  1. January 30
  2. [22:16] <[GM]Mary> A long, long time ago...
  3. [22:17] * [GM]Mary sets her clock back
  4. [22:17] <[GM]Mary> In a galaxy far, far... no wait, it's right there!
  5. [22:17] * [GM]Mary scrolls the camera to and fro, until it locks on the Milky Way
  6. [22:19] <[GM]Mary> 3085, April 16, 17:31 AST...
  7. [22:22] <[GM]Mary> Another busy day for science team in the labs of Alundra. The techs just fixed the lighting problem that's been plaguing the northern side of the disc just recently, and are celebrating their victory over the space station's strange technology and architecture in the rec room with space pizza and Halo 3.
  8. [22:28] * DrKleine is doing what he usually does: work zealously on new technology for the station.
  9. [22:29] * [kiri]Terry just finished working on new chapter of her novel, "Love actually". With a stretch, she's finished for the day.
  10. [22:29] <[kiri]Terry> yawn~
  11. [22:29] <[Nom]Clio> "--and that, Janet, is why you must always remember to do your laces in a clockwise direction away from the direct glare of the sun."
  12. [22:30] * [Tess]Axel is sitting at a computer station in one of the tech labs, apparently working at some blueprint on the screen. Looking around, she considers taking a walk... still needs to get used to the place.
  13. [22:30] * [Nom]Clio is talking out of a book at Mechanical Janet, who is oddly quiet today. Oh well.
  14. [22:30] * [kiri]Terry decide to go get something to drink from the cafeteria.
  15. [22:30] <[kiri]Terry> da dum didaa~
  16. [22:33] * [Rut]Abiella sits in front of a computer in the lab area, with her face so close to the screen that it almost hurts -your- eyes to see her. She is mumbling rapidly.
  17. [22:33] * [Tess]Axel adds some finishing touches, then stands up and stretches.
  18. [22:34] * [kiri]Terry arrived at the destination. What the hell, armory? Where's the cafeteria again?
  19. [22:34] <[kiri]Terry> Drat.
  20. [22:35] * [Kly]Amy sits down to enjoy a... not so delicious synthetic hot dog in the cafeteria
  21. [22:35] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet nods, and peers down at her own shoes.
  22. [22:35] * [Tess]Axel moves her arms around. They're certainly better, but... she still needs to get used to the new motors. Turning, she heads to the hallway to find something to do.
  23. [22:36] * [kiri]Terry decide to ask someone for direction.
  24. [22:36] <[GM]Mary> Axel: you (quite literally) run into Mike, one of Alundra's junior technicians. Normally identified by their dark red jump suits, she's currently wearing a green tanktop and is messing with a lighter and can of beans for some reason. She raises and eyebrow and turns to you.
  25. [22:36] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> But Miss Clio, my shoes buckle.
  26. [22:37] <[kiri]Terry> Uh, hey! got a sec?
  27. [22:37] * [kiri]Terry waves at Axel.
  28. [22:37] <MikeOBrien> Yo, Axe. Can't you see this is my hallway? You're interrupting my cooking, here.
  29. [22:38] <[Nom]Clio> "Be creative. You are a lady now."
  30. [22:38] * [Nom]Clio is perhaps not paying enough attention
  31. [22:39] * MikeOBrien is burning something in a metal can, same used for keeping beans and such. She's got her lighter beneath it and creamy burnt smell comes from within.
  32. [22:39] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet frowns, but nods, and returns to her sweeping.
  33. [22:40] * [Tess]Axel is surprised, but reacts after a second.
  34. [22:40] * MikeOBrien ignores Terry along with Axel
  35. [22:40] <[Tess]Axel> My apologies. What's in there?
  36. [22:41] * MikeOBrien smiles, like she's done something creative
  37. [22:42] <MikeOBrien> MRE space cookies! What I did was, I saved up all those creamer packets that come in those shitty instant coffee boxes, and mixed it with some water and sugar.
