- Teal is out this coming fall season.
- Red, gold and navy are the colors of the Florida Panthers.
- The Panthers will unveil a different look for South Florida`s sports teams Monday at the Miami Arena when they introduce road and home uniforms with red, gold and navy being the primary colors.
- The Panthers` home uniforms will be white with red, gold and navy trim. The away uniforms will be solid red with white, gold and navy trim. The uniforms will also have a shoulder patch with a palm tree and hockey stick criss- crossed over a backdrop of the sun. Another secondary logo will be a panther springing out from the sun. Florida will be printed over the sun and Panthers on the bottom.
- NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said of the uniform and logo design: "I loved it. Graphically, it looks terrific. It conveys strength. It conveys speed. It conveys aggressiveness."
- Ed O`Hara of Sean Michael Edwards Design Inc., the company which designed the uniform, shoulder patch and logo, said the Panthers` red is more "like a firey orange-red."
- Panthers owner Wayne Huizenga had a choice of two color concepts, according to O`Hara.
- "One was like a Charlotte Hornets-type color; a teal, purple and gold combination," O`Hara said. "I thought he would go with that, but at five of 12 Wayne called and said to go with the red, gold and navy. I don`t think they (the Panthers) wanted to go with the teal. I don`t think they wanted another tropical color."
- Sean Michael Edwards Design Inc. designed new uniforms for the Seattle Mariners and California Angels this year, the World Series logo and next year`s Denver Nuggets uniforms.
- The unveiling of the Panthers` uniforms will take place at 5 p.m. Monday, at the Miami Arena. The public is invited, and doors on the west side of the arena will open at 4:30 p.m. Bettman will be at the arena for the unveiling.
