  1. >On this morning Rarity had decided to make herself some pancakes from scratch.
  2. >Mixing the batter and frying them up to perfection.
  3. >However, as she removed the finished pancakes from the pan setting them on the plate, she felt something, unnatural.
  4. >She carried the plate to the table with magic removing the pan from the stove.
  5. >Rarity slathers on butter, and pours syrup over the pancakes.
  6. >Raritys younger sister Sweetie Belle was away today with her friends, leaving Rarity all alone with her meal.
  7. >She grabs the proper utensils sitting them next to the table.
  8. >Then Rarity herself sits in front of her plate.
  9. >She can't bring herself to lift the utensils once again.
  10. >Something, seems off about the pancakes.
  11. >She stares at them, observing their texture.
  12. >They seem just as ordinary as any other pancakes she's seen.
  13. >Rarity looks around the room getting the feeling shes being watched, this uncomfortable tense feeling.
  14. >She turns back to the pancakes, as she looks at them again, she feels a rising swell in her head.
  15. >Like the onset of a headache, panging at her.
  16. >Perhaps it's the workload, she has been under a lot of stress with her new fashion line.
  17. >Rarity looks at the pancakes for several more minutes.
  18. >Each minute more painful than the last.
  19.
  20. >It's so simple right?
  21. >Rarity keeps staring, knowing instinctively she has to do something here.
  22. >What is it though she wonders.
  23. >Eating the pancakes doesn't seem right.
  24. >Sticking the fork into their surface seems as wrong to her as sticking her fork into a cat.
  25. >And she would never do something like that to her own cat.
  26. >Her headache has instensifed so much that she pushes herself away from the table and walks away from her plate.
  27. >She feels the growl of her stomach.
  28. >Someone as busy as her doesn't get many chances to eat, this may be the only time..
  29. >And yet..
  30. >No, perhaps, another time.
  31. >She wraps up the pancakes putting them in the fridge for later.
  32. >It's not the first time she's gone to work on an empty stomach.
  33. >Surely she can do it again.
  34.
  35.
  36. >Rarity focuses on her designs.
  37. >The calm quiet of the room leaves her little else to focus on but her work.
  38. >What was it that stopped her from eating?
  39. >It's not like she's never eaten pancakes before.
  40. >Rarity rather quite likes them.
  41. >But why..
  42. >She stares in the reflection as sun breaks through the clouds.
  43. >She sees the slight bags in her eyes.
  44. >Staying up late has thrown off her schedule.
  45. >She must meet deadlines, she must keep designing new clothes.
  46. >But inspiration is not always easy.
  47. >The work is tedious, even using the machine.
  48. >Her eyes won't let her slip up.
  49. >They can see everything, every slight flaw.
  50. >And of course, quality is expected of her work.
  51. >One bad review, one missed stitch could lead to ruin.
  52. >She must stay focused.
  53.
  54.
  55. >Night comes, her younger sister came and said hi briefly earlier while Rarity was still at work.
  56. >But she's done now, and the younger sister is asleep.
  57. >The weariness of the day has numbed her senses.
  58. >Rarity comes to the kitchen in the night lighting the dark boutique with her horn.
  59. >Saving electricity will cut costs down.
  60. >A savvy business woman knows how important it is to save money.
  61. >She feels the hunger grip her stomach.
  62. >She opens the fridge.
  63. >Nothing has been previously made.
  64. >Nothing can be consumed in it's raw form.
  65. >Sitting, on the top shelf in the middle, the pancakes, wrapped in plastic wrap.
  66. >Rarity feels a sense of uneasyness seeing them again.
  67. >She grabs the plate taking it and shutting the fridge.
  68. >Darkness surrounds her breifly before she relights the area with her horn.
  69. >She floats some untensils hastily from a drawer before sitting down at the table.
  70. >She looks at them again.
  71. >But something feels very wrong here.
  72. >Goosebumps run along Rarities skin.
