- whats up deemington
- im thinking of doing an article about CoinSource and CryptoAsian services basically failing users. Both EquinoxCoin and MidasCoin were "vetted" by these services and both turned into massive scams
- The whole "proof-of-developer" being an excuse to run ICOs
- I think the article by CryptoCoinNews was not very good because it basically didn't put enough criticism on CoinSource for failing to vet the systems and developers
- deemington
- hey man
- ye it's a tough one really
- I guess cryptoasian would say he doesn't guarantee anything
- tokyolinux
- right
- coinsource seems to give out these PODs much faster and with less scrutiny than cryptoasian
- im very skeptical of their impartiality
- deemington
- ye
- I saw a new one the other day
- ill try find it
- deemington
- https://www.cryptocertify.com/
- tokyolinux
- thx
- tokyolinux
- good to see competition in these resources
- but they should give an extra star for pure blockchains - no ICO and no premine
- deemington
- Ye, I think the whole thing is pretty flawed though
- tokyolinux
- i agree
- deemington
- if a developer acts all mysterious then its just obvious
- tokyolinux
- no doubt
- deemington
- Imagine a company launching and people asking if they have verified they are actual developers
- just shows how fucked up crypto is
- tokyolinux
- it's just like a basic rule of thumb, any premine or ICO is a centrally controlled blockchain
- i agree
- deemington
- A real dev would go on video too
- tokyolinux
- definitely
- but the dev going on video should be the actually dev
- lol
- the coder
- deemington
- ye
- tokyolinux
- the real protocol creators
- deemington
- well not defo
- tokyolinux
- not CEO front-men
- deemington
- if they were willing to take responsibilty if it was a scam then thats fine
- tokyolinux
- there's only one coin that is allowed to have an anonymous dev and thats bitcoin
- everything else is just smoke and mirrors
- deemington
- yes also because a coin has no chance of succeeding if they are not willing to make face to face business meetings etc
- even if it wasn't a scam
- tokyolinux
- i agree
- blackcoin would go a lot further if rat4 was not anonymous
- tokyolinux
- that was the old way of thinking, when everyone thought they had to be like satoshi
- deemington
- yep
- The digibyte dev has the right idea
- tokyolinux
- i agree
- dgb sets a good example
- deemington
- go to conferences and stuff like that to make contacts
- tokyolinux
- along with dogecoin
- deemington
- ye
- tbh the fact that not much really separates any crypto means a lot of the chances of success depends on business
- tokyolinux
- i think you're right about that
- tokyolinux
- however, i would say that protocol specifications are more important than people realize
- and sometimes a bad protocol makes it way harder
- deemington
- ye defo a solid foundation is essential
- myriad is a perfect example
- they have so much stuff going for them, simple miner, merge mining pools etc
- but because no businesses are going for it the value has dropped big time
- tokyolinux
- yeah
- deemington
- imo they have the most solid foundation of any alt but still got nowhere
- tokyolinux
- the mintpal collapse fucked over Myr, Vrc, Sys,
- The problem of crypto in general, is most of the protocols have too many coins and are trying to take over the world
- when most these coins were launched, they looked at Dogecoin
- and thought that was going to work for them
- hundreds of millions or billions of coins
- deemington
- ye
- I dont think the amount of coins matters too much as long as it doesn't drop to 1 sat
- at that point its over
- tokyolinux
- too many coins causes markets to stalemate easily
- it happened to mintcoin and now reddcoin
- i think Potcoin is like the maximum a coin should go
- deemington
- but look at doge
- so many coins worked well for them with tipping etc
- tokyolinux
- Yeah, you can get away with it with a large enough community
- i think doge will die going forward though
- in terms of price
- it will probably end up stalemating in the 10-20 sats rnage
- deemington
- could well do, I think merge mining was a bad decision for the long term
- tokyolinux
- i think what will happen is scrypt miners will continue to rape all of these coins down to nothing
- darkcoin is overtaking litecoin
- deemington
- yep defo
- tokyolinux
- darkcoin is such an awesome coin
- one of the truly successful altcoins
- they are innovating more than almost any other altcoin
- deemington
- ye I think an anon coin will succeed
- I dont think governments will like it which will be a massive stumbling block though
- tokyolinux
- yes
- i think most anon coins will die because there's only need for one
- darkcoin is the only one anyone will invest in due to the developer
- he's transparent
- and he kicks ass
- deemington
- ye
- tokyolinux
- i wish cannabiscoin would die because of his shitty blockchain, but i think it will survive for all the wrong reasons
- everyone knows he's big in the cannabis industry
- deemington
- cannabiscoin will be interesting to watch
- tokyolinux
- it sucks he didn't just use potcoin or cannacoin
- deemington
- at least they're doing something different
- tokyolinux
- instead he had to create his own shitty premined coin
- deemington
- Ye I know
- so many weed coins like that
- grow
- he made his own coin for one shop
- lol
- deemington
- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=852844.0
- tokyolinux
- yay another shitty premine ico
- *crash*
- tokyolinux
- I'm still shocked to read through those threads
- dreams of instant riches
- deemington
- the endless drones who buy in and then defend everything is really bad
- deemington
- what do you know of adam garrity?
