  1. >You crack open another can of Hill Mist and take a sip.
  2. >The bubbly, sugary taste brings a small smile to your lips, and you lie back to relax a bit.
  3. >Mare, weekend night on the computer, snacks and drinks, ain't nothing better.
  4. >...Well, except maybe being out with some good friends.
  5. >Or with that special s-somepony...
  6. >>Not that anypony would like you that way.
  7. >-Ah, but nevermind that jazz!
  8. >You got music, you got games, you got stuff to munch and sip on.
  9. >That's all you'll ever need!
  10. >>All you can get.
  11. >Browsing through your large, but admittedly not massive library, you settle on a fine little classic of yours, Hay Fortress 2.
  12. >Hasn't seen the light of day for a while, so why not?
  13. >Not like you have, either.
  14. >>Because you're different.
  15. >You accidentally let a small giggle out.
  16. >>You look terrible when you laugh.
  17. >Eyes moving towards the chips, you grab a few and munch while the game loads up.
  18. >>Are you a pony, or a pig?
  19. >A random shiver crawls down your back, so you shake it off and pop a few things.
  20. >Ahh, that feels good.
  21. >>But the pain will stay forever.
  22. >Looking around the menu, your eagerness to play is slightly gone for some reason.
  23. >Oh well, you got the menu up, you're a little rusty, but you got this.
  24. >You click your way into a server and take another sip while you wait.
  25. >>Wasting a perfectly good weekend, doing what you always do.
  26. >It finally starts up, and you take one last sip while you get into position for some hardcore scrubbing.
  27. >Pick your favorite class, walk a little, and-
  28. "What? Already? Stupid camper."
  29. >Slowly go the same route-
  30. >A heavy sigh leaves you.
  31. >Okay, just go around and-
  32. "Oh whatever, how the hay did you know I was there?"
  33. >You pick a faster class and rush.
  34. >Almost every shot misses.
  35. "This is stupid!"
  36. >Finally, you just decide to go another route, and ignore them all together-
  37. "SERIOUSLY, FOUR PONIES THERE?!"
  38. >Sticking close to your team, you watch as sweet justice is delivered to those four, then continue on your way.
  39.
  40. >You see the objective in sight nearby, and head for it-
  41. "THAT SAME STUPID PONY, REALLY?!"
  42. >>Not even good in what you do all the time.
  43. >The second you spawn in with a different class, the game ends with a loss.
  44. >As the only one who spawned, the other team comes in, kills you, then celebrates on your corpse.
  45. >For a second, you can only stare at your screen.
  46. "Okay, this game is stupid."
  47. >You exit out, then hop on over to something you're a little more used to.
  48. >Good 'ol Motor Leagu-
  49. >A black screen takes over the monitor.
  50. "What?"
  51. >You wait for a second, and text appears.
  52. >With a huff, you lie back.
  53. "Stupid UPDATES!"
  54. >Take an angry sip, and lean closer.
  55. "Can't just update when I'm sleeping, huh? Can't just NOT update! You stupid thing, I liked your old system BETTER!"
  56. >>Now what are you going to do with yourself?
  57. >Relaxing again, your hoof slowly reaches back into the bag.
  58. >You toss it into your mouth, but not after staring at it for a while.
  59. >The cheese it just... doesn't taste the same.
  60. >You roll it up for later, and wash down the chip with soda.
  61. >Meanwhile, the update barely reached one percent.
  62. >You huff again.
  63. >>Your whole life, all in one machine- what now?
  64. >Well, maybe you could draw or something?
  65. >>And spend hours making something terrible?
  66. >Practice does make perfect, though.
  67. >>Not when you have no skill.
  68. >Clicking your tongue, you spin around in your chair a little bit.
  69. >You notice how bright your screen is, the only light in the whole room.
  70. >And since the updating screen is black, it's even darker everywhere else.
  71. >Your eyes drift to a single corner, then quickly move away.
  72. >>Still scared of the dark? Pathetic.
  73. >No, there's nothing in your room, just you!
  74. >Ears swiveling around, the silence around you becomes deafening.
  75. >You reach a hoof over and turn the fan on.
  76. >Also the light.
  77. >Just, you never know.
  78. >Before you, all these empty bottles of cola, plastic plates and cups lying around.
