[18:12] * Rabtar our group sit on a low hill a short distance away from Trailer Trash...
[18:14] * Ragebrew reclines underneath a rocky overhang, toying with the Samaritan idly. "Figure we can use the cover of night to let us get a bit closer to... whatever the hell we're looking for." He snapped the massive mouthcannon closed, grinning.
[18:15] <Elektron> "Yes, we can use this spot to try and observe this... necromancer"
[18:16] * Midnight_Hour ([email protected]) Quit ( Connection closed )
[18:16] * Elektron he said, trying to hide any uncertainty about having to fight another pony by fidgeting with his Iron Band
[18:17] <Ragebrew> "Ya got any spy glasses on ya?" He looked over at Elektron, spinning the cylinder on his revolver style shotgun a few times, listening to it whirl smoothly.
[18:17] * Merciful_Devotion lounges on the ground, her battle saddle close by. "Nah... I'm feelin' lazy. Let me know if you ponies see anything."
[18:18] <Elektron> "Not unless you count these things" he said, gesturing to the square pair of glasses he was wearing
[18:20] * Ragebrew shook his head. "Nah doubt those would let us get a good look at 'em." He looked over at Mercy, chuckling. "Likewise. Even I like to stop and smell the roses. By the way, found this while I was harvesting." He pulled a small cactus flower out of his duster, and flicked it to Mercy.
[18:22] * Merciful_Devotion smiles and sniffs the flower. "It's beautiful~"
[18:24] * Ragebrew grins, going back to checking over his weapon. "Thought ya might like it. Figure ya could use a couple flowers in yer mane. Be a nice touch."
[18:25] <Elektron> "We might be here for a while, if this thing even decides to show" He pulls out a packet of coffee "Think you could make this Ragebrew? It should help us stay alert"
[18:26] * Zola_watching ([email protected]) has joined #piss_poor_group
[18:27] * Ragebrew looks at the package for a minute, reading the back, before checking over his alchemy kit. "Don't got a coffee pot with this... Got a kettle. Could try steeping it like a tea." He holstered his weapon, and went about setting up his kit. "Pretty low on water though, so I hope ya like it sludgy."
[18:28] * Merciful_Devotion giggles, setting the flower in her mane. "Heh, I love it~!=
[18:29] <Elektron> "I've got some water, thought its not the cleanest around. I guess it will have to do."
[18:30] <Ragebrew> "Takes a while for dirty water to build up in yer system. Plus, I got a home recipe for clearing out radiation from a pony. Just need me some rad bee wax. Hopefully from a hive that isn't built on a taint puddle..." He offered Elektron the kettle "Fill it as ya like, will take a minute to come to boil." He looked over at Mercy, smiling. "Glad to hear."
[18:32] * Elektron takes one of his dirty waters and fills up the kettle
[18:33] * Ragebrew settles everything up, watching the heating coils begin to glow red on his hotplate. "Be just a minute. This little rig likes to take it's time."
[18:38] * Ragebrew lifted the kettle from the coils after a few silent minutes split by the scream of the kettle. He poured the boiling water into a pair of mug he managed to find somewhere. Neatly, he wrapped the coffee into small pouches made out of fruit skin, and droppd them into the boiling water. "Hope ya like yer coffee a touch fruity." He slid the cup over to Elektron.
[18:39] <Elektron> "Thank you, some of Java Wave's best. Never did manage to finish my cup that morning..." he said, the smell of the coffee bringing back memories of that fateful day...
[18:41] * Ragebrew watches the dirty water slowly turn ebon. "Never had this stuff myself. Eat the beans raw a couple times in the past. Tastes awful." He took a sip, looking at Elektron get mournful looking at his cup. "Yer not the only one to have their family ripped away from 'em, ya know." He took a slow sip of the scalding liquid.
[18:43] <Elektron> "I know that... I just didn't expect to lose everypony I ever knew at once..."
[18:43] <Elektron> "Well, other than mother..."
[18:43] <Ragebrew> "Neither did I. But the Waste doesn't much care for our little plights."
[18:46] <Elektron> "Yeah... but they're still alive at least. Somewhere. I'll find them. It's been all I could think of for the past month."
[18:47] <Elektron> "Wait... what happened to your family?"
[18:47] * Elektron he said, looking up at the massive Earth Pony
[18:48] <Ragebrew> "Got wiped out by a band of zealots." He took another sip of his coffee. "My family weren't nice ponies."
[18:49] <Ragebrew> "Could understand 'em killing the adults, leave the foals. No, they would have none of that. One of 'em managed to find the camp. Popped Blood Splotch's head clean off."
[18:49] <Ragebrew> "I had planned to piss in his oatmeal that night. Poor bastard. Least it was quick."
[18:51] <Elektron> "How did you manage to survive?" he asked, tilting his head a little
[18:53] <Ragebrew> "I managed to get into the bowels of the ship, hide in the old barrack onboard. He came looking for me. Eventually he found me, along with a huge chunk of mangled metal. Reversed his horn with it."
[18:58] * Ragebrew drains the last of his coffee, chewing on the fruit skin package idly, ignoring the grainy crunch of the coffee grounds.
[18:58] <Elektron> cringed at the tale "I don't know how you can do it. Whenever I have a weapon pointed at me I just... freeze up. Nevermind the thought of even pointing it at somepony else."
[18:59] <Elektron> "Feral animals, okay. Wild robots I've delt with. But other ponies... I just can't do it..."
[18:59] <Elektron> dealt*
[19:00] <Ragebrew> "Cause yer looking at 'em like a decent pony being. Ya gotta look at 'em like they are something that wants to end yer life, loot yer body, and leave yer corpse to rot."
[19:02] * Elektron frowns, knowing it to be true but unable to accept it in his heart
[19:03] * Ragebrew sets his cup aside. "It's one of the hard truths out here. There is gonna come a time when it's gonna be yer life, or the pony behind the gun
[19:04] <Ragebrew> 's life. Yer a smart buck, ya know there is only one right answer. Just never learn to savor that feeling, and ya'll be fine."
[19:08] <Elektron> "I guess I've been lucky not to run into anypony like that, and you make it sound simple; it probably is... but I never have. When the time comes, it'll be me versus somepony who won't have any hesitation"
[19:09] <Elektron> "and the smart caps aren't laid on the engineer..." he said, fidgeting with his Iron Band some more

