Script for Lifeless

Scene 001: Homecoming

Sisters Tanya and Hannah arrive at the house, the latter not eager to be with her sister at what she thinks is another party. The camera will follow them as they get to the door.

Hannah
Tanya, why do you have to drag me to these parties?

Tanya
Calm down, Hannah. This isn't a party. This is a get-together!

Hannah
Aren't they the same thing?

Tanya
Hardly! One, way less people, two, no drinking. Yet.

Hannah
Oh, great...

They get to the door, and Tanya unlocks the door to get inside.

As they step inside, the camera pans to follow them as they step inside. A small group of people greets them as they sit at a 'round table' of sorts. Roxanne is disengaged until Hannah sits next to her, Jackson waves, and Sam and Dean hoot and holler.

Lindsey
Welcome home, Tanya and Hannah! Here's your keys back, Hannah.

Lindsey tosses the keys to Hannah, but Roxanne catches them, and passes them to Hannah.

Hannah
Thanks.

Roxanne
No problem, H!

Tanya
Hey! She was supposed to catch them!

Roxanne
And what's wrong with me helping her out?

Tanya
She's not going to rely on your help forever, Shadow Queen!

Roxanne
Thanks; you just showed that I'm the superior one.

Tanya
Why you-

Jackson interjects, slamming his fist into his palm.

Jackson
If anyone's doing the fighting here, it's me! Step off!

Tanya
Sorry... Under her breath bitch.

Roxanne flips Tanya off. Lindsey tries to calm everyone down.

Lindsey
Everyone, slow down! There's a reason I called everyone to meet at Tanya's place.

Sam
We're gonna party?

Lindsey
Kinda.

Dean
What about drinks?

Lindsey
Sam, Dean, patience. We're planning on going camping tonight!

Tanya, Sam, Dean and Jackson are excited for this. Hannah sarcastically says 'woo' in the background.

Lindsey
Now, the only place I know near here we can go is the Valley.

Roxanne
Works for me!

Jackson
Agreed. None of this inner city bullshit.

Sam
Get into another scrap recently?

Jackson
Yeah. Don't wanna talk about it.

Dean
Gotcha.
While Lindsey discusses the plan, Jackson checks out Tanya, who looks back to Jackson, and Jackson looks away, pretending to listen to Lindsey.

Lindsey
Now, we're gonna need a few things, but I think everyone here can grab what they need. We're gonna be going tonight, so I hope you're ready for that.

Everyone agrees.

Lindsey
Great! Let's go!

Scene 002: Drive

More of a scene setter than anything, everyone packs their things and gets in a couple of cars. They follow each other. Note: Use the drone to follow them for a short distance, then stop as the cars disappear down the road.

Scene 003: Arrival

After a long drive, the crew arrives at the place where they plan to set up for the night. Sleeping bags, drinks, coolers and all kinds of things are unpacked and set in a central area. As they are setting up camp, a strange man approaches, non-threateningly. Hannah is the first to notice him.

Hannah
 Uh... h-hello?

Kevin
 Afternoon. What're you all planning?

Lindsey
 We were just going to set up camp here for the night and hang out. You own the land here?

Kevin: No, you're free to camp here, but don't be insufferable litterbugs. And I hope for your guys' sake you don't do anything to piss her off.

Roxanne
 Who, me?

Tanya
 You wish.

Kevin
I'm talking about the restless soul who wanders around here at night.

Sam
Like a ghost?

Kevin
Not quite.

Lindsey
I'm sure it's just a myth.

Kevin
It's anything but. Long ago, a young woman was abandoned in this forest by her friends who were planning on 'camping', much like you guys. No one ever found her until 3 years afterwards, and only after she started culling campers. Ever since, she's sworn to killing all in her path. Hopefully you don't meet this fate.

Jackson
How about I deal with her? he cracks his knuckles

Kevin
You'd only invite more of a challenge for her. She might kill you first since she likes a good challenge. Have a good night.