  38. [22:42] * MikeOBrien shows Axel her cookie, which is looking like a mud pie
  39. [22:42] <[kiri]Terry> well, you know where's the cafeteria? I'm kinda lost here.
  40. [22:43] <MikeOBrien> Ah, fuck, new kid.
  41. [22:43] * MikeOBrien turns to Terry
  42. [22:44] * [Nom]Clio flips a page, and makes a note with a pencil
  43. [22:45] <[Nom]Clio> "Hmm. Janet, what do you know about Sumeria?"
  44. [22:45] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet finishes sweeping, and stands by, ready to assist.
  45. [22:45] <[Tess]Axel> This is... armories. Wrong side of the station. Loop around, either side, main hall. Want me to guide you there?
  46. [22:46] <[kiri]Terry> Well if you could that'd be real nice.
  47. [22:46] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet puts a finger to her lips in a pre-designed semblance of thought.
  48. [22:46] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Very little, Miss.
  49. [22:46] * [Tess]Axel nods.
  50. [22:46] <[Tess]Axel> Of course. As for the cookies, why apply heat?
  51. [22:47] * [Tess]Axel turns to leave but swivels her head to address Mike again.
  52. [22:47] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> An ancient civilization, and they used an alphabet made of arrows.
  53. [22:47] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Not much more, I'm afraid.
  54. [22:47] <[Nom]Clio> "Fair enough, I suppose."
  55. [22:47] <MikeOBrien> So it'll bake and shit. Can't eat cream and sugar by itself, what do you think I am, a barbarian?
  56. [22:47] * [Nom]Clio shuts the book
  57. [22:48] <[Nom]Clio> "Let's go see Elias about it. He always has something educational."
  58. [22:48] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Very good, Miss.
  59. [22:48] * MikeOBrien picks out the crusty mush with one hand and inhales it.
  60. [22:49] * [Nom]Clio takes her parasol. And puts on her shawl. And her hat. Even though they're indoors
  61. [22:49] * [kiri]Terry make a puzzled face. That? a cookie? well I'll be damned.
  62. [22:49] * MikeOBrien smacks it around her mouth a bit, which quickly turns sour. She flicks the bits of "cookie" in a random direction and starts to leave.
  63. [22:50] <[kiri]Terry> Hey you! Keep the place clean, woudja?
  64. [22:50] * [kiri]Terry picks up the remnant of "cookie".
  65. [22:50] <[Tess]Axel> Mike. Got time later? Working on a new aerial engine and could use a second opinion.
  66. [22:51] <MikeOBrien> hm?
  67. [22:51] <[Tess]Axel> Ion propulsion. Engines are not my specialty.
  68. [22:52] <[Nom]Clio> "Get dressed, Janet. We're going to pay the Timeline a visit."
  69. [22:52] <MikeOBrien> Yeah, sure thing. Uh, we're gonna be fucking with the gravity filtration system all fucking night, so you might wanna button down your shit later. Just give me a holler and I'll make some time. Catch you later, alright?
  70. [22:53] * MikeOBrien takes off, trying to slurp down the remainder of the cookie like a milkshake
  71. [22:54] * [Tess]Axel watches Mike go, turning to Terry once she's gone.
  72. [22:54] <[Tess]Axel> So you're new here? Name?
  73. [22:55] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> I am sufficiently dressed already, Miss Clio. It is because I am that I may attend to you. Were I to wear more, I would become hampered and unable to perform my duties to their utmost.
  74. [22:56] <[kiri]Terry> Oh. Terry Browton. Operative.
  75. [22:56] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> I do not mean to argue unnecessarily, but in this case, I have little option.
  76. [22:56] <[kiri]Terry> *Terry
  77. [22:58] <[Nom]Clio> "Hmm. Take a memo, Janet. Reminder: Buy a hat next time in 1928."
  78. [22:58] * [Tess]Axel extends her right arm, which is unsettling given both her arms are completely mechanical up to just beneath the shoulder.
  79. [22:59] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet nods slightly.
  80. [22:59] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Noted and saved, Miss.
