  1. Moriyama, Shinichi comes to a halt at the sight of the monstrosity in front of them. His impatience to reach Akio and teach him a painful lesson away from the prying eyes of the entire world almost drove him to walk past ROCKER, but the warning signs in his head forced him to stop. Not focusing his attention on this one would be dangerous, and slacking when his sister is a hostage was something he could not afford to do.
  2.
  3. His hands are still resting comfortably inside of his pockets as he takes in the creature, meeting his silence with a curt response.
  4.
  5. "Where's Fujimoto Akio?"
  6.
  7. NOMI stops at Shin'ichi's side. She's still floating -- ah. Maybe it's more 'natural' for her. Her long, black locks go still where they hang behind her figure, and she lowers her arms to her sides. A curious gaze is cast at the figure. She is both examining it as an entity and judging it as a threat, for the sake of caution and her partner's safety.
  8.
  9. But. He's asked a different question than she would. So, she adds;
  10.
  11. "Who are you?"
  12. ROCKER: "I am ROCKER. And he. Is through here."
  13. NOMI inches forwards with the most curious gaze. The nature of this thing is odd.
  14.
  15. ROCKER: "If you come at me with anything less than your full power, you'll definitely be killed."
  16. NOMI: "Can we not simply pass through?"
  17. ROCKER: "Of course not. While your plight concerns me, it is irrelevant in the face of my own desires. You want to reclaim Moriyama Kanon, don't you? Right now she's probably being subject to Akio's twistedness. Does it make you angry?"
  18.
  19. NOMI glances to the side at Shin'ichi. She's still for a few moments, and then returns her attention to ROCKER. She does not appear perturbed on the surface. That may be because her surface is flawless, however. Many thousands of things could reasonably rage in turmoil underneath the flawless exterior of Artificial Intelligence.
  20.
  21. "I see. Then -- were we not to receive a gift?
  22. Moriyama, Shinichi does indeed feel a spark of anger at the thought of it. That's why he's already brought out and activated his Duel Disk, the D-Gazer Tattoo already burning itself across his eye. He takes an assertive step forward and meets ROCKER with a gaze that's nothing less than hostile.
  23.
  24. "I'll save Kanon no matter what, but you should worry about yourself. You might end up on the edge of death." There's no other option. He'll have to crush the person in front of him as fast as possible, so he'll pull out all of the stops.
  25.
  26. "Now, it's duel time."
  27. NOMI harbors a distaste for rushing into things. There had been that one last piece of business to sort out, and now his Duel Disk was raised. She exhales as any exasperated individual would, but understandingly and with confidence takes her place at the young man's side.
  28.
  29. ROCKER opens his arms. Then in the next moment, he's on the floor, slithering like a snake. On his belly, he approaches NOMI and Shinichi and like a snake, he was upon them before they could react with more than a flinch -if- that was even in their nature. He rises just as quickly, and looms over the battle ready Shinichi.
  30.
  31. A hand falls upon the boy's solar plexus and the world shifts. For both he and his familiar, NOMI. Everything turns upside down and when the world has finished righting itself, and everything is right-side-up again, Shinichi will notice the distance between he and ROCKER has increased. To standards suitable for Dueling. They are no longer in the canyons. But in a chilly, mountainous region. With snow as far as they eye can see. Covering the hilltops, and the mounts, completely.
  32.
  33. In this land blanketed in snow, ROCKER, Shinichi, and NOMI stand out as large black blotches. ROCKER, who raises his hand to activate his Duel Disk, also took on a stance in that instant, fit for a noble knight staring down a knave aggressor, uncouth and unskilled. "Hey..."
  34.
  35. "Don't die." He sounds less mechanical now than he had before, as if a completely different person was standing there now. Cocky and disinterested in what he was really saying, as if he didn't care if Shinichi lived or died. Truth be told, he was going to tell the boy to use his anger against him in this Duel. But, he's so glad he didn't HAVE to do that. Shinichi wasn't a dull ordinary boy. He actually caught on click.
  36.
  37. In any case---
  38.
  39. It's time.

  56.
  57. ROCKER draws. Then again, "I summon Aurora Wing." And there's the bird, "And set a card face down."
  58.
  59. It sings, no doubt perplexed unto the strategy ROCKER was using, but not argumentative in the least.
  60.
  61. ATK: 1200.
  62.
