- Unconcious Bias:
- -Common Misconceptions: For example, Asian Americans are all good at math or have backgrounds in engineering.
- -Priviledge: Gives certain treatment to individuals based on several factors such as appearance, race, and ethnicity. White people generally get the best treatment especially within companies where whites make up a huge majority.
- Difference in Beliefs:
- -Deference to authority figures: Shows that Asian Americans can't think for themselves
- -Respect for elders: Makes it hard to go against more senior members of the board
- -Restraint: Modesty which makes it hard for one to interact socially. Makes it hard to lead others.
- -Self effacement or making one's actions hidden out of humility or embarrassment. Shows lack of ambition and causes them to not recieve due credit for their work
- Self Imposed:
- -Won't Admit Ambitions: Many won't admit they want and thus never realize that they actually want it.
- -Don't Seek Mentorship: Can't recieve guidance necessary to obtaining and working in certain positions.