  81. [22:59] <[kiri]Terry> Oh. A robot?
  82. [22:59] <[Nom]Clio> "Thank you, Janet. Off we go, then."
  83. [23:00] <[Tess]Axel> Bio... biomechanoid. Cyborg. Kersantti Tohtori Axel Maria Riika Eckert, Sergeant Doctor Axel Eckert. No need to shake if it makes you uncomfortable.
  84. [23:00] <[kiri]Terry> I'm not that racist. Robots are alright. Nicetameetcha.
  85. [23:01] <[kiri]Terry> your rank does sound confusing, though!
  86. [23:03] <[Tess]Axel> Finnish Self-Defense forces. Engineers and special troops. Nice to meet you too, but don't get confused. These are prosthetics.
  87. [23:03] * [Tess]Axel taps one of her arms with the other.
  88. [23:03] * [Nom]Clio knocks on the sliding door of the timeline
  89. [23:04] <[Tess]Axel> Several other modifications, but still inherently human.
  90. [23:04] <[kiri]Terry> Finnish, eh? Canadian here.
  91. [23:04] <[Nom]Clio> "Elias?"
  92. [23:04] * Elias does not respond.
  93. [23:04] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet falls in step behind Clio, following her to the door of the room housing the Timeline.
  94. [23:04] * [Nom]Clio raps again, for posterity
  95. [23:04] <[Nom]Clio> "Elias? It's me."
  96. [23:04] <[kiri]Terry> Ah whatever. I don't care much about appearance. I even have a scar running across my face.
  97. [23:05] * [kiri]Terry have that long scar slashing across one of her eyes. It's blinded.
  98. [23:05] * [GM]LindaLane takes a seat next to Amy, with a smile and a much better looking meal of fruits and vegatables.
  99. [23:05] * [Nom]Clio takes out a pocket watch and starts counting
  100. [23:05] <[kiri]Terry> so hey. let's just go to cafeteria. I'll treat you something.
  101. [23:05] <Elias> [There is no response.]
  102. [23:06] <[Nom]Clio> "Elias, I'm coming in."
  103. [23:06] <[Tess]Axel> Perhaps you should have seen me when I lost my original arms. Very well, let's go.
  104. [23:06] * [Nom]Clio counts out a few more seconds, then releases the door.
  105. [23:06] * [Tess]Axel decides to take the right for no real reason, walking at a leisurely pace.
  106. [23:07] * [Kly]Amy looks, smiles a little, and goes back to eating
  107. [23:07] * [kiri]Terry just kind of following Axel around.
  108. [23:07] <[GM]LindaLane> Good evening. Haven't seen you around here, before. Are you another traveler?
  109. [23:08] <[Tess]Axel> So, Terry. When are you from?
  110. [23:08] <[Nom]Clio> "Wipe your shoes before you enter, Janet."
  111. [23:08] * [Nom]Clio does seem to know, or care, that the station does not really have mud and probably no rug.
  112. [23:08] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet dutifully does so.
  113. [23:09] * [Kly]Amy frowns a little
  114. [23:09] <[Kly]Amy> ... I guess. Is that what you call them? I'm still trying to figure all of this out.
  115. [23:10] <[Nom]Clio> "Good evening, Elias. How are you?"
  116. [23:11] <[kiri]Terry> Nineteen-Ninety four. you?
  117. [23:11] <[GM]LindaLane> Ah, I'm sorry, it's vernacular. The coined term would be "Chrononaut".
  118. [23:12] <[Tess]Axel> Twenty-one forty-eight.
  119. [23:13] <[kiri]Terry> Well duh. You are a half-robot. I should have known.
  120. [23:13] <Elias> [Clio, Janet: you enter a a large(almost as big as the medical ward), dark room with massive supercomputers lining the walls. In the middle sits Elias on the floor by a pile of blankets and pillows one of the science team member's left. He's staring at a laptop screen, the information within looking like some sort of incomprehensible programming code.]