[19:11] <Ragebrew> "That's why ya got a team with ya, to help even the odds. Who would ya shoot first. The nerd with the recharger, or the giant with the mouthcannon right in yer face? Little do they know, the nerd's a far better shot than the giant."

[19:14] <Elektron> "Yeah... though this thing isn't very powerful, it was always better for testing the condition of repairs on robots" he said, gesturing to the rifle in his pack
[19:15] <Elektron> "I don't think that scorpion even noticed the shots on it"
[19:15] <Ragebrew> "Death by a thousand stings is still death. Plus, gives 'em more time to reconsider that offer of surrendering."
[19:15] <Ragebrew> "Those giants? They have hide that makes steel look like soft clay."
[19:17] <Elektron> "At least those are close combat only, I'd hate to have to deal with some of the robots I've worked on."
[19:19] <Ragebrew> "Never dealt with many robots. Just the occasional sprite bot, floating around with that annoying tune."
[19:19] <Elektron> "You want terror? Try a zebra robot that could launch a balefire egg. I never got that thing in working order, I refused to. Way too much potential for colateral damage"
[19:19] * Merciful_Devotion yawns and lifts her head, having dozed off.
[19:19] <Elektron> "Plus... the matrix was written in Zebra..."
[19:20] <Ragebrew> "Oh that sounds like all sorts of stupid to attempt." Looks over to Mercy. "Aye ya sleepy head."
[19:21] * Merciful_Devotion blinks. "How do I keep falling asleep?"
[19:22] <Ragebrew> "A mare needs her beauty sleep?" He shrugged, licking the dredges out of his cup.
[19:22] <Elektron> "Don't drink enough coffee" he said with a small smile as he passed the kettle "There might be a little left in here"
[19:23] * Merciful_Devotion takes the kettle in her telekinesis and takes a sniff of it. "I prefer Sparkle Cola..."
[19:24] <Ragebrew> "Sadly, don't have any of that on me. Got a couple beers, if ya'd fancy some liquid bread."
[19:24] <Elektron> "I've got one of those, want it?"
[19:25] <Merciful_Devotion> "Actually a beer sounds great!"
[19:26] * Ragebrew pulls out one of his three beers, offering it to Mercy. Then the other to Elektron, last for himself. "Eh, may as well." He popped the cap off the bottle with his teeth, and started taking a sip.
[19:27] <Elektron> he declined the beer with a wave of his hoof "Uhh no thanks, I don't drink."
[19:28] * Ragebrew looks at Elektron arching a brow. "Well, can't blame ya. Stuff tastes pretty awful, but hey, liquid calories are good for ya."
[19:30] * Merciful_Devotion pops the top with her magic and takes a good sized gulp.
[19:32] * Elektron sticks with his caffeinated beverage
[19:34] * Ragebrew just sips on his beer slowly. He started chuckling, slowly and lightly at first, but it quickly grew until a full laugh, one he quickly tried to stuffle by biting down on a fetlock.
[19:34] * Merciful_Devotion blinks at the fluffpone.
[19:34] <Elektron> "So Mercy... how do you do it? How do you convince yourself to end another ponies life? I've heard Rage's rationale.. but how do you?"
[19:36] <Merciful_Devotion> "Trust me, it's hard as all hell... Basically it's different... But I usually will only attack if /im/ attacked, and only if I can't charm'em."
[19:38] * Elektron nods solemnly, hoping he won't let everypony down when the time comes
[19:39] * Merciful_Devotion gulps her beer again. "I can feel a part of me die each time..."
[19:41] * Ragebrew had recovered from his bout of laughing, and tilts his bottle at Mercy "Better a part, than the whole thing."
[19:42] <Merciful_Devotion> "True, sadly..."
[19:42] * Elektron sighed and pulled out his photo, hoping it could give him some strength for the road ahead
[19:45] * Ragebrew shakes his head. "Ya'll been living in towns for too long. Guess ya never got a proper look at how it is in the waste. Hopefully ya never do."
[19:47] <Elektron> "Only the one town, really..." he said, giving the photo a soft nuzzle
[19:47] * Merciful_Devotion pats Elektron on the back. "Maybe, Ragebrew..."
[19:52] * Ragebrew began to pack away his kit, pouring the few drops in the kettle into his mouth before putting it all away. "I am gonna get some sleep in before we get to scouting. Just remember, ya can't be a good pony if yer a dead pony." with that, he found a nice spot to curl up and POOMF out on, quickly falling asleep after the trek earlier that day.