  73. >Her instincts are telling her to put them away.
  74. >That she shouldn't eat them.
  75. >And yet the hunger grips her.
  76. >The dark room so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
  77. >In darkness she stares at the pancakes.
  78. >The pancakes themselves seem to have an odious quality to them.
  79. >Generally unpleasant to be around, and certainly not something she'd want to eat.
  80. >Rarity sighs as she floats the pancakes back into the fridge.
  81. >As she closes the fridge door she immediately feels a wave of relief wash over her.
  82.
  83.
  84. >Rarity lies awake in bed.
  85. >The pancakes are still in her home.
  86. >Still there in the fridge, to haunt her when she pulls the door open again.
  87. >So vexing..
  88. >She felt no uneasyness holding the eggs or flour or any of the other ingredients.
  89. >But as soon as they were complete, that's when it began.
  90. >Theres no reason she should feel this way..
  91. >After all, they're just ordinary pancakes.
  92. >Pancakes are totally harmless.
  93. >So why..
  94.
  95. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH-AU9ykCbY
  96. >It's dark all around her.
  97. >A big black empty room
  98. >Suddenly, from the abyss,
  99. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vUq4sn1HwI
  100. "W-what was that?!"
  101. >Rarity walks around in the cold black room.
  102. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrqcElEhC_s
  103. "W-whos there!?"
  104. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coUbPqF9Sk0
  105. >Why, why are these sounds..
  106. >It's all, so familiar..
  107. >Suddenly she walks into a small plate of them.
  108. >Her head throbs as syrup from the darkness is being drenched over their surface.
  109. >Raritys breathing intensifies as something about them is making her very uncomfortable.
  110. "Go away, I don't want to eat you!"
  111. >Rarity runs away into the darkness.
  112. >She turns back, and the pancakes are still right behind her.
  113. >She runs faster, faster, speeding as fast as she can through the dark room.
  114. >She looks back again however, and the pancakes are still there as if she hadn't moved at all.
  115. >Still right there, she can't get away no matter how fast she runs.
  116. "Stop, stop please, go away!"
  117. >Pancakes, mere feet away from her.
  118. >Rarity scrambling, backing away, but she can't seem to get any farther from them.
  119. ?She screams.
  120.
  121. >Rarity wakes up, covered in sweat, her heart racing.
  122. >She sits up in her bed.
  123. >She takes in a deep breath.
  124. >Rarity goes to the bathroom, relieving herself and washing up.
  125. >Now realizing that perhaps the pancakes are the source of her problem.
  126. >The logical thing to do would be to throw them away right?
  127. >Yes, first thing she gets to the kitchen, she'll just throw the pancakes away and this whole nightmare will be over.
  128.
  129. >Rarity walks down the stairs, smelling the distinct scent of..
  130. >Maple syrup..
  131. >She rushes down the stairs to the kitchen seeing the plate of pancakes on the table.
  132. >The fridge left wide open, all the rest of the food gone.
  133. >Rarity breathes heavily as she turns back to see the pancakes still on the table.
  134. >Her hooves trembling.
  135. >Her sister walks through the door.
  136. >"Oh there you are Rarity, good morning!"
  137. >She walks over to Rarity looking up at her with big doe eyes.
  138. >"Whats the matter Rarity?"
  139. "T-the food, in the fridge.. WHAT HAPPENED TO IT?!"
  140. >She raises her eyebrow at Rarity.
  141. >"Rarity, all the food was expired!"
  142. "W-what do you mean, why then.. The pancakes.."
  143. >"Well, I figured you made them yesterday since I didn't see them there the day before, so I figured I'd leave them in there so you'd have something to eat for breakfast."
  144. "O-oh, S-sweetie.. Isn't that.. Nice.."
  145. >Raritys sister pushes her toward and into the chair.
  146. >"Yeah! So go on, I'm sure you must be starving!"
  147. >Rarity smiles cheesily looking uncomfortably at the platter of pancakes.
