  60. The two person unit Oyasumi Hologram, consisting of members Kanamiru and Hachigatsuchan, have finished work on their 3rd album. They're celebrating by holding a release gig at Ebisu Liquid Room on Novemeber 16th.
  61. Ototoy will start selling GLORIOUS HI-REZ FLAC 2 weeks before the CD release. Furthermore, we're reporting on the talk event held on november 10th. The album with the theme of Dance and the upcoming Liquid Room gig set the pace of feelings for the night
  62. With a variety of emotions, the girls are entering the stage of Liquid Room. It will be a one of a kind of night, so please go see them.
  63.
  64. --During the last talk, you said you wanted to make an album like Green Days dookie. Is this album exactly like that?
  65.
  66. Ogawa: No, it's completely different. I originally planned on creating an album like that, but I felt the timing wasn't right. I'm right now making more songs, so the next album might end up feeling like dookie.
  67.
  68. --Do the members have any specific memories of creating the album?
  69.
  70. Hachi: It has been the hardest to record so far. When you compare it to 1st and 2nd, it made you really pull hard. We sang the 2nd albums songs live before even recording them, whereas this time we recorded them before performing them live.
  71. Ogawa also was giving us a lot of instructions with that.
  72.
  73. --Was his vision precise this time?
  74.
  75. Ogawa: Well, last time we had live instrumentation in the album. Live instrumentation can have the rhythm and instrumentation be a bit off, so if the singing is off, it'll all come together nicely.
  76. This time we did everything digitally, so if the vocals weren't there, it'd stand out. We just had to make it work.
  77.
  78. --You had to match the intervals and rhythms?
  79.
  80. Ogawa: Right. Normally you could manipulate the vocals and intervals. But we don't do that. Not this time either.
  81.
  82. Fan: No autotune?
  83.
  84. Ogawa: None. It made me make the girls really sing their hearss out.
  85.
  86. Kana: Ogawa started hearing weirdly during the recording, so even if I adjusted it correctly, he'd make me redo it. That took a lot of time.
  87.
  88. Ogawa: There were just too many takes, after the 6th take, I'd just say ok done and ponder over it then. I thought that in the worst case I could just have autotune do the rest. (laughs)
  89.
  90. Kanamiru: Worst case (haha)
  91.
  92. --The first song is called fairy tale. You said the vocals were very hard for the second album, but were they the same now?
  93.
  94. Kana: Compared to last time, it was a bit different in the difficulty. Your putting all of your heart in it, so you can hear some slips here and there. Listening to the headphones made me hear the mistakes precisely.
  95. It made me want to rerecord the vocals, so that took a lot of time.
  96.
  97. Hachi: Ogawa talks a lot about three-dimensionality of music, but I don't even know what that means. He'd explain that he'd want something "like this" when we were singing. Depending on the song, I'd change the singing style and
  98. challenged the limits of my skills with my singing.
  99.
  100. --Second song is, Mahiru no Dance, is what kind of song?
  101.
  102. Ogawa: It's a re-arrange of one of my solo songs that i performed. I don't really stockpile Oyaholo songs, I make around 30 sings in one sitting. I select the best ones from that pool, but having one song ready was a bit of a relief.
  103.
  104. Hachi: It is one of my favorites from Ogawas work. When I was joining OyaHoro, I did some research on the producer and ended up listening to the song numerous times on Youtube.
  105. It's a really good song, so I wanted to make it really special.
  106.
  107. Kana: I really like this composition, it's got that feeling of now, right? The lyrics also make your head spin, which is cool.
  108.
  109. Ogawa: It's aural drugs. One phrase of Hachi's vocals took over 1 hour to get right.
  110.
  111. Hachi: Yeah! This was a hard one!
  112.
  113. --What exactly was the hard part?
  114.
  115. Ogawa: I wanted it to have this soulful rhythm feel to it, but Hachi didn't connect with that on a feeling level. Kanamiru did have a connection, but Hachi had a hard time. That was a hard one.
  116.
  117. Hachi: We worked on it for about 12 days. I can remember it, I thought and tried to completely imitate Ogawas instructions. Ogawa said he wouldn't surrender to me, so I just swallowed my pride and carried on.
  118.
  119. --3rd song is planet. Do we have any questions from the audience?
  120.
  121. Fan: The song has changed from when you first performed it? You had drums backing the song then.
  122.
  123. Ogawa: It had that samba kick, right. Bass coming in late was said to be bad.
  124.
  125. Hachi: Eh? Hearing it now and I still don't get it.
  126.
  127. Kana: The first version had the rhythm so dragging that it was really hard to sing. Now that the song is more clearer, it's easier to sing.
  128.
  129. Ogawa: I aimed for the South American club music feel with the rhythm, but it was really painful and I gave up. Maybe I'll do that version in the future.
  130.
  131. --By the way, who came up with the harmonies?
  132.
  133. Ogawa: Mainly, I came up with the harmonies after coming up with the basics of the song. The two harmonized. Hachi harmonizes, Kana harmonizes. I finally had those two harmonize together.