  121. [23:14] <[Tess]Axel> Individual cybernetics are not so new. If I recall... You were only a few years away from the first through implantation. Here we are.
  122. [23:14] <[Kly]Amy> That sounds a little cooler, but... it's still really confusing.
  123. [23:14] <[kiri]Terry> Thanks a bunch. The door looks all the same.
  124. [23:15] <[Tess]Axel> Let's go in. Could use something to eat myself.
  125. [23:15] * [Tess]Axel opens the door, walking in and taking a look around.
  126. [23:15] <[Kly]Amy> The food isn't very good, either.
  127. [23:16] * [kiri]Terry just get something to drink. She's not hungry.
  128. [23:16] <[kiri]Terry> A cola's fine for you?
  129. [23:16] <[GM]LindaLane> Hahaha, don't worry, I'm sure the senior members will show you the ropes. As for the food, I suppose you'll just have to get creative... or perhaps request work in hydroponics. Want some of my salad?
  130. [23:17] * [GM]LindaLane splits half of her plastic box of leafy greens with her fork and looks to Amy.
  131. [23:18] <[Tess]Axel> Yes, fine.
  132. [23:19] <[Nom]Clio> "Have you been eating, Elias? The Doctor said you shouldn't be skipping on your meals, and it's almost dinner time."
  133. [23:19] * [Nom]Clio hangs up her hat and shawl. God knows where, because it's doubtful there are coat racks just laying around.
  134. [23:20] * [Tess]Axel walks around, finally getting some nondescript sandwich and chewing on it. Regarding the other two... someone else?
  135. [23:21] * [Kly]Amy looks at the salad a little bit before speaking
  136. [23:21] <[Kly]Amy> Do you have more dressing? Or bacon bits?
  137. [23:21] * Elias doesn't look up, just continues scrolling through the mess of symbols. He used to be a pretty cute boy when he was still very young, but since puberty made its way he's grown an uncouthly stubble, and his long, black hair falls in a mess behind him nearly to the floor.
  138. [23:23] <[Nom]Clio> "And it is much too dark in here. I am turning on the light, Elias."
  139. [23:25] <Elias> [There actually isn't a regular light within Timeline, just a few battery-powered lights left for the non-nocturnal types that occasionally visit.]
  140. [23:25] <[GM]LindaLane> Ah, those are the most fattening things in a salad, you know. But I suppose we could find you some, if you're fine with the dressing Caryle cooked up and artificial bacon.
  141. [23:26] * [kiri]Terry find somewhere to sit with two cup of cola in hands.
  142. [23:27] <[Tess]Axel> Terry, just a second.
  143. [23:27] * [Tess]Axel walks over to the other two occupants in the cafeteria, looking curious.
  144. [23:27] * [GM]LindaLane calls for someone in the cafeteria to retrieve said items from the kitchen, then parts with a portion of her food.
  145. [23:28] <[GM]LindaLane> Ah, good evening, Axel. And you're Ms. Browton, I assume?
  146. [23:28] <[Kly]Amy> Thanks, um... oh. I'm Amy.
  147. [23:28] <[Kly]Amy> Who're you?
  148. [23:29] <[GM]LindaLane> I'm Doctor Linda Lane. Amy, this is Axel Eckhart and Terry Browton. They're your collegues in time traveling.
  149. [23:30] * [Nom]Clio nevertheless tries to brighten up the place as much as possible.
  150. [23:30] * [Kly]Amy looks at the new person and smiles a bit.
  151. [23:30] * [Tess]Axel smirks, extending her hand.
  152. [23:31] <[Nom]Clio> "My word, Elias, you looks positively slovening. And that smell!"
  153. [23:31] * [Nom]Clio waves her 'kerchief around
  154. [23:32] <[Kly]Amy> You're one of those cyborgs, aren't you?
  155. [23:32] * Elias doesn't seem offended nor alerted. Actually, he doesn't seem anything...
  156. [23:32] * [Kly]Amy extends her hand, and gives a weak handshake
  157. [23:32] <[Kly]Amy> We read about you in school.