Kevin then wanders off, never to be seen again.

Tanya
Who the fuck was that guy?

Lindsey
Probably some hermit who wants us off his land.

Hannah
But he said he didn't own it.

Lindsey
Exactly. So we're fine to camp here.

After some time, everyone had gone off to do their own thing. Lindsey and Jackson are talking a couple dozen meters from the camp.

Lindsey
So, Jackson, how did the hearing go?

Jackson
Not good on my end. Six months of fucking parole.

Lindsey
Shitty. It's cool with your parole officer that you're out here?

Jackson
Yeah, he's fine with it.

Lindsey
Good, didn't want you to get in any more shit. I'm sure the last thing you want is another court hearing.

Jackson
Bitch, please. Last thing I need is some punk thinking that I'll fight him for some cheating bitch.

Lindsey is taken by surprise by this last line.

Lindsey
I never heard anything about cheating. I just heard that you and Sabrina dumped each other.

Jackson
Great, now YOU wanna hear about it too?

Lindsey
I-i just wanted to know what was up. I didn't mean to-

Jackson
You know what, fuck this. I'm going back to camp.

Jackson walks away from Lindsey, snapping a tree branch on the way out.

Lindsey
Well, at least his anger management's improved.

Something lurking in the background approaches Lindsey at lightning speed and Lindsey only notices too late.

Scene 004: Liaison

After the near-fight he had with Lindsey, Jackson decides to come back to the camping area, when he spots Tanya wearing seemingly nothing but her bra filing her nails. Caught by surprise, Jackson drops his flashlight.

Jackson
Jesus Christ, Tanya!

Tanya looks to Jackson, but is not put-off... if anything, she seems more turned on.

Tanya
Hey there! What's wrong, cat got your tongue?

Jackson
No, you're just staring me down like a prime steak.

Tanya
I am not! If anything, you were eyeing me first.

Jackson is about to counter-argue, but remembers to when they exchanged glances while he was checking her out.

Jackson
Fuck, you're right.

Tanya laughs, then looks to Jackson in an almost predatory way.

Tanya
Well, can't say I blame you, Jackson. I mean, you must think I'm...

She licks her finger, then puts it on her chest, making a steaming sound.

Tanya
pretty hot.

Jackson:
Yeah, definitely.

Tanya giggles, and Jackson goes to the nearby cooler.

Jackson
You want a beer?

Tanya
Sure, why not?

Jackson tosses her a beer, and she catches the beer. They crack it open and they start drinking.

Jackson
So, you believe the old guy about the killer?

Tanya
I think he's full of crock. Probably just getting us to be good little kids and get to bed early or some shit.

Jackson
Yeah, why can't he let us have some fun breaking shit or whatever?

Tanya looks to Jackson, as if she had something else in mind.

Tanya
Hey, speaking of fun; What would you say to a little late-night liaison, huh?

Jackson looks to Tanya with a look similar to 'don't try it' and keeps drinking.

Tanya
Strong, stoic type, eh? I know just how to soften men like you... or at least, make a different part of them rock hard...

Jackson
Not now, Tanya.

Tanya
Get over a recent breakup or something?

Jackson
Worse; I was cheated on, and I had to fight the douche who slept with my now-ex.

Tanya
Oooh, shitty! Hey, I might love sex, but you should know that I'd never sink that low.

Jackson
Forgive my skepticism, but I find that hard to believe.

Tanya looks to Jackson with a raised eyebrow.

Tanya
Really? (sarcastic tone)

Jackson
Do I look like the kinda guy to joke around?

Tanya
No, but you are seriously misinformed. Didn't you remember what Lindsey said to that freak Roxanne? He'd never lie to anyone.

Jackson
Hmph, good point.

It is not long until they finish their beer. Jackson crushes the can in his hand and throws it aside angrily.