  134. Giving them instructions that this might sound good.
  135.
  136. Kana: Ogawa doesn't use a piano to test out his compositions, he goes purely by feel. He was explaining the songs through Do Re Mi
  137.
  138. Ogawa: I want to make the connection between do and re. I can do it in my mind, but it's hard to put it into notations. There's a difference there.
  139.
  140. --4th song is Friday
  141.
  142. Ogawa: I wanted to use a modular synth. 808 State and those kinds of machine drums was something I wanted to use which ended up creating this song.
  143.
  144. --Listening it in high volume makes it a really good dance number
  145.
  146. Kana: I really love the New Order style feel of the intro, the lyrics kick in with the hook. You reall get into it, the intro starts with the cute beeps and when we hit the hook with our loud voice, it gives you that OyaHoro feel.
  147. It's really cool when performed live. However you sing it, it'll come together. That's the feel of this song that i love.
  148.
  149. Hachi: The first part is similar to "Pocket Cowboy", it's really cute.
  150.
  151. --Did this song have any trouble with the vocal recording?
  152.
  153. Kanamiru: This one took a lot of time. I was glossing over how I should sing the hook, should there be a falsetto or my natural voice. As they made it sound different, we recorded it multiple times.
  154. The chorus is the exciting part of the song, so we wanted to do it in our own voice loudly, which ended up taking a lot of time.
  155.
  156. --How about you, Hachi?
  157.
  158. Hachi: Since Kanamiru sang with her own voice, I did the falsetto part. If we sang the same way, Ogawa would say it didn't have the feel he was aiming for. He didn't aim for difference, but if he wanted to make us sing something, he'd convey that by drumming on a table.
  159. With that drumming in mind, I sang the song.
  160.
  161. --The fifth song is claled sister
  162.
  163. Ogawa: This is an interlude, but there is singing in it. I used the girls voices and put them through a vocoder. We didn't have the time to record new stuff, so I reused the recordings for Neuromancer.
  164. I took the acoustic album style lyrics, reversed and sliced the vocals and put them through a sampler, bit flashed them.
  165.
  166. --You chopped and screwed them into a new level
  167.
  168. Ogawa: Right. I destroyed the sound to create new sound. I added their sound to the track that we use as our gig intro. This changed the feeling of the song, so I thought to use it as an interlude.
  169.
  170. --The 6th song is sea song. This really changes the feel of the album.
  171.
  172. Ogawa: It's a sequel to Neuromancer. That song talked about people who couldn't escape the Dystopia, while Sea Song talks about people who escaped and their story.
  173.
  174. --How was the recording for this?
  175.
  176. Kana: I felt like it went well. Hachi was first to record, so when I followed with my lyrics, it felt like I was just adding my fill to a song. Conversely, it felt like Hachi had a harder time.
  177.
  178. Hachi: I was first in this one? I felt it went that I sang, then Kana sang after me, then I went back to the studio to sing. In the end, I needed Kanas voice for the harmonizing, so it made me want to do it once more with feeling.
  179.
  180. --And the final song on the album is empty page. The metronome in the beginning leaves a big impression.
  181.
  182. Kana: Ogawa abruptly just sent me the songs intro. He asked me If i could write the orchestration for it. I played wind instruments, but I once arranged percussions for my school bands songs all by myself.
  183. When I told him I didn't have the software to do that, he told me he'll put his all into it and he came up with this song. It's pretty hard when you put feel into it. I was really surprised it became a song.
  184.
  185. Ogawa: I felt Kana wouldn't feel the song, but she said it was good.
  186.
  187. --Were you surprised when you had to record the vocals, Kanamiru?
  188.
  189. Kana: I was really surprised. I thought we weren't able to make the song fit. The voice just didn't fit. There was no piano, only strings and the pounding drums. I couldn't believe it'd make the album.
  190.
  191. Hachi: Singing this song made me feel god! By the way, what are strings?
  192.
  193. Ogawa: Violin and such (laughs)
  194.
  195. Hachi: Ah, i see! There definitely were people who didn't know! I didn't know either
  196.
  197. --Hahaha.
  198.
  199. Kana: This was the last song we recoded. My ear became picky, so no matter how many times we recorded it, I wasn't sure about the result.
  200.
  201. Hachi: And when it was close to morning, you became oxygen deprived.
  202.
  203. Kana: We were in the studio around 3 a.m. and at the last moments we were just dozing off with Ogawa. In the final take, my natural voice was pretty unsuitable, so we tried recording it with a louder voicee.
  204. If we couldn't succeed with this, I would've just given up, but the final take ended up becoming really good and we used that.
  205.
  206. --You really looked to using all of your will to the recording. Amongst all the hardship you finished it.
  207.
  208. Hachi: It was climbing a mountain.
  209.
  210. --With this album, you're also performing at Ebisu Liquid Room. You performed there as guests of Have a Nice Day last year, but how do you feel performing there alone?
  211.
  212. Hachi: We want to make people dance. I'm also thinking about the stage decorations so those will be special too.
  213.