  63. "I end my turn."
  64.
  65. Moriyama, Shinichi is more of the aggressive sort when someone invades his space without a warning. But ROCKER's hand on his body provokes no violent reaction due to the sudden shift in their surroundings. By the time he can register everything being back where it should be --- his opponent is already standing far away from him, his own Duel Disk activated.
  66.
  67. There's something to be said about what just happened, but he doesn't know nor care what it is. "I won't die." It's the firm promise of someone with raw, passionate determination. There were still too many things he needed to do before dying.
  68.
  69. He draws after the end of ROCKER's turn. "I play the Magic Card, Onomatopaira. By discarding a card, I can add up to 2 Dododo, Zubaba, Gagaga, or Gogogo monsters from my deck to my hand. But I can't choose two monster from the same category." By sliding Gagaga Child to the graveyard, he adds more to his hand and continues."
  70.
  71. "I summon Dododo Witch." A teenager girl clad in what looks more like Viking attire than magician robes arrives on his field, waving her glowing wand into the air. "Now with her effect, I can special summon one Dododo monster from my hand, face-down."
  72.
  73. A logical set up. With the monster he's placing down, very few monsters can breach through its defense, which will allow him ample time to summon more monsters and end this as fast as possible.
  74.
  75. ROCKER | "I chain: I activate my face-down Trap Card, Torrential Tribute!" The slush kicks up. A downward avalanch of violent proportion that sweeps past both ROCKER and Shinichi. Taking them up and enveloping their entire lower bodies. The entire duel will be carried elsewhere and when the violent competitors are thrown back freely into the freezing landscape, it will be with a field devoid of monsters."
  76. NOMI does not properly comprehend the change that has just taken place. Though the Duel has already burst into movement, she -- is wondrous. What could create such a world? Where is it? How could such a creature exist, of the likes of which she had not encountered before?
  77.
  78. Rather, not that she remembers encountering. She slips her arms underneath her black coat out of response to the perceived 'cold', and remains off the ground, so as to avoid touching the snow with her feet.
  79.
  80. Unlike the Duel with Akio, she is present in full definition at Shin'ichi's side and will remain as such. She watches his defense rise onto the field, piece by piece. "We will have to be quick about this, if your sister is in danger. However. We should not rush."
  81.
  82. Like mentioned before, she's reminding him of the situation. Shin'ichi can become ------------- passionate, sometimes. It is both a strength and a flaw.
  83.
  84. "And, this entity seems dangerou--."
  85.
  86. Moriyama, Shinichi doesn't fight the wave of cold that sweeps over the both of them nor does he pay any more to NOMI's warning, his surprise is firmly rooted in the fact that his opponent was willing to destroy both of their fields --- especially when he had not performed an Xyz Summon yet. Was it just unwillingness to let him defend or did he know what was going to be placed face-down?
  87.
  88. "I set two cards and end my turn." Once he rises back to his feet from the violent uproar of snow, there's only one move he can make to defend himself. With all of his summons used up for this turn, he was forced to play more passively than he wanted. < I'll have to pick up the pace. >
  89. NOMI had reacted in the only sensible way -- by gliding over the tidal wave and following along. She returns to her Duelist's side now. "That's quite the Trap Card." But she isn't saying it to him. Moreover, herself.
  90. ROCKER won't let him. Even though he wishes to extract thorough results from his opponent, he has never once been lenient when in the process of dueling. When Duels are at their conclusion, then perhaps, but even that is a rarity. He will attack his prey with the full extent of his might, all the while observing their instinct for battle. Analyzing their worth and deciding whether or not they can be allowed to live in his world. In his world where one who can continue to "Rank-Up" is allowed to remain.
  91.
  92. If Shinichi cannot Rank-Up, then he'll have to get OUT.
  93.
  94. "I draw!" Fwip. Without even looking at the drawn card, ROCKER continues. "I summon Saber Shark!" Making its way to the field with a gurgling howl is a blade sporting shark, and following quietly, almost sneakily, behind it, is a bloated, faintly gurgling, angler fish. A hideos creature indeed.
  95.
  96. "And I special summon via its effect, Silent Angler. Now, I activate Saber Shark's effect and I can either boost or reduce up to twice per turn, the levels of a Fish-type monster on my side of the field." He of course targets, "Silent Angler and Saber Shark are now level 5!"
  97.