  158. [23:33] <[Kly]Amy> Well, not you you, but... you know.
  159. [23:33] <[Nom]Clio> "I shall take you to the barber when you are done here. You are still young, boy. Think of your image."
  160. [23:33] <[kiri]Terry> Nicetameetcha.
  161. [23:34] <[Tess]Axel> Yes, of course. Some modifications, but the arms are the only complete replacement.
  162. [23:35] <[Nom]Clio> "And then I shall have Janet clean this place -properly-. Heaven knows what the janitors have been doing."
  163. [23:35] * [Nom]Clio is thoroughly scandalised
  164. [23:35] * [Kly]Amy nods.
  165. [23:36] * Elias 's dog, Brian, walks through the door Clio came through and lays down next to Elias. It makes a kind of depressing looking face and gazes up at Clio from the corners of his eyes.
  166. [23:37] <[Nom]Clio> "Ah. Good evening to you as well, Brian. I did not see you there."
  167. [23:37] * [Nom]Clio pauses
  168. [23:37] <[Nom]Clio> "...Elias, when was the last time you washed your dog?"
  169. [23:37] <[Kly]Amy> Hmm... hey, Doctor?
  170. [23:38] <Elias> [Brian seems mildly offended, and raises his head. Elias says nothing.]
  171. [23:38] <[Tess]Axel> Mm?
  172. [23:39] <[GM]LindaLane> Yes, Amy?
  173. [23:39] * [Kly]Amy looks back to Axel
  174. [23:39] <[Kly]Amy> Oh, are you a doctor, too?
  175. [23:40] <[Nom]Clio> "Oh, I will get to you, don't you worry, Brian."
  176. [23:41] <[kiri]Terry> ?
  177. [23:43] * [kiri]Terry just drink her juice and watch there people converse.
  178. [23:43] * [Kly]Amy continues on with her question.
  179. [23:43] <[kiri]Terry> *these
  180. [23:43] <[Kly]Amy> Well, I was wondering... do you know how to get into the station database? It's really weird.
  181. [23:44] <[Nom]Clio> "By the way, Elias, I've been going over my archives, and there seems to be an incongruity."
  182. [23:45] * [Nom]Clio chats offhandedly while eyeing Brian and thinking evil thoughts involving soap.
  183. [23:45] <[GM]LindaLane> Hmm? Have you had your access privileges enabled yet?
  184. [23:46] * Elias idly pets Brian, but seems to be paying attention, in that way that he makes no indication that he is
  185. [23:46] <[Nom]Clio> "An anomoly, even. I think Sumeria has -moved-."
  186. [23:47] <[Nom]Clio> "More than last week, at least."
  187. [23:48] * [Kly]Amy smiles
  188. [23:48] <[Kly]Amy> No, that part was easy. But it's really weird inside.
  189. [23:48] <[Tess]Axel> How so?
  190. [23:49] <[Kly]Amy> Well... I don't know. It's just really weird.
  191. [23:49] <[Kly]Amy> I can't find anything good.
  192. [23:50] <[Tess]Axel> Could be the classification. What've you looked for?
  193. [23:51] <[Kly]Amy> History. This is the future, right?
  194. [23:52] * Elias makes his first gesture of the day: a single nod. A lot of typing on his keyboard follows after it.
  195. [23:52] * [kiri]Terry just drink her juice. They're talking about bla bla bla yadda yadda and it's not interesting at all.
  196. [23:53] <[Nom]Clio> "They've probably just gone and invaded something they shouldn't have, but if you can compile the 20 biggest fluctuations in 3400BC for me, I would be grateful."
  197. [23:53] * Elias doesn't answer. Brian yawns.
  198. [23:54] <[Tess]Axel> As far as we're concerned, yes. Have you tried the Keegan archive?
  199. [23:55] * [GM]LindaLane works on her appetite and allows the computer gurus to discuss the problem.
  200. [23:56] <[Kly]Amy> No, all I found was a bunch of random stuff. There was a cool game, but...