  148. >Their presence still wholly unsettling to her.
  149. >"W-well?"
  150. "O-oh, Sweetie, it's just that.."
  151. >"Whats wrong?"
  152. "Nothing! It's just that I'm not hungry is all!"
  153. >She scoots herself away from the table.
  154. >"But you haven't even eaten yet."
  155. "N-now now Sweetie Belle, run along, your sister is very busy with her new fashion line and needs to get to work!"
  156. >She says pushing herself away from the table and excusing herself.
  157. >"You aren't skipping meals again like you used to when we were younger are you?"
  158. >Rarity stops in her tracks.
  159. "What?"
  160. >Sweetie Belle walks closer to Rarity.
  161. >"You used to skip meals all the time, remember when we were younger, and you got upset because the other ponies were calling you fat?"
  162. "B-but you were so young at the time, how could you even remember?"
  163. >"I remember, you used to push your food away, say you weren't hungry. Mom and Dad were really worried too."
  164. "T-this isn't like that!"
  165. >"Are you sure Rarity?"
  166. "Yes, now be a good girl and run along. I must continue my work."
  167. >Sweetie Belle frowns.
  168. >"If you say so."
  169.
  170.
  171. >The pancakes were put back in the fridge..
  172. >The second day with no food.
  173. >Her stomach claws at her with pain.
  174. >She wants to get something to eat but all there is, is those pancakes.
  175. >Pay isn't for another day, and the money is tight.
  176. >Rarity did skip meals sometimes, but it was for the best.
  177. >It was good that she chose to lose the weight.
  178. >But this has nothing to do with weightloss.
  179. >It's not as if she doesn't enjoy pancakes..
  180. >So why can't she just sit down and eat them?
  181. ----
  182. >Night comes again, and Rarity falls asleep.
  183. >She ate nothing once again.
  184. ---
  185.
  186.
  187. >It's the dark room again, and the pancakes are there.
  188. "Why.. Why won't you leave me alone!?"
  189. >A voice, so gentle and sweet.
  190. >Tender like the words of a kind grandfather.
  191. >"I don't want to hurt you Rarity, I want to be your friend."
  192. "Thats a lie!"
  193. >"I want to nourish you, and help you grow."
  194. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDV6RYwiYnQ
  195. "W-what are those sounds!? Stop, stop it!"
  196. >"I just want to help you grow."
  197. >Rarity loses control of her body as she lunges forward toward the pancakes.
  198. >She begins to devour the pancakes with her bare hooves.
  199. >With her mouth full saying,
  200. "No, stop, don't make me!"
  201. >The taste is delicious, and there are more pancakes.
  202. >Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes..
  203. >So many pancakes!
  204. >But now..
  205. >Raritys body bloats.
  206. >The laughter of the children intensifies.
  207. "Stop it, please! I can't.. I can't stop it! I'm so hungry I can't stop eating!"
  208. >Rarity cries as she consumes the sweet pancakes, the laughter grows louder till it's near deafening.
  209. >A mirror shows the grotesque form of an overstuffed Rarity.
  210. "Oh, look at me, I look simply awful!"
  211. >Rarity blinks, and in an instant, she sees her form in the mirror become pancakes.
  212. >She feels her squishy form.
  213. >Syrup suddenly rains from the empty blackness coating Rarity.
  214. >The cold sticky disgustingness all over her.
  215. >Rarity struggles but she can't move.
  216. >More and more syrup pours on her, until it begins to suffocate.
  217.
  218. >Rarity wakes up covered in sweat.
  219. >She goes to shower and freshen up again.
  220. >She emerges and goes into the kitchen pulling out the pancakes
  221. >She sits at the table with her utensils.
  222. >Staring at them once again.
  223. >"Aren't you hungry Rarity?"
  224. "I'm fine dear. I'm going to get back to work now."
  225. >Rarity gets up putting the pancakes back in the fridge before heading back to work.
  226.
  227. END.