Tanya
Holy shit, you are pissed. I can just feel how tense and mad you are.

Jackson
For good reason, as you already know.

Tanya
Well, I know just the thing to help.

Tanya stands up, seductively approaching Jackson. He is powerless to stop her as she kisses him, and they soon fall to the grass.

Jackson
Tanya...

Tanya
Jackson, don't worry about the past. That bitch never loved you for a second. And I'll help you forget all about her.

Tanya undoes her bra, and flings it aside.

Tanya
Like what you see, Jackson?

Jackson can't help but nod, and soon they go at it. Jackson neck kisses Tanya as she feels him up, eventually removing his shirt.

Tanya
Mmm, I have to say you're a real looker, especially with the shirt off.

Jackson nods and cracks a smile.

Jackson
I can say the same thing about you.

Tanya laughs in her throat and alluringly rubs her body and breasts, licking her lips. Jackson starts to remove her pants, but she stops him. She then starts kissing down his body, soon stopping at his belt. She starts to undo it, looking up at Jackson with a look of pure desire. Once she undeoes the belt, she leans to Jackson's ear.

Tanya
(whispers) Are you ready for the night of your life?

Jackson simply nods, and she moans in her throat and starts to go down towards his belt, but before anything explicit can be shown, we cut to the next scene.

Scene 005: First Blood

Roxanne and Hannah are observing the night sky, looking at the stars.

Roxanne
I'm glad we could hang out again, Hannah.

Hannah
Yeah, me too. It's been a long time... too long...

Roxanne
What's up? Tanya bugging you again?

Hannah
No. I'm just worried about the 'spirit'.

Roxanne
Hang on... I know what the old fossil was talking about. They call her 'The River Valley Revenant'. She was abandoned by her peers on a camping trip years ago and some believe she died here due to exposure to the elements.

Hannah
That's so sad...!

Roxanne
Yeah. Ever since she's supposedly been killing anyone she finds here, but what that old guy said about that was hogwash.

Hannah
Did they find the body?

Roxanne
No, unfortunately.

Rustling is heard nearby, and Hannah is the first to react, getting ready to run. Roxanne holds her hand, heading down towards the source of the sound. They see Lindsey, his face covered in blood, and a woman holding something in her hand; Lindsey's tongue. Both girls scream, and the woman looks to them and makes a mock charge, causing Hannah and Roxanne to run. The woman spots something on the ground and approaches the camera.

Scene 006: Afterglow Outshone

Tanya and Jackson are in the afterglow of their liaison, panting and throwing their clothes back on.

Tanya
Damn, you're good! Remind me to come to you next time.

Jackson
Yeah... you too... holy shit...

Tanya
I'm pretty good, eh?

Jackson
Fuck, you're the best!

It is not long before Sam and Dean come back to the camp, clearly stoned out of their minds.

Sam
Yeah, man! Wait, what are you yellin' about, Jackson?

Jackson
Fucking hell, Sam! How much pot did you wallow in?

Dean
Hey, we don't wallow. We smooooooke.

Jackson
Growls whatever, you know what I mean. Have you guys seen Lindsey?

Sam
No, dude. We haven't seen him in a while.

Dean
Bro, she uses female pronouns!

Sam
Shiiiiit, right! I always forget that.

Tanya
If you laid off the special brownies you might be able to hold onto some semblance of a memory.

Sam and Dean look at each other and giggle incessantly, then Sam seems to remember something.

Sam
Yo, where's that goth chick and your sis, Tanya?

Tanya
Probably stargazing or some shit, I dunno.

Jackson
Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I think I'm getting a contact high. I'll go look for the girls and make sure they aren't macking on each other.

Tanya
We were macking on each other just a little while ago, darling.

Jackson
Whatever!

Jackson then leaves, and Sam and Dean sit down and look to Tanya.

Dean
Do you have any munchies?

Tanya
Dean, do you and Sam ever feel full?