  98. Bing.
  99. Bing.
  100.
  101. Each level 4 monster on his side of the field rises in worth and value.
  102.
  103. "Now, with these two Level 5 Monsters, I construct the Overlay Network."
  104.
  105. They are decomposed until they are nothing but semi-solid bands of amorphous blue light, rising into the sky. They orbit one another in a beautiful dance, then descend, into an awaiting portal of swirling black mass. It almost looks like a galaxy. But it's reminiscent of a black hole really, absorbing the two streaks of light through the center---and then exploding outward ferociously. And so this great eruption of force, cries forth telling of the birth of a Numbers, specifically engineered to fight Shinichi at the maximum level of power ROCKER can exert.
  106.
  107. An enormous sphere descends, looking more like an orb than egg but serving as one all the same. It unfurls with a majesty that borders on terrifying

  124.
  125. "Regal predecessor of all things lurking in the deep, show yourself now! ABYSS------------SPLASHU! THE GREAT DEPTH /GOD/!" ROCKER's voice echoes and reverberates throughout the entire area. And it was so. That an enormous cobalt deity, adorned in countless royal jewels that spent thousands of years fermenting near undersea volcanoes, stared down at Shinichi with an ancient ire it had no right to possess. This was the enemy it was born to defeat and spent thousands of years in wait for. But at the same time, it was born not even yesterday.
  126.
  127. "I detach an Overlay Unit to activate ABYSS SPLASHU's effect. I can double its attack until the end phase, and since you're wide open, you LOSE!"
  128.
  129. ATK: 2400 - 4800
  130.
  131. "ABYSS SPLASHU! Attack the player directly!"
  132. It raises its scepter.
  133.
  134. "FINAL. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!"
  135.
  136. And strikes with an insurmountable amount of force.
  137. Story |: "It was a complete defeat on the second turn."
  138. Moriyama, Shinichi | "Like hell it is!" There were millions of questions that assaulted him at the moment of Abyss Splash's arrival. But the only realization that stuck to his brain was that he would lose if he didn't stop this attack --- that was enough to spur him into running forward, intent on meeting the giant's weapon unflinchingly.
  139.
  140. "Trap Card, open! Stone Bola!" Shinichi snatches the tool straight from the card rather than flipping it upward, four large marbles constructed of stone connected by one durable string. Without sparing the time to even explain the effect, he pours strength into his arms and pulls his body into a spin, using the momentum built up from his run to sling the bola into Abyss Splash.
  141.
  142. The connected spheres abruptly triple in size as they encircle the Number, binding its arms and legs together to the point where any movement would force straight to the ground.
  143.
  144. Now that the danger was averted, the Duel King exhales a white cloud of breath, casting his hand towards the bound monster. "Your monster's attack is not only negated, but it also cannot attack during your next turn." That'll buy him enough to counter attack, especially since he still has another face down.
  145.
  146. "If you were expecting an easy victory, you were wrong. This duel isn't over yet."
  147.
  148.
  149. ROCKER | Numbers 73: Abyss Splash, the Roaring Waterfall Deity is bound. Much to its surprise and dismay, the monster is bound. As one might expect, it roars. A terrible, crashing roar of frustration and it writhes about all the while. It does descend closer to the ground, rather than looming high overhead near the heavens. But, its feet never touch the snow and it still hovers high. It's just a bit easier to reach now. Easier to deal with too, like this, it seems less like a divine being and more like a simple giant.
  150.
  151. - - -
  152.
  153. "Wha--- Impossible!!" ROCKER cries. It's just an instinctive reaction ground into a duelist who's had the whole foundations of what they believed the game to be shaken up. It happens more often than you might think when one's expecting 'game'. But, as a scientist, ROCKER is intrigued. Elated even. Shinichi was fighting back. He was making up for what seemed to be piss poor results with resilience and now ROCKER was even more interested than he was before.
  154.
  155. "I end. My turn." ROCKER says after a while, exhaling audibly afterward. He turns away from Shinichi, as if not interested in him. Disturbing, as this is far from the case. He mutters to himself, all the same though and Abyss Splash's attack points return to normal, fortunately.
  156.
  157. ATK: 4800 - 2400.
  158.