[19:53] <Elektron> "How did you end up out here?" Elektron asked Merciful_Devotion
[19:54] <Merciful_Devotion> "I got a job escorting a caravan out to a couple towns out here..."
[19:57] <Elektron> "And since you aren't with them right now, I assume it didn't go well?" he asked, looking to her
[19:58] * Merciful_Devotion shakes her head, finishing off her beer. "Not at all... Got attacked by raider foals from out of nowhere...

[20:00] <Elektron> "I'm sorry to hear that." he said, patting Merciful_Devotion on the back as she did minutes ago
[20:01] * Merciful_Devotion smiles. "It's not your fault... What brings you out here, then?"
[20:02] <Elektron> "Steel Rangers attacked our town, gutted it frankly. I was up early when the attack began, so I got out in time"
[20:02] <Merciful_Devotion> "Oh dear..."
[20:03] <Elektron> "My father went to try to help some of the locals and my siblings escape. He gave me this Flare Gun so we could find each others position" He said, pulling out Fidelity
[20:04] <Elektron> "He was supposed to fire his when he saw mine, but... " he choked for a second "He never did"
[20:04] * Merciful_Devotion hugs the colt. "I'm so sorry..."
[20:06] <Elektron> "I went back after the smoke settled. His body wasn't among the dead, nor my siblings... so they have to be out here, somewhere."
[20:07] <Merciful_Devotion> "Then there's still hope!" She says, smiling. "You can never lose hope..."
[20:09] <Elektron> he tried to return the smile "Yes, but that was over a month ago. Anything could have happened between then and now. I was trying to follow a rumor that Steel Rangers had sold some ponies into slavery when I met up with you ponies."
[20:10] <Elektron> "Once that rumor gets exhausted though... I'm out of ideas"
[20:10] * Merciful_Devotion nods. "I see... Tell you what, after this, we'll help you out."
[20:12] <Elektron> "Thank you. I'll help you with your quest as well." He chuckled mirthlessly "It's kinda funny. Thats all I've ever wanted to do. Make things to help ponies. Not help to help us destroy ourselves."
[20:13] <Merciful_Devotion> "All I've ever wanted to do is find ponies who still hope for a better place...
[20:14] <Elektron> He smiled a little "Maybe we should find you one of these then" he said, gesturing to the Iron Band around his right hoof
[20:15] * Merciful_Devotion blinks a bit. "What're you gettin' at?"
[20:17] * Elektron blinks back "Oh, I guess you don't know? The Iron Band was a tradition among the Equestrian Engineers of old. There's a bit of a story to it, but basically it symbolizes the Engineer's duty to the public, personal honour and integrity"
[20:18] <Merciful_Devotion> "Ah... Neat!"
[20:19] <Elektron> "I suppose I romanticise it a bit, but I've always tried to hold on to their beliefs."
[20:19] * Merciful_Devotion lies down. "Can't say I really had much in the way of beliefs... Just my morals.@
[20:19] <Merciful_Devotion> *"
[20:21] <Elektron> "One in the same. They had a code of ethics and morals to guide their behaviour, always making sure their actions were for the public good"
[20:21] * Merciful_Devotion giggles. "Mine usually just help me."
[20:23] <Elektron> "Well at least helping you doesn't mean it has to hurt others. Sometimes I think it's the only difference between my work and the Steel Rangers technical staff is that code"
[20:23] <Merciful_Devotion> "Might be."
[20:25] <Elektron> lies down beside Mercy, closing his eyes "If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?"
[20:28] * Merciful_Devotion thinks for a bit. "I'd say... I'm not sure... Everypony in our little group has become my friend... I wouldn't want to be anywhere without them..."
[20:33] * Elektron nods, "They do seem like a nice enough bunch. Maybe I'll get used to being around.. but I was never cut out for life out here. A pacifist either dies quick... or loses themself even faster"
[20:34] <Merciful_Devotion> "I'm sure you'll be fine."