  79. >>Sheesh, how filthy. Nopony normal would ever live like this.
  80.
  81. >Well, you're not normal.
  82. >And that's okay.
  83. >>Not when you're worse than normal.
  84. >>Having no Cutie Mark- you'll never be 'normal'.
  85. >You yawn and pop a few things again, taking another sip and trying to relax.
  86. >>Sitting in this chair, day after day, it's all you do.
  87. >That's not true, you-
  88. >>-What, go to the same place, buy the same thing, and run back, tail between your legs?
  89. >W-well, you don't need anything els-
  90. >>-The same food, the same drinks, the same routine.
  91. >>Days, weeks, months- do you even KNOW what day it is?
  92. >>Nopony cares about you, they don't know you exist- and that's all you do.
  93. >You take another sip, and find yourself staring at the top of the can for a moment.
  94. >>You know how bad these things are for you- but you don't care, do you?
  95. >Of course I d-
  96. >>Pudgy, dirty, tired all the time, of course you don't.
  97. >Well, that's-
  98. >>You don't talk to anypony, why should you take care of yourself, right?
  99. >>But nopony will care either way.
  100. >>They don't see an unwashed mane, a dirty coat.
  101. >>They see a failure, and a failure is all you are.
  102. >No, but there's still time, you're still yo-
  103. >>Young, and wasting all of your best years, festering in this single room that you call home.
  104. >>You had your time to change, and it passed.
  105. >>This is who you are now, and this is probably how you'll die.
  106. "NOT TRUE!"
  107. >Everything seems to go silent for a second.
  108. >Finishing the last of your soda, you hop out and move over to your window.
  109. >You slide it open and gaze out at the night sky, breathing in the fresh, cool night air.
  110. >Though you soon find yourself peering out at the town, all the houses around you.
  111. >Not a single light on.
  112. >>You share a sky with these ponies, walk on the same ground, but what are YOU doing with that?
  113. >Your focus turns back to the moon, and you stare at it, feeling a sort of calmness washing over you.
  114. >>Ignore the thoughts as you like.
  115. >>Tomorrow will be the same thing.
  116.
  117. >>Nopony is going to save you.
  118. >>Staying in your room all the time, what do you expect to happen?
  119. >>Some big, strong colt will just hop in through the door, whisk you away?
  120. >>Even if they did, who would want to stay with YOU?
  121. >>Never been with another pony, never take care of yourself- they wouldn't last long.
  122. >Eyes dropping from the sky towards the street below, you feel another shiver move down your back.
  123. >Your head floods with the same thoughts, over and over.
  124. >Slowly, a familiar feeling builds up.
  125. >The view before you becomes distorted and blurred.
  126. >>Go ahead, cry.
  127. >>You're only crying for yourself.
  128. >>Nopony cares, nopony will care.
  129. >>How could they, you never leave this room.
  130. >>Never make friends, never go out-
  131. "I-I t-tried!"
  132. >>And nopony accepts you.
  133. >>Right from the start, born without a purpose.
  134. >>Problems from the beginning, and even more now.
  135. >>What did you expect?
  136. >The tears finally start to flow, and you try to quiet your sobs.
  137. >>You look stupid when you cry.
  138. >>You sound stupid.
  139. >>Hay, you ARE stupid.
  140. >>You have nothing going for yourself.
  141. >>Terrible looks, terrible personality, intelligence that's average at best, no special talent.
  142. "S-STOP IT!"
  143. >Clamping your hoof around your muzzle, you slam the window shut.
  144. >You walk over and turn the monitor of your computer off, then jump into your bed.
  145. >>A foal in a mare's body.
  146. >>Go ahead, sleep.
  147. >>Nothing will change tomorrow, or ever.
  148. >>This is you, this is your life.
  149. >>This is what you were born to be.
  150. >>Nothing.
  151. >Getting situated under the blankets, you pull one of your pillows close, and hug it tight.
  152. >Another shiver rolls down, all the aches and pains in your body making themselves known while you shift around and try to get comfortable.
  153. >You wipe the tears away, and pull the blanket over yourself.
  154. >>Might as well lose that thought, Floor.
  155. >>You and I both know, it'll never happen.
  156. >>Not until you do it yourself.
  157. >>But you won't, will you?
  158.
  159. >>...Pathetic.
