The Drow (Tenælvar in Alvan, Dökkálfar in Dwarven, Alvo Subterrenus in Vulgar Alvan) are a subterranean species of elf created by the Spider Queen Llolth through magic rituals and selective breeding nine hundred years ago. A series of failed invasions of the surface over the course of centuries eventually led to St. Mary’s Fire, where the surface empires of Alvan and Humans ignited the massive anthracite coal deposits under the mining town of Johann’s Bluff. The fires spread down through the mines and into the Drow capital which happened to be located under the town. The fires made the Drow Empire uninhabitable to its citizens, who were forced to flee deeper into the earth.

Those that went too far, however, became the crazed, cannibalistic Blood Elves (Sangualvar), a blind albino race of elves only found in the deepest pits of existence. They have no culture or community, barely having the mental capacity to do more than fight amongst themselves and eat anything that moves. Blood Elves have wrinkled maggot-white skin, sharp teeth, clawed and webbed digits, milky-white eyes, and irritated slits where their nose and ears used to be, only a bit of shriveled cartilage where the appendages once were.
