  1. idea to make food useful that is hopefully not too dumb or requires too much effort or changing shit
  2.
  3. -- All personnel have a "favorite food."
  4. Eating this food gives them twice the heal_amt, and will work even if they've gone below yellow health (which gives the message "your wounds are too severe to heal through nutrition alone").
  5.
  6. ALTERNATIVELY
  7. Each bite instantly metabolizes into a certain amount of Tricord in your bloodstream, in effect giving you a "buff" to any damage you're about to take in the immediate future
  8.
  9. AND ALSO
  10. maybe each bite has a chance of triggering the pathogen suppressant system (in Marquesas upcoming thing)
  11.
  12. <all of the above are, I think and hope, stuff that would be really easy to code.>
  13.
  14. The favorite food could either be random each round or a product of a bunch of variables constant to a certain character-- such as that as long as you maintained the same Unique Enzymes (appearence etc.) you would know your favorite food round to round.
  15.
  16. the food would be something that requires the kitchen. a prepared meal, a botany item that has been fried/caked/wontoned/etc., or a prepared meal that has been fried/caked/wontoned etc.. no snack machine garbage.
  17.
  18. I think the info for this would have to be in your notes. initially I was thinking of making people have to experiment to figure out their favorite food but the math makes that too daunting and no one will bother. conservatively assuming there are 40 entrees + basic grown food... times 5 variants (plain, pizza, cake, fried, wonton)... no one's gonna sit around trying out 200 dishes to find the one that helps them
  19.
  20. Also! The information on crewmember's favorite foods will be available electronically somehow. Perhaps in the medical database? But in a format that would be possible for the Chef/Barman to access as well...
  21.
  22. WHY DO THIS STUPID STUFF:
  23. -- people would probably want to grab at least a pocketful of their favorite food to have some healing item in the event of an emergency.
  24. -- the favorite foods would be prepared stuff, meaning that the chef or barman would have to make it, and botany would be involved too- forcing some interaction with those people, giving their jobs a bit more importance, BUT ALSO
  25. -- an avenue for mischief. cogwerks buffed the syndicate sauce but then again what good is it if you still have to forcefeed crap to people?
  26. ---- chef could start charging exorbant prices for people's favorite foods and people may willingly pay for it if they want an easy heal item.
  27. ---- if you know a target's favorite food, poison it!
  28. ---- paranoid people forcing hapless staff assistants to be food tastes to check for said poison
  29. ---- more people heading to the cafeteria/bar makes it a good place to find targets when you want to cause chaos/run gimmick/etc.
  30. ---- do NOT poison someone's food, and use it as a bribe or method of access. say RD I have this fried slurrypod pie you love, let me into chemistry so I can give it to you please?
  31.
  32. OTHER THOUGHTS
  33. avoids the pitfalls of a food/hunger system while hopefully not being too silly?
  34. ghofdsugh
