A little thought: Where are we now? *

As we walk these hallways (carefully dodging the bodies of blown up children) one must wonder... Is this reality? Where are we truly?
Many people in our modern civilization enjoy the feeling of being lost in a digital reality: A world where we control stronger beings; A world where warfare is constant; Simulations; Alternate school lives. It is true that the possibilities of a digital reality is limitless... but what makes them different from where we are now? Why is 'irl' real and the rest of our reality fake?

The misuse of the term 'irl' has always bugged me. As you read these words ask yourself this: if these words are a theory then is it real life? One would normally say yes, theories help solve mysteries in life. Now if these words are an imagining is it real life?

I met someone a long time ago who said "Games are best because we create them." From his words it would seem that games are fake realities because they were created by humanity... So if whatever created our reality also created a game, would that game be real?
What makes non fiction different from fiction? Once someone reads the imagining of the fiction book, it becomes our reality... surely?

I say "our reality" very loosely as each individual has their own version of reality and as such reality should be treated as a mass of individuality. This gives me another question however; surely the only true reality is the one we see ourselves? When we die our reality ceases to exist. Everyone else's continues to progress but to us reality has ended.
In that case do we all live in different imaginings of reality? People lack understanding of each other because we all live in seperate worlds? Worlds that can collide and influence each other... but remain forever seperate.

If we all live in our own world then surely we are all just lonely together...?  Is our subconscious need to fear loneliness what drives us to decide we all have one reality?

All these questions and ideas are why I ask, where are we now? We may speak to people but once we walk away our words will fade. We may hold someone but as soon as we walk away our warmth will fade.
If we are all meant to be alone then why are we brought somewhere we can all interact in as if it were some form of message board connecting realities like households.
'Irl' is a personal term; it is you.
If you think you have a bad personality then you may have a good one in someone else's 'irl' If you are ugly or boring then someone else's reality will show you as beautiful or interesting...
Such a contrast of worlds within one world controlled by the same laws.
A world we call real, where things such as gravity and dimensionality are always the same...
So...
Are we truly in the same world or somewhere else?
Where are we now?
This was just a little thought I had today.