Sam
Sure!... For like, 30 seconds.

Tanya
Ugh...

Scene 007: Kill Confirmed

Jackson wanders into the forest, and soon hears panting. He heads towards it and almost gets bowled over by the two girls.

Jackson
Jesus fuck, you guys! What's going on?

Hannah
Lindsey's dead! Lindsey's dead!

Jackson
What!? Where is she?

Roxanne
By the hill! She's missing her tongue!

Jackson
You guys have to be playin'. Show me where-

Hannah and Roxanne then scream as The Revenant goes to strike Jackson, but Jackson swings back, snapping her jaw with one clean blow.

Jackson
Run! I'll handle this bitch!

Hannah and Roxanne nod and run. The Revenant simply looks back at Jackson, not even phased, then forces her jaw back in place with an audible crack.

Jackson
Holy fuck.

Jackson goes for another swing, but The Revenant catches the fist and snaps his wrist, causing him to scream and fall to one knee. She then knees him in the ribs, knocking him down. Jackson gets back up and blocks a swing from The Revenant and tries to throw another blow with his good hand, but she parries this, and head butts Jackson, stunning him. She then pulls a knife, which Jackson recognizes.

Jackson
That's... Roxanne's...

The Revenant grabs Jackson by the throat, then stabs him in the gut, leaving him to die with the knife embedded in his chest. The Revenant then follows where the girls have been running.

Scene 008: Campfire Casualties

While sitting at the campfire, trying her best to put up with Sam and Dean's nonsensical stoner ramblings, she sighs and looks back towards the forest.

Sam
What's the matter?

Tanya
None of your goddamn business.

Dean
Whooooooa, chill! He was just wondering what's gotcha down.

Tanya
I'm just worried about my sister. She's been gone for almost 45 minutes.

Sam
I'm sure she'll turn up.

Tanya
Is that the weed talking?

Sam
Nah, brah. We're seriously sure she'll turn up.

Dean
Yeah! Her and Roxanne.

Tanya
I could do without her, to be honest. Roxanne, I mean.

Sam
Yo, what's your deal with Roxanne?

Tanya
She's a gothic nightmare. I'm surprised she hasn't corrupted my sister yet.

Dean
So you hate her cause she's a goth?

Tanya
Yeah. I just don't want my sister to end up some depressed over-made-up creature of the night.

Sam
Well, then... I'm sure Roxanne's not that bad.

Tanya
I never did trust her, and I never will. You can't change that.

Hannah and Roxanne inevitably turn up. Hannah embraces Tanya, Panicking.

Tanya
Hannah! Hannah, what's going on?

Hannah
Tanya, she's real! The River Valley Revenant's real!

Tanya
The River Vall- Has Roxanne been filling your head with nonsense again?

Roxanne
Hey! I wouldn't do that!

Tanya
Clearly you have! You've scared the shit out of her!

Roxanne
We BOTH saw her! She tore out Lindsey's tongue and Jackson punched her in the head!

Hannah
Oh, God! Why hasn't Jackson come back yet!?

Tanya
Both of you calm down! Jackson will be back any minute now. Hannah, you just need to stop listening to Roxxie's stupid ghost stories.

Roxanne
This one isn't just folklore, you nymphomaniacal harpy!

Tanya
How about you fuck off, you satanist wannabe!?

Roxanne
I swear to God, I'll-

Sam and Dean stand between Tanya and Roxanne, who are about to go at it.

Sam
Mamacitas, calm down!

Dean
Yeah! This is no time to fight!

Hannah
Maybe we should just pack up and go home?

Tanya
You know what, that's the best idea. Let's go find Lindsey and let him know what's going on.

Hannah
Her.

Tanya
Oh, right. My bad.

Roxanne
Maybe if you stopped filling your head with new guys to use as boy toys you might remember something.

Tanya
I don't give a fuck anymore, Roxanne! Let's just pack our shit and get out of here.