[20:37] <Elektron> "Maybe... but theres always a little voice in my head asking me if this is what I want to become, a killer, that keeps me from pulling the trigger. I'm not sure how to silence it... or what will happen if I do."

[20:40] <Merciful_Devotion> "I never said hide, silly~ Aim to incapacitate... Shoot a leg, or a wing."
[20:42] <Elektron> "Yeah... I guess I could do that..."
[20:45] * Merciful_Devotion giggles. "Besides, there's non-lethal ammo out there somewhere."
[20:45] <Elektron> "Well, not for this thing" he said, nodding to the Recharger Rifle in his pack

[20:49] <Elektron> "I guess I was in such a hurry to get away I never gave thought to what I would do to survive. Never thought I would, father was always better at this wasteland stuff than me." he said, smiling sadly
[20:52] * Merciful_Devotion hugs him again. "You're fine."
[20:54] * Elektron returned the gesture "Thanks. You guys are great too." he said, sighing
[21:04] * Merciful_Devotion smiles and just let's him rest against her.

[22:07] * Long-shot yawns watching them and rolls on her back with a murr looking to Elektron "Can you pweeaassee make me a pwasma cawbine sometime?" she gives him big filly eyes
[22:10] * Elektron looks from Mercy's embrace "I think so, you looked like you had everything in your pack when I checked, but I'd also need some metal unless you wanted to melt both your face and your targets

[22:11] <Elektron> "I might also be able to transfer that custom scope, Iron Sight showed me a few tricks for that, but no promises on that part"
[22:11] * Long-shot nods and smiles "Thankies!" she giggles
[22:11] <Elektron> "And bear in mind these jury rigged things can fail a lot more than custom machined ones, so be extra cafeful with it"

[22:13] * Merciful_Devotion yawns again, letting her head rest against the ground.

[22:19] * Merciful_Devotion pulls Long-shot to her side and cuddles.

[22:31] <Elektron> "A bit better. I think I'll be able to help if we fight any ponies,"
[22:31] <Elektron> "I still can't bring myself to kill them... but I can try to get them to stop fighting."

[22:44] * Long-shot smiles "I'm glad you can, we do try to stop them from fighting" she says softly poking Merciful_Devotion for her attention and whispering something into her ear with a snicker

[22:50] * Long-shot slowly snakes out some rope from her bags sneakily giving them to Mercy with a giggles and nuzzle

[22:58] * Elektron notices the glow in the darkness "What are you doing?" he asked, his eyes going a little wider

[23:01] * Long-shot rolls on her other side showing her back to Mercy and nodding
[23:03] <Elektron> "Alright then." He said, putting his head down to the ground

[23:12] * Long-shot moves to the other side of Mercy with a few sly stretches and laying with her back to her for her 'massage' as she lays down closer to Elektron "So, how are you? Hmm?"

[23:15] * Long-shot crawls a little closer face to face murring softly "For what hmm?" she says softly with a smirk
[23:17] * Elektron blinks a little bit "For this necro...mancer... thing. To help you ponies on your quest. I won't just hide in the corner hoping for things to improve. I'll try my best." He said with the surest smile he could muster
[23:19] * Long-shot nods giving him bedroom eyes "Mmhmmm, it's really kind you would do that, thankyou" she murrs softly "If only there was some way we could repay you~" she says softly flicking her tail against Mercy's side
[23:21] <Elektron> "Well.. my family is still out there, somewhere. Maybe travelling with you I can find some more info on what happened to them." He said with renewed hope

[23:41] * Elektron his hypothesis was correct. Eyes wider than possible, he choked out "No-no, never, I've never even kissed a mare before..." he said, backpeddling a bit and finding himself against a rock

[23:43] * Long-shot smiles "Dawww, hun, let me ask you one question~" she moves a little closer holding her head up and staring to him with bedroom eyes as she draws circles in the dirt with the other hoof "Want too?" she coos
[23:44] * Elektron is utterly uncapable of speech at the moment, he can only stammer out "Muh-muh-muh-me? Whuwhuwhuwhu-why?"

[00:05] * Long-shot nods sliding to the other side of him slowly and stroking his back while nodding with what Mercy says "Mmhmm, just take a deep breath and enjoy~"
[00:08] * Elektron tries to relax, though he doubts his heart rate will slow anytime soon "All...alright.." he said, closing his eyes and lying back a bit