  159. NOMI gazes up at the Great Depth God. The impact of his arrival had crashed over her like the very wave she had slipped out of the way of earlier. Now, at Shin'ichi's side, she is enraptured. Her fixation is upon the near-divine Monster's visage and she is allowed to remain that way rather than needing to assist her Duelist, because he's puting up his fight. A good fight. Just like they'd trained him for.
  160.
  161. But, over the years, he'd added his own flare. A blunt simplicity that marked Shin'ichi's tenacious style as something simultaneously frustrating to oppose and fascinating to watch the limits of be tested.
  162.
  163. NOMI's lips part and they shape words. "Num----bers. . . ?" This is not something she recognizes, and yet it strikes her as something especially formidable. The last Monser to strike her as such had not been called forth in quite a long time.
  164.
  165. Naturally, she is surprised. She does manage to return her attention to Duel as a whole after a short time.
  166.
  167. ROCKER keeps it coming with no intention of stopping. Ever. "Draw!" A hawk swoops down, some foreign winter bird, "I summon Blizzard Falcon!" And in a moment, it has its entire body seized from it, its right to existence snatched away due to the folly of drifting too close to this very important game. It undergoes strange and swift metamorphosis into a bird composed partially out of ice. A brave bird with a wingspan of over 6 feet.
  168.
  169. Rising from the depths of a gurgling pool of water that had appeared beneath Abyss Splash's feet due to the sheer heat that must pouring off of such an enormous monster -- maybe due to an internal power reactor of some sorts, its biology is a mystery -- is a familiar looking angler fish.
  170.
  171.
  172. "And then I special summon Silent Angler from my hand! Now, with these two Level 4 Monsters, I construct the Overlay Network." The bird sings, Blizzard Falcon, the fish gurgles, Silent Angler. They are decomposed until they are nothing but semi-solid bands of amorphous blue light, rising into the sky. They orbit one another in a beautiful dance, then descend, into an awaiting portal of solid sky-blue light. Power explodes outward, starting from the center of the portal. Diamond dust flies about everywhere. A deep roar shakes all those who hear it to the depths of their very soul.
  173.
  174. "XYZ SUMMON! RANK FOUR! DIAMOND DIRE WOLF-U!" ROCKER bellows.
  175.
  176. ATK: 2000.
  177.
  178. "By detaching an Overlay Unit from my Diamond Dire Wolf, I can target one Beast monster on my side of the field and tribute it. I target Diamond Dire Wolf!" With a gallant howl, it tributes itself, disappearing in a swirling twister of diamond dust shards. The very same twister ascends, and ascends, and ascends, before descending to wipe out Shinichi's face down card.
  179.
  180. "And when I do this! I can target one card on YOUR SIDE of the field and destroy it!" The face-down is destroyed this time. NOT the monster.
  181.
  182. "Return Damage? If you were expecting an easy victory, you were wrong. This duel isn't over yet."
  183.
  184. "I end my turn."
  185.
  186. Moriyama, Shinichi only displays a small grimace as his trap card is removed from the field. While he was going to settle for a weaker monster to bait out another full powered attack from Abyss Splash, it didn't seem that he could afford such a luxury this time. A half-hearted part wouldn't work against ROCKER and the clock was ticking every second he spent defending. He had to save Kanon no matter what, so he'd have to pull out every ounce of power to defeat his opponent and Abyss Splash.
  187.
  188. It's been a while since Shinichi used everything he had against someone, but it was a process he was sure not to forget.
  189.
  190. "I summon Gagaga Magician." Without even announcing his draw, the centerpiece of his deck appears. A male with an age that could vary from teenager to adult stands on the snowy field, his clothing a strange cross between a delinquents and a certified magician, even if there was no wand in sight. "Then I flip summon Gagaga Gardna." The chain along his chest let out a noisy clatter as another monster takes its place next to the magician, a rough looking man sporting a shield as large as its own body.
  191.
  192. "Now! I overlay the Level 4 Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Gardna!" The magician snaps his fingers and the warrior raises its shield as they're decomposed into blobs of golden light, shooting into the sky before quickly diving into the emerging portal of darkness, crackling with lightning. "With these two Level 4 Monsters, I construct the Overlay Network!"
  193.
  194. Energy explodes from the portal, but it is nothing beautiful or majestic about what emerges. It spills out into the field in a cloud of darkness, running across the feet of both ROCKER and Shinichi as bolts of electricity spread.
  195.
