Marco's parents huddled around the kitchen table eating popcorn as Marco told the story of what happened when he got Mewnie, to them it was like watching one of their Spanish soap operas but with less infidelity and accidental incest; when it was over they almost asked for more thinking it was a story Marco was making up and not reality it was too good to be true, during this time Star remained oddly quiet.

  7. "Star you look so gorgeous in your dress" gushed Mrs. Diaz; "Stand up so I can get a good look at you sweety"

  9. Star stood up for Mrs. Diaz and did a twirl; Mrs. Diaz then turned her to face Marco by the shoulders; "Doesn't she look amazing Marco?"

  11. "Oh Mrs. D, its not that great, not a huge fan of this top only reason I haven't changed is because we left in a hurry and I didn't bring any spare clothes" replied Star

Marco had been staring the wall propping his head up with his arm on the kitchen table and looked up when he heard his mother call out to him; "Yeah mom I already told her she looks good, you can stop trying to get me to say it every 5 minutes". Marco knew he may have sounded kind of rude but he was deep in thought about what Star had told him earlier about killing herself, this had disturbed him greatly he wanted to talk to her about it but his parents showed up so it will have to wait as now is not the time.

  15. Mrs. Diaz hugged Star "So glad your back sweety and in time for your birthday no less, today I'll take you shopping for some new clothes, our treat ok?"

  17. "Oh you don't have to,honest I can-" but Mr. Diaz cut her off "No no no think of it as an early birthday present, now not another word about we won't take no for an answer."

  19. Mr. Diaz then turned to Marco who looked like he was in his own little world" Besides its the least we can do for my son's future wife if what I understand what the sword means is true; better start saving up for a ring huh Marco?...Marco...MAAARRCCOOO?"

  21. Marco snapped out of it. "POLO!, I-I mean what? sorry I was thinking about something"

  23. "I was saying that you better start saving up for a nice wedding ring"

Marco was confused; "Why would I buy a...oh...right, yeah I never should have mentioned that part of the story, King Butterfly just said that to mess with me seeing as how I was basically running away with the bride like in your and mom's novella's that and he likes drama; took acting classes apparently or something like that besides if anything of what he said was true I would also be king, yeah that's not gonna happen but I bet its the only legal way he could give me this I'm assuming ancient magical sword so I could protect Star with...now that much is true I promised him that I would look after her and I will but he already knew that he didn't have to swear me in as king to be"

  27. Marco looked at Star; "He knew that right? I didn't need to take some oath promising to do what I was already planning on doing"

  29. Star didn't say anything for a few seconds; "Yeah he likes to have fun with people, he knew"

  31. "See, told you guys so stop with the wedding invites for the time being," Marco said smiling as he picked up his sword.

  33. "Hey, dad...wanna go cut stuff with the sword?," Marco asked excitedly.

  35. "Son...you read my fucking mind".

  37. Mrs. Diaz slapped him in the belly; "Watch your language!".

  39. "What? they aren't kids anymore, bet they say the f-word just to say wish each other a nice day".

  41. Marco and Star looked at each other and grinned.

  43. "Nice fucking day out today huh Star?" said Marco.

  45. "You fucking know it, Diaz, I'm going to enjoy the shit out of this motherfucking day" replied Star and then they fist bumped.

  47. Mrs. Diaz just rolled her eyes; Marco and his dad bolted to the backyard with the sword like little children who heard the ice cream truck.

  49. "Like father like son, well at least now we can get some quality girl time huh Star...Star?"

  51. Star just sat down, looking sad when she should be happy; Mrs. Diaz rubbed her shoulder to try to soothe her; "Sweety are you ok, what's wrong?; If you need something just let me know"

  53. "I love him, I love him so much but he doesn't feel the same way" Star said finally breaking down in tears; Mrs. Diaz extended her arm around her and brought her in for a hug she didn't have to ask who she's talking about a mother just knows.

  55. "Oh Star he does love you too, Marco just has a hard time expressing himself it took him years before he could even say a word to the Thomas girl and we all knew how crazy about her he was" Mrs. Diaz said trying to re-assure her.

  57. "Its all my fault I should have told him years ago, but I could never bring myself to accept it until now and I think I missed my shot, he probably sees me more as a sibling or worse an obligation that hasn't gone away" Star said sobbing on Mrs. Diaz shoulders.

"No no no sweety, I'm sure its nothing like that listen to me now I know my son you just have to give him a chance to come around as smart as he is he can be really stupid when it comes to females I know in my heart he feels the same way about you I could see it for years almost since the day you two met".

  61. Mrs. Diaz wiped away some of the tears from Stars face with her thumb. "You are not some mistake like the Thomas girl, my son would move mountains for you, maybe he already has on one of your adventures together I don't know "

  63. "Well...there was that one time with the wand but I guess it was more of a hill then a mountain," Star said trying to smile.

  65. Mrs. Diaz gave her a re-assuring pat on the back "The day will come soon, sweetie when you two can be happy without restrictions you just have to believe in yourself and in him."

  67. "Thank you, Mrs. Diaz, sorry for crying like that, I don't know what came over me...can you not tell anyone about this?

  69. Mrs. Diaz made a motion of zipping her mouth. "It all stays between us, you have my word and if there's ever anything you want to talk about I'm always here for you Star but for now lets go clothes shopping just the two of us"
  70.  
  71. Star smiled and wiped away the last of her tears, she had forgotten what its like to have a mother that actually cares about her feelings.
