  1. Chapter 0.5
  2.
  3. Cast into existentialist debates with his own internal monologue, the clock bearer asks himself yet again the similar question, what is the worth of being a man, of what is his role, perfunctory? Superficial? Rooted in routine, he wayslides into deep malfunction, perhaps his senses are working overtime, perhaps he is senseless
  4.
  5. This ominous pervasive dread of something yet watching him, an unknowable unknown presence, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, yet uncaring, unfeeling
  6.
  7. So where is your lawyer now? Your Jesus?

  9. BOOK EXCERPT
  10.
  11. THE LEXICON OF 21st CENTURY SLANG
  12.
  13. By Kristof Kiewslowski, Professor of Linguistics, University of Zion, Judea.
  14.
  15. (excerpt from page 31)
  16.
  17. No one really knew when the oblique new swears began. Some thought that the old vernacular were getting well worn out by common usage. So, some wag thought up some new ones. Here are the origins of some:-
  18.
  19. “Trogg” – used to express frustration, the sexual act and an insult if used as a noun. The L.U.A. folk-chamber quartet “Trogglodyte” were famous for two things – their hit single “Ride Me, Baby” and their ‘banter’ just before one particular concert, concentrating on the drummer, who had just had carnal knowledge of both the singer/guitarist’s and bass player’s girlfriend, all in one night. Needless to say, it was peppered with all of the 20th Century’s famous vernacular. A soundman apparently taped everything via an amplified mic.

  28. Kuantum leap forward (by Gerry Liner, Biotech Editor)
  29.
  30. Are you bored with holograms?
  31.
  32. Do you find that the last New Wave is fast becoming cumbersome and obsolete?
  33.
  34. Do you hate being around Atons in smelly kinematograph rooms?
  35.
  36. Well, look no further. Welcome to the New Wave of New Wave (NWONW) of the entertainment industry. Get hooked on to Sensor FX, the new sensory device that everybody’s talking about. All you need are a pair of contact lenses with electronic mesh fabric, a couple of receptors-***-ear-plugs, a fibre-mesh bodysuit and a mouthpiece. Hook up all the apparatus to a Kuantum GY148 console and immerse yourself in a new world of possibilities.
  37.
  38. Sensor FX is all the rage. Purist SFX kinematics like “The Sky’s The Limit” and “Underwater Love” put you within the environment itself. You can be dropped 15,000 fathoms below the sea amidst marine life. Or you can be suspended in mid-air in a anti-grav jump. It’s CyberAton coming ALIVE. The ghost of Harold Fender and all the V.R. proponents of the last century would have been damn proud. RRP - LUA$599.99 (software not included) at all good K-Plex stores.

  40. MUSINGS OF A BEMUSED WANDERER
  41.
  42. “It was the turning point of my life, really. You know, those kind of things which never really had any significance when you first encounter. There she was, and there I was. Thought just what the heck…. Hey, she’s awfully pretty. I nearly crashed into her, meaning the physical exertion of my legs as I headed out the door, but she just looked at me. And then, she was in an anti-gravity chute and our eyes sort of locked in this mesmerising fashion. She started playing with her hair and well, I got a hard-on and I sort of thought, well, that’s that, I mean. None of this really makes much sense. Then I went for a long drag of those smokeless nicotine tubes or death-stick and as I walked in, she stood in the doorway and time stopped. That’s when the blues I was feeling went away, I got out of the GIG and it’s a brand new world.”
  43. - Kraym Seen (Extrapolations of Indifference in the 21st Century)