  214. Ogawa: The gig on the 16th is important, it will decide what kind of feel OyaHoro will have moving on
  215.
  216. --It's a gig that shows the future path of OyaHoro
  217.
  218. Hachi: Exactly! It does have that "Wow this is a huge gig" feel to it.
  219.
  220. Kanamiru: Liquid Room fits 1000 people, so it'll be a big gig. Last year we did emerald with have a nice day, but it didn't make me feel that i want to do it big like this.
  221.
  222. Hachi: But with have a nice day, it was a given right? That it was full. When you entered the stage, it gave you a feel that you wanted to see something larger than that.
  223.
  224. Kana: Yeah, that's right, I guess..
  225.
  226. --The scene you saw 1 year ago has became a guiding light?
  227.
  228. Hachi: That's right, after performing there, we just had to get there by ourselves or we wouldn't be satisfied. I don't know if we're moving tickets in our current level, but if we get some amount of people, it'll be good.
  229. That's a dream I ahve.
  230.
  231. Ogawa: It not being sold out doesn't give you a weird pressure, it's makes you feel grateful for the people who come to see you.
  232.
  233. Kana: It's been 1 year since that gig, but the feel of our gigs and our fanbase has changed. Even then, even if the lives have changed, we as people haven't changed. If it would've continued on like that, we would have been stuck just performing inb LOFT and such.
  234. So making it different was key. This is something that was budding inside me for this past year. There's not really a right or wrong to this. That time our lives were really passionate, but the feel of the people who come to our gigs
  235. has changed. I was stuck on thinking about last years gig, but recently I have started thinking differently.
  236.
  237. --The fans have changed, that says that you've decided to embark on a different path.
  238.
  239. Kana: That's right. The passion of that time has changed, definitely.
  240.
  241. Hachi: But it's vexing! The feel that we have to evolve. Of course possibilities performing with Have a Nice Day and NDG have disappeared, but we carry on with that feel. I feel that the OyaHoro of now needs to conquer Liquid Room.
  242. It's really hard, but..!
  243.
  244. Kana: If you're stuck on stuff like that, I can't really move on
  245.
  246. Hachi: It's not being stuck!
  247.
  248. Kana: I wasn't able to do but those songs during that time and me diving and going crazy became a point of discussion. I wasn't satisfied it being just that. That time we did only emerald, so performing by worrying about stuff like that
  249. makes you feel like it wasn't fun at all. There isn't a gig where you are 100% satisfied. Realizing that, I recently became more happier with the gig we had last year.
  250.
  251. Fans: That's wrong!
  252.
  253. Kanamiru: Fans think that's wrong, but the gig we had 1 year ago was fun and I miss the time when fans would all say the gig was fun. That was the most fun I've had since I came to tokyo.
  254.
  255. Hachi: Why is that?
  256.
  257. Kana: That's how my feels worked. I had a lot of different allies then. Now we have a totally different direction. These past 6 months, my staging has been really lost. The genre of the music changed, so I had a time where I felt I just had to change my singing.
  258. The songs I really worked hard to learn aren't performed that much anymore and I was kinda lost during our gigs. I need to change that if I want to renew my stage self. I need to change my performance.
  259.
  260. --Those kinds of feels, you were able to put them into words only now?
  261.
  262. Kana: That's right. After that Liquid gig, when i entered the period of having to change, the albums concepts would change and I was thinking that should i just scream and so on. The album has songs that aren't just something you can do with passion.
  263. You have to really think about things before each live, and that makes me constantly have gigs where I'm not satisfied with the performance. These last 6 months have been like this, but if I can change my thoughts
  264. for the one man would be good.
  265.
  266. Hachi: It will! I don't really want to use the words "turning point", but we've come this far with different events so we have to go through with this. Whatever might be after that is understand, but really.
  267. I really didn't pay mind to the have anice gig, I feel like if we show something new at this gig, It'll be the best thing about it. I really don't know what I'm good at, we two aren't that knowledgeable about music.
  268. But we wanted to be idols and that's what OyaHoro became. So we're thinking if we'd just start including Ogawa and become a three piece unit. I often voice out my opinions on Oyahoro and Ogawas work.
  269. It would be better to just let the producer take care of things, It'd be easier, but I don't want to do that.
  270.
  271. --Ogawa, do you have any specific feels towards the gig?
  272.
  273. Ogawa: I don't really worry myself like that. Idols and such breaking up after they get buried by others is something i hate. If you think like that, the lives won't be fun right? Buried or not, everyone wants to do the same, those who come and those who don't, won't.
  274. I don't really get worked up by stuff like that.
  275.
  276. Hachi: I know that people who'll come will come and so on, but I don't think we're loved by all or anything, but I want us to be seen by a lot of people.
  277.
  278. Ogawa: That's of course what we're aiming for, it's nothing that you really need to yell out.
  279.
  280. Hachi: It's ok if you just come to dance, but if you got interested in OyaHoro you should just come and have fun. We're waiting for you.
  281.
  282. --Kanamiru, do you have any parting words for us?
  283.
  284. Kana: Thank you very much.