  201. [23:57] <[Kly]Amy> Hmm. Maybe you could show me, after this?
  202. [23:57] * [kiri]Terry scoots closer to Linda.
  203. [23:58] <[kiri]Terry> To tell you the truth I don't get any of those, haha.
  204. [23:58] <[Nom]Clio> "Of course, I could just be that my archives are off, but I've already double checked them twice, so I'd rather blame the history."
  205. [23:58] <[Tess]Axel> Of course.
  206. [23:58] * [Tess]Axel sits down, grabbing one of the cups from Terry and sipping at it.
  207. [23:58] * [Nom]Clio takes out a pair of scissors and contemplates Elias's hair
  208. [23:59] * [Kly]Amy continues to eat
  209. [23:59] <[Kly]Amy> Maybe I should get access privileges, too...
  210. [00:00] * Elias 's typing suddenly stops, and excessive use of backspace is applied.
  211. [00:01] <[Tess]Axel> If you didn't have those, that could be it. Well, we'll take a look at it later.
  212. [00:03] * [Tess]Axel turns to Linda after a moment.
  213. [00:03] <[Tess]Axel> Comes to mind... they got their physicals, Doctor?
  214. [00:03] * [Rut]Abiella stops mumbling, leaning back from her screen. The logout chime plays as she trots down the hall towards Elias's "room".
  215. [00:04] <[GM]LindaLane> ...I don't believe so.
  216. [00:04] * [GM]LindaLane peers up and smiles at Amy. . o ( Now we can get to know each other better! )
  217. [00:04] <[kiri]Terry> well gee.
  218. [00:05] <[Rut]Abiella> ... No answers, only more... need to ask... will have no effect, I'll bet... ho hum~
  219. [00:06] <[Kly]Amy> Nope. I only got here a few days ago.
  220. [00:06] <[GM]LindaLane> Ah, something curious that struck my mind before I came over here, I forgot to ask you of it. Are your bandages okay? They look a little uncomfortable, if they bother you you should come with me and we'll fix that right up in a jiffy.
  221. [00:07] * [Kly]Amy frowns a little at that
  222. [00:07] <[Kly]Amy> No, they're... ok.
  223. [00:07] * [kiri]Terry sighs.
  224. [00:08] <[GM]LindaLane> Hmm? Is something the matter?
  225. [00:08] <[kiri]Terry> I just think... everyone's an expert in some ways.
  226. [00:08] * [GM]LindaLane is concerned in a doctorly-motherly way
  227. [00:08] <[kiri]Terry> And I'm just being normal in a bunch of specialist.
  228. [00:08] <[kiri]Terry> So, haha.
  229. [00:09] * [kiri]Terry sips cola.
  230. [00:09] <[Kly]Amy> Expert?
  231. [00:09] <[kiri]Terry> Too bad I'm not really good with history.
  232. [00:09] * [Kly]Amy tilts her head a little
  233. [00:09] <[kiri]Terry> Or else I'll join the conversation.
  234. [00:09] * [kiri]Terry shrugs.
  235. [00:11] <[Tess]Axel> Me and Linda are not doctors in the same field. Can't talk at a high level about many things.
  236. [00:12] <[GM]LindaLane> Oh, nonsense. Your job is the cornerstone upon which Alundra rests. I'm sure you'll learn some other skills in time.
  237. [00:12] <[kiri]Terry> It's alright, really. Listening have its own share of fun.
  238. [00:13] <[kiri]Terry> Can't really compare novel-writing to fixing hyperdrive mumbo jumbo, see.
  239. [00:14] * [kiri]Terry dry laugh.
  240. [00:14] <[Kly]Amy> Hyperdrive...? They made those?
  241. [00:15] <[kiri]Terry> I don't know I'm just spouting something that sounds hi-tech.
  242. [00:16] <[Kly]Amy> I hope they did.
  243. [00:17] <[Tess]Axel> There's time to learn a trade, if you want.
