. [12:38] Jack takes a drink from his health potion and then fills the empty vial (after cleaning it off) with the waters adn plugs it. "Rhosyn would like this probably."
  175. [12:39] Civin "Wow. That's some good stuff."
  176. [12:39] Havocfett Civin feels restorative energy flow through him as he drinks
  177. [12:40] Havocfett and then a woman steps out of the willow. She's made of wood, obviously a Dryad, but looks rather more gnoll-like than the Dryads you're familiar with.
  178. [12:41] Havocfett She looks over the group. "There are more bandits inside," she says, "And the.../thing/ that leads them. You should leave here." It takes a moment, but the group realizes that she's not speaking common, but some incomprehensible language
  179. [12:41] Havocfett and that they seem to simply understand what she's saying anyways
  180. [12:41] Jack "Uh, . . " Jack glances to the others
  181. [12:42] Beyza blinks. "You would not mind much if we killed them, would you?" he decides on, figuring that 'blunt' might well work out.
  182. [12:42] Civin bowls straight over the fact that he's understanding a foreign tongue and says "The thing?"
  183. [12:42] Clarity "What 'thing'?" asks Clarity, remembering the bandits in Van Cave.
  184. [12:43] Havocfett "I would appreciate it," she says, "But their leader is powerful, and they have my sister hostage."
  185. [12:43] Havocfett "It...appears to be an Orog, and the others think it is," she says, "But it isn't. It's /wrong/, and I can tell when it drinks of my waters."
  186. [12:44] Civin "...A creature of the Under? Coming up to the surface here?"
  187. [12:46] Civin "Odd, given the lack of cover. Does it come out at night?"
  188. [12:46] Havocfett "I am unsure," she says, "I thought it a dopple, for a while, but it is clear that it's not a shapeshifter. I think it may be a Spirit of some sort, something that has possessed the bandit's Captain."
  189. [12:46] Beyza "She just said it wasn't; so presumably it's no-" Beyza stops, and then looks at the creature, lips pursed.
  190. [12:47] Beyza "Hm."
  191. [12:47] Civin "I know she said it wasn't. I was more interested in whether it was aping their usual actions or not."
  192. [12:47] Beyza "Why would that matter?"
  193. [12:48] Civin "It doesn't to us. Might matter some to its followers, if they don't realize what it is."
  194. [12:48] Civin "Assuming it's not...controlling them, or something."
  195. [12:49] Jack "I mean we're smashing it's face in either way, right?"
  196. [12:49] Morcaed "Whatever it is, we'll do our best to defeat it. And we will save your sister."
  197. [12:49] Havocfett "Thank you."
  198. [12:49] Beyza "Unless you speak Sheol Orcish they're not going to care much for your opinion."

  200. [12:53] Havocfett The cave lies in front of the group, hidden from above by the canopy. It's dark and dank, and slopes gently downwards
  201. [12:54] Jack "Mind if I light my lantern?"
  202. [12:54] Clarity "Yes. It'll give us away."
  203. [12:55] Clarity "Just try to follow one of us, we can see where we're going." She turns to the horse. "Stay out here and watch things, will you?"
  204. [12:55] Jack "Right . . . ."
  205. [12:57] Beyza "I'll keep ahead; my steps are light and my eyes are sharp."
  206. [12:57] Civin /me wordlessly offers a hand to Jack, his eyebrow cocked.
  207. [12:57] |<-- Aldrich has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
  208. [12:57] Jack takes the offered hand with a grateful nod.
  209. [12:58] Havocfett Beyza sneaks into the cave, creeping down into its depths
  210. [12:58] Havocfett almost immediately after the entrance there's a cavern to his right, filled with bedrolls an (worthless) personal effects. There are five, presumably this is the group that they ambushed outside.
  211. [12:59] Havocfett The passage continues for about forty feet, descending about ten, before curving off to the right. He can see a high bridge above the passage, going over the stream. In addition, jsut before the bend, there's another passage that heads to the left.

  213. [13:02] Beyza heads off to the left, figuring that he may as well be proper diligent.
  214. [13:04] Havocfett The corridor echoes horribly, and he swiftly decides that heading right may be more prudent

  217. [13:14] Beyza After much exploring, Beyza makes it back to the party; he is terse and direct in explaining what he's seen, as well as that he guesses that the other three orcs are either in the echoing hallway or somewhere past the orog and orc.
  218. [13:14] Beyza "I think we should move on that orog and orc while they're isolated."
  219. [13:15] Jack 'Stick some caltrops down on the hallway so they can't sneak up on us?"
  220. [13:15] Civin "So long as we can keep him separated from his orcs? I'll agree. But we do /not/ want to get flanked."
  221. [13:16] Beyza He has described for them the echoing hallway off to the left of the fork, as well as the cavern continuing to the right; he tells them of the worked--not masterfully so by any means, but 0x1dworked0x1d--doorway, in front of which lies tables and tools -
  222. [13:17] Beyza for some sort of likely profane ceremony; he notes the willow, and its clear resemblance to the one in which the dryad aboveground resides. He speaks of the red water, and how he believes it extremely unsafe to drink.
  223. [13:19] Beyza He mentions the other path leading out of that room, and how it seems to lead to a bridge suspended above that room; he notes the possibility that the other orcs are that way as well.
  224. [13:20] Havocfett Civin regonizes the tools as altars of Elemental Sacrifice, used by evil Elemental Cults outside of the plateau. The pit is for Earth Sacrifice, where a living victim is buried alive and suffocated to death. The Pyre is for flame, where someone is burned alive. The board is water, where someone is drowned
  225. [13:20] Havocfett By Beyza's description, each of them appears to have been used multiple times
  226. [13:22] Civin "Given it sounds like they've been drowning sacrifices and abducted the dryad's sister...yes, I wouldn't drink that water."
  227. [13:22] Civin "That is a deeply desecrated cave...or consecrated, if you prefer. Depends on your choice of deity, I suppose."
  228. [13:33] Havocfett Beyza sneaks forwards to plant his caltrops when he damn-near runs /into/ a pair of Orogs, Javelins in hand and greataxes as their hips, waiting in the hallway.
  229. [13:33] Havocfett The Orogs are, fortunatley, as surprised as he is
  230. [13:36] Beyza One of them receives a nick to the cheek for his trouble and then Beyza 0x1dlegs it0x1d, and most anyone with a decent pair of ears notes that Something Dangerous Is Afoot.
  231. [13:37] Havocfett The group hears deep, Orcish yells as the Orogs kick into pursuit
  232. [13:37] Havocfett One of the Orogs simply runs onto the bridge and jumps off of it, cutting off Beyza's line of retreat
  233. [13:37] Civin "She tripped, didn't she."
  234. [13:37] Civin *he
  235. [13:37] Havocfett however, on the way down it notices the /rest/ of the party, closer to the cave entrance, and yells back to the other Orog.
  236. [13:39] =-= Havocfett has changed the topic to “Initiative Track: Beyza: 15 Jack: 14 Orog: 11 Morcaed: 11 Orog: 11 Civin: 10 Clarity: 9 | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5llaSW0Bxy4”
  237. [13:41] Jack wastes no time, sprinting down the to Breya and slips in front of her, staff held at the ready.
  238. [13:43] Havocfett The first Orog rounds the corner and runs into Jack. They're mutually pretty surprised by the other's apperance, and trade vicious blows