- I get the feeling he is pretty dodgey
- tokyolinux
- i think my article will be very comprehensive
- im going to try and locate all of the failed and scam ICOs
- deemington
- longest article ever
- tokyolinux
- Adam Garrity
- He has some type of social disorder
- He's very paranoid
- he exhibits the "they are trying to steal my ideas" disorder
- deemington
- he just doesn't bother with his own coin's ann
- tokyolinux
- He doesn't seem to trust anyone to help him
- He has no team
- That's his #1 problem
- No team and no trust.
- For an ICO, I think his price was very fair
- the protocol was pretty good
- deemington
- you think he really has connections in the industry?
- tokyolinux
- For sure
- deemington
- I can't tell if he is an outright scammer
- tokyolinux
- He produces hash
- He works with growers to make hash and oils
- deemington
- ah ok
- tokyolinux
- Nah he lives and works in CO
- But he's fucking wierd
- like probably into little Asian girls wierd
- deemington
- lol
- tokyolinux
- his twitter account has Japanese characters on it
- deemington
- oh ye
- tokyolinux
- anyways
- deemington
- I would love to know what happened with him and delta
- tokyolinux
- Me too
- I'd like to do an interview about that
- deemington
- he blocked me on twitter even though I never tweeted him
- just because of potcoin connections i guess
- tokyolinux
- I guess so
- I think the 1g = 1 cann was his idea
- deemington
- ahh
- tokyolinux
- I think he's pissed that D9 took over the project entirely
- I don't think the premine helped
- deemington
- ye but he quit before the whole premine thing was made public
- tokyolinux
- I have a feeling D9 might have gone behind his back and changed passwords and got the dev contacts
- deemington
- ahh
- tokyolinux
- I think Adam was the guy getting the protocol changes done and D9 was the one with control of the Github
- deemington
- I see
- ye we need to get him to write his story
- tokyolinux
- This is just what I think from my experiences with both of them
- deemington
- that would be awesome
- tokyolinux
- Well, Adam told me that the premine was just the beginning
- I think he and D9 instamined the network pretty hard the first month
- before the halving occured
- deemington
- I remember going to mine some and there was no compiled wallet available
- tokyolinux
- the protocol changes were bullshit
- yup
- the x11 launch was super gray
- if you go back and look at the ANN threads
- it was a very shady re-launch
- lack of wallets, no time-frame
- deemington
- ye
- tokyolinux
- d9 premined 2% of 420 million
- deemington
- I'm talking about the scrypt days when i say there was no wallet
- tokyolinux
- the scrypt launch was pretty bad
- the x11 launch after that created a blackhole
- of mysterious coins
- deemington
- ye
- tokyolinux
- tbh, i don't know why he didn't just account for them
- that's what was so wierd
- we gave him so many chances to explain it
- we asked him about it over video chats
- deemington
- yer it was a stupid plan in the first place tbh
- tokyolinux
- it just puts the coin in a wierd place
- because on one hand he makes it seem like he's growing 1000 pounds of weed
- on the other hand, he wasn't transparent about the most basic details
- i think he's lying about most of it
- we know he paid off bittrex
- to create volume
- he basically admitted it in one of our video chats
- i didn't record it
- deemington
- ahh
- tokyolinux
- he had a "meeting" with the Bittrex guys - after he was already on Bittrex
- deemington
- Ye the way hes going on at the moment doesn't look good
- tokyolinux
- Well, it looks like a Ponzi scheme in a way
- from an outside perspective
- like hey I'm growing warehouses full of weed for CANN
- im going to give it all away lol
- deemington
- ye
- If I was him and it was all legit I would be giving daily updates
- tokyolinux
- with exact numbers
- like here's how many plants we are growing, here's the lights, here's the nutes
- here's the genetics
- deemington
- ye
- So Bittrex created fake volume?
- tokyolinux
- can't prove it
- but it times well with our video chat
- and those bittrex wallets
- on the premine analysis
- those are internal bittrex wallets
- deemington
- I see
- everything is so fuckin scammy
- tokyolinux
- meaning those wallets belong to bittrex specifically
- not users
- yeah well im not going to fud them
- but we stumbled across these facts
- nothing was a lie
- it was all there for people to see
- and D9 made it worse by denying it
- the whole thing was fucked
- deemington
- yer
- tokyolinux
- in my opinion, what D9 did was a slap in the face of legitimate coins
- like Potcoin, Cannacoin, HempCoin
- but justice is blind
- hehe
- deemington
- ye
- tokyolinux
- like you said, at the end of the day, even scammy coins can survive with business plans
- deemington
- well it will be interesting to see what happens
- tokyolinux
- i think so too
- deemington
- If he does give all that weed to a few dispensaries it might just get enough media attention for the thing to take off
- tokyolinux
- Yeah
- tokyolinux
- I'm sure everyone wants to make some Bitcoin off that pump
- I know I do
- tokyolinux
- the price is back down to where it was the last time we talked about it lol
- deemington
- lol ye
- tokyolinux
- but it's not so certain a buy now
- deemington
- ye so many people buying now will dump for a few % profit it will have to be a crazy pump to get it back above 10k
- tokyolinux
- yup
