NEO SPARTAN ADVENTUUUUURES 6

Riku finds out Celio’s been fired for being crap. He goes to ask Sharon why. She starts ignoring him as he plays with his ball (only one) and drinks coffee. Sharon eventually finishes her call, and asks what he wants, only to laugh at the matter. Apparently dismissing him from active duty is her idea of a “time-out”. Apparently his killing of “thousands” was an “acceptable loss”, but he had to learn to do what he does “more effectively”. She then ropes Riku into helping Miranda with DAVID. Despite the fact he, unbeknownst to her, burnt all bridges with her after returning from the hospital.

He eventually decides it WOULD be in his best interests to do so. He finds her asleep over a black box, so Riku screams at her to wake her up. She’s less than enthused to see him. He has to sift through DAVID’s “junk data” for anything valuable. He finds Nerv-02’s ENTIRE Celio folder. Riku tries to go deeper, but needs a password. With Miranda’s program, he tries to crack in, only to cause it to shut down from the unrecognized program.

Eventually, Miranda manages to make it whirr back to life. He manages to crack in this time, discovering that the [REDACTED] forces that Celio was cleared to engage in Sector 89 were the Liberated Nations. He does some quick searching, and discovers the Liberated Nations were a loose coalition of pre-Second Impact nations who did not ratify the UN charter. He tries to work out which countries are in this Sector 89, and discovers it equates to pre-Second Impact Argentina. He also found the destruction of Nevada was authorised by Commander Polanski, using 45 N2 Warheads simultaneously. He calls over Miranda, who believes it may have been a containment measure. As he continues searching, he finds an audio log from a Dr.Lloyd. He doesn’t understand most of what’s being said, but it seems they were trying to contain and research a subject. He seemed to have the idea something wasn’t right. Miranda seems seriously concerned and begins rapidly typing, although DAVID shuts down and locks them both out.

Dr.Long enters in dashing fashion. Touching himself as they fill him in on the details. He seems to get serious at the mention of Dr. Lloyd’s name, though. He reminds Riku of confidentiality, before Riku fills him in on the remaining details. He seems to believe that if he knew the good Dr., the machine is likely deleting itself. As Long leaves, Riku manages to avoid being petty and leave Miranda in a dignified manner. Riku heads to the breakroom, where Ryu is snacking on muffins and Fabian is being awkward. They make some awkward small-talk when GENERAL BASE ALARM. Sharon orders Riku to his command center immediately.

Apparently Berlin is haeving problem. The video feed shows a large, white wedge over Berlin. He plugs comms over to Berlin base. Apparently the EVAs won’t deploy, for whatever reason, with the monster ravaging the place. EVA transports likely wouldn’t arrive for 9 hours. Long eventually decides it’s for the best, as they can that way have EVA-scale cleaners on site. He gets Ryu and Fabian to ready, deliberately not deploying Celio. Fabian tries to ask why, but Riku keeps tight lipped.

It seems the monster is content just smashing the nearest buildings to itself, to clear a path towards Nerv-03, using its hands. Riku, meanwhile, tries to use his command expertise to help improve the utility of the Berlin defensive VTOLs. Meanwhile, a warning goes over the comms, as the large (larger than Fabian’s giant), deep crimson, EVA Unit 5 manages to deploy. Meanwhile, Unit 5 has managed to halt the advance of the Angel. As Ryu and Fabian are still en route, Unit 5 impales the Angel’s core, defeating it.

AT THE EXACT MOMENT that Serf’s proximity sensors go wild. Dorito Angel is reforming on the outskirts of Anchorage. He, after getting Sharon’s permission, starts prepping Celio. Celio is granted permission to avoid going directly to the city surface, instead deploying to the geofront to establish a defensible position with all his weaponry.

Celio has to spend his turn spreading his AT field and neutralise the Angel. While the Angel gets too close for comfort and Riku has his VTOLs dump Bakelite on the monster. Celio holds his ground and DUAL HANDCANNONS the cheese in the face, causing immediate head crit damage. While the cheese finds itself stuck like glue by the Bakelite. Celio again opens up twice, and thanks to Riku’s coaching, manages to hit with both. The first shot hitting with such force the Angel is thrown free of the Bakelite, knocking it prone, as the second shot hits the core.

The beast stands, readying it’s arms, as Celio switches to his sword, charging in, parrying an attack as he does so, and carves into the beast. The angel strikes back, hitting with one of its arms, damaging one of the legs. 3 turns to reinforcements.  The VTOLs throw shrapnel against his AT field, while Celio hacks apart his leg. The angel falls, stunned, while Celio chops at his other leg. Celio manages to barely avoid the first retaliatory strike by the Angel, due to the small size of his body, but the side of his head gets gouged by the follow-up attack.

1 turn to reinforcement. Celio, with much encouragement from Riku, rips apart its other leg with his sword.  At which point, the Angel disintegrates, leaving a shining red orb hanging out the side of Celio’s Eva’s head, as the other pilots arrive. As his EVA goes berserk, Fabian begins neutralising and Celio’s EVA attempts to hack apart Fabian with an all-out attack, completely missing in the process. Ryu, meanwhile, minces Celio’s Eva’s left arm, stunning him and knocking him prone. Fabian builds up a deflective barrier, before carving into Celio’s Right Leg with a Light Prog. Knife.

Ryu slashes his his left leg clean off, knocking Celio unconscious from the pain because RYU’S A FUCKING DICK (hue). Fabian & Ryu pin the beast, before flipping it over as Celio’s plug is ejected exactly 10 dam, smacking his head against the inside of the plug as it crashes. Meanwhile Ryu begins mincing the EVAs face with his Prog. Knife. Sharon meanwhile orders the VTOLs to recover the Entry Plug.

Riku, meanwhile, sabotages what little air of competency he had built up by asking stupid questions. Meanwhile, the Type Blue pattern is still flashing. It seems to be coming from inside the base. Riku then notices the gun in his face. From Long. It seems the Angel had jumped into Riku. And so Long shoots him through the head. Long orders the body cleaned up and brought to his lab. The Type Blue warning dies out.