Roxanne
For once, we agree.

Roxanne then spots something and screams. Everyone looks over to The Revenant, holding Lindsey's tongue and dragging Jackson's beaten body. Tanya realizes that she is wrong and stands between the Revenant and Hannah.

Tanya
You two head to the truck! I'll be right behind you!

Hannah and Roxanne grab Tanya's hands.

Hannah
No! You're coming with us to the truck!

They both run, Tanya in tow. Sam and Dean freak out and try to follow, but Sam trips. Dean tries to help his friend up, but The Revenant shows up. Dean tries to run away, but somehow the Revenant appears right in front of him. She grabs Dean's head and twists hard, snapping his neck. Sam gets up and starts to run back to the campfire, when The Revenant arrives on the scene. With one powerful kick, she breaks Sam's knee, causing him to collapse in pain. She then throws him into the campfire, immolating him alive as she looks on, a soulless expression on her face.

Scene 009: Escape
Arriving at the truck, all three survivors get inside, and they drive away from the carnage. Drone shot following the truck as it arrives at a different house. The survivors get out, Roxanne extremely frustrated on the phone.

Roxanne
For fuck's sakes, I'm telling you! At least two of our friends are dead in the River Valley! ... what do you mean you don't believe us!? ... Hello? HELLO!? Son of a bitch!

Tanya
Roxanne! ... Thank you for trying, at least. And thank you for helping my sister.

Hannah
Tanya? Are you ok?

Tanya
Yeah, I'm fine. I was just wrong about Shadow Queen over here.

Roxanne
And here I was thinking you didn't care about your sister. Now I feel like a stupid bitch.

Tanya
It doesn't matter. You should head home, I'll console Hannah and see what we can do.

Roxanne
Okay. You know where I live.

Hannah
Yes, we do... we drove you there.

Tanya
More like I drove you there.

Roxanne
Whatever, I need to try calling them again.

Tanya
No worries.

Roxanne leaves the scene. Hannah breaks down in tears, Tanya comforting her.

Hannah
Why!? Why did this have to happen!?

Tanya
I don't know. We need to find out why Roxanne wasn't able to contact the police. I know how you're feeling, but we need to go to the police station.

Hannah
I know... but-

Tanya
No buts. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can get to the bottom of this.

Tanya and Hannah get back into the truck and drive off, and fade to black and credits. While the credits roll, some off-screen dialogue is heard.

Officer
And you are sure that is an accurate account?

Tanya
I'm one hundred percent sure. I saw it, Hannah saw it, and Roxanne saw it.

Officer
And why didn't Roxanne come with you?

Hannah
She said something about trying to call police again. She wasn't able to contact an officer for the entire drive.

Officer
That is indeed strange. I will send some of my boys there and maybe we can investigate what's going on. This has been a cold case for years, and this may be the big break we're looking for.

Tanya
Thank you officer.

Officer
No, thank you. Now we can finally solve the mystery of the River City Revenant.

Scene 010: Performance Review
A mysterious individual awaits the Revenant's arrival, and she stops behind him.

M.I.: You did an excellent job this time. Four brutal fatalities within an hour. What kept you on that Jackson fellow?

The Revenant seems to communicate in an unintelligible language, without moving her lips.

M.I.: Hm. I see. I trust you collected the necessary ingredients?

The Revenant makes a couple of clicking sounds.

M.I.: Excellent; you were always the most reliable one... Oh, it's almost time for your rejuvenation. Enter your chamber, I'll be there shortly.

The Revenant leaves, not speaking a word.

M.I.: She's getting better and better all the time. It won't be long until her abilities are perfected. Then, we can finally take revenge...

He then angrily swings at a picture of the man who warned the teenagers, and follows where The Revenant had left earlier.

Note: All bolded scenes will require careful coordination and more than likely will be filmed slowly in order to minimize risk of injury, then sped up in post in order to make the scene feel realistic.