  196. "Fangs born from the pitch-black darkness-----" The mantra that speaks for his soul. There was always a rush that filled his body when this monster was summoned, but it never felt pleasant until right now. When this monster was brought out, it was only meant to bare its fangs at an enemy. Even since that painful day.
  197.
  198. A creature unfolds its wings within the depths of the clouds, each onealigned with a purple jewel that glittered with a faint light. Its crooked tail lashed outward, straightening itself once it was fully extended. And the golden eyes gleamed as the darkness was blown away with a flap of its wings.
  199.
  200. "----Oppose crash, foolish power! Descend now!"
  201.
  202. - X Y Z S H O U K A N -
  203.
  204. Shinichi throws his hand into the sky as a tremendous dragon appears from the Overlay Network, its body as black as night as it takes in the massive Abyss Splash. Their sizes are incomparable, but the power difference will soon be dispelled. The boy's eyes that sparkle with arcs of lightning will make sure of that.
  205.
  206. "Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!"
  207.
  208. At the sound of its name, the dragon lets out a roar that shakes the area around them even as Shinichi starts talking once more --- his eyes still gleaming. "I activate Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon's effect. By detaching an Overlay Unit, I can halve the attack of one of your monsters, and add that attack to my dragon!"
  209.
  210. Sections of its wings slide open and crack with purple energy, generating a large amount of electricity that lashes out at the Number, replacing the stone shackles with one made out of solid elecitricty. "Treason Discharge!"
  211.
  212. Abyss Splash = ATK: 2400 - 1200.
  213.
  214. Dark Rebellion = ATK: 2500 - 3700
  215.
  216. "Now, I attack Abyss Splash with Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!" Even if he used the effect twice, the duel wouldn't end there. Next turn would be the finishing blow for sure --- there were no impeding face downs to stop him. "Go! Crush that deity with your fangs!"
  217.
  218. A blue light begins to flow from Dark Rebellion's wings, similar to a jetpack expelling flames as the dragon proceeds to rocket forward with immense speed -- blasting the snow all around him into dismay. As it grows closer to Abyss Splash, it proceeds to ram into the deity with the lightning-encased 'fang' jutting from its lower jaw, the appendage illuminated by a purple radiance.
  219.
  220. "The Lightning Strike of Rebellious --- DISOBEY!"
  221.
  222. The battlefield is engulfed by the light of the attack, unleashing a storm of electricity and energy that would any normal person. Yet Shinichi gazes into the storm unflinchingly, awaiting the outcome.
  223.
  224. "This is my full power. Try and kill me if you can, but a beast of revolt can never be slain."
  225.
  226. ROCKER | Numbers 73: Abyss Splash, the Roaring Waterfall Deity | The Lightning Strike of Rebellious - DISOBEY hits Abyss Splash full on and practically in the face, the resulting sound of such a glorious collision is near deafening. But, somehow both Duelists manage to remain standing with their eardrums in tact. For, as it stands, while a beast in revolt can never be slain, the same can be said for a deific power.
  227.
  228. As soon as the smoke settles and before the dust can be swept off, Abyss Splash emerges unscathed. The only thing marred by Dark Rebellion's assault being the binding armaments of Stone Bola. Which means, on the next turn, Abyss Splash will be able to loose judgement upon the enemy. But, what weight would such judgement have? None, for even if Abyss Splash were to double its battle power, it still couldn't match Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon any longer. Perhaps if ROCKER had the Polar Ice Princess with him still... ah, but alas.
  229.
  230. Reality begins to unfurl, and the storm brought upon by Dark Rebellion's descent intensifies. The ice caps melt and are torn away at. Along with the sky. Funny and absolutely horrifying on a deep soul shattering level that is, watching the sky peel apart at the seams and be sucked upward where it steadily disappears into nothingness. The O-Zone layer and atmosphere were destroyed and the stars draw nearer. Ice, ocean, ecosystem, it's all sucked away until Shinichi and ROCKER are left standing on solid nothing.
  231.
  232. The stars race by and coalesce in the distance. They're being drawn towards a black hole.
  233. Story | Copious amounts of thick darkness pour from Shinichi. In contrast, flame-like light billows from ROCKER's body. The same can be said for the Xyz Dragon and ROCKER's Numbers monster, Numbers 73. Eventually, the two monsters show their power through resonation with one another, the auras turn into great spherical bodies that collide with one another and seek to overpower the other overhead.