  244. [00:18] <[GM]LindaLane> OH, we've got a bit of everything. Alundra may be a 30th or 31st century construction, but the people and equipment here are from all over.
  245. [00:18] <[kiri]Terry> Yep. Me and Axl are from two different century.
  246. [00:19] <[Kly]Amy> Really? Which one?
  247. [00:20] <[kiri]Terry> I'm from late nineteenth century, she's mid 21th.
  248. [00:20] * [Rut]Abiella arrives to find the door open. Peculiar. This would imply that Elias had left the room? No, no, Elias is defined by being static, stagnant. The consistency of his identity was his trademark, and yet if the postulation holds water, he had in fact changed. But could he really be called (an) "Elias" if defying determinism so? But certainly his body had changed over, but his mind could scarcely...
  249. [00:20] * [Rut]Abiella ...be considered it's dual at all! And yet his identity had unequivocally remained as Elias. So very Elias-like, he was.
  250. [00:21] * [GM]LindaLane 's watch starts to do all sorts of crazy beeping. She hits the button and starts to stand.
  251. [00:21] <[Tess]Axel> What's happened?
  252. [00:21] <[GM]LindaLane> Ah, duty calls. Excuse me, ladies, but I've got things to attend to. Could one of you finish that for me?
  253. [00:22] <[Kly]Amy> Wow! Really? How could you live before they came up with the--- aww, you have to go?
  254. [00:22] * [GM]LindaLane 's eyes flick to her half-eaten meal.
  255. [00:22] <[Kly]Amy> I, um... I'm full.
  256. [00:22] <[kiri]Terry> I'm on a diet.
  257. [00:23] <[GM]LindaLane> Sorry. We'll catch up some other time, all right? Just come down to the infirmary later on and we'll have a chat.
  258. [00:23] * [kiri]Terry says no.
  259. [00:23] <[kiri]Terry> Wilco.
  260. [00:23] * [Kly]Amy nods
  261. [00:23] * [Rut]Abiella stops to ponder her quandary. Elias had refuse to share his knowledge with her before many times. If Elias, as a concept, had been altered, which was the cause of his leaving, did that mean his static quality had been acted on by an outside force? And surely he could have reentered the room without closing the door, had he left earlier without doing so! Good, good, perhaps she would get...
  262. [00:23] <[Kly]Amy> I found the map already, so I think I can find it.
  263. [00:23] * [Rut]Abiella ...answers after all, then. If he is in the room. So she hopes he is. Abiella enters the dark room in high spirits.
  264. [00:23] * [GM]LindaLane leaves, hoping someone will finish the meal
  265. [00:24] * [Tess]Axel opts to finish the salad. No point just leaving it there.
  266. [00:24] * Elias is in the room.
  267. [00:24] <[Nom]Clio> "Well, just upload them to the usual place when you are done, Elias. And Janet has free time right now; she might bring something down for you later."
  268. [00:25] <[Rut]Abiella> Success!
  269. [00:25] * [Nom]Clio gets ready to leave gain, but not before giving Brian an ominous smile.
  270. [00:26] * Elias 's dog cocks its head at Clio.
  271. [00:27] <[Nom]Clio> "Don't think you've escaped the wash, mutt."
  272. [00:27] * [Nom]Clio puts on her shawl, adjusts her hat, and walks out the door.
  273. [00:27] <Elias> [Brian grunts.]
  274. [00:27] <[kiri]Terry> seeya.
  275. [00:27] * [kiri]Terry waves.
  276. [00:29] * [Rut]Abiella stumbles, nearly bumping into Clio as she exits.
  277. [00:31] * [Kly]Amy waves back
  278. [00:31] <[Rut]Abiella> Wha-- she was here? And physically so?? Ugh... disappointment.
  279. [00:32] <[kiri]Terry> Well, I'll go and do some training.
  280. [00:32] <[kiri]Terry> They say living inspace make you become very weak.
  281. [00:32] <[kiri]Terry> I'm not that muscular, so I gotta put some extra effort here.
  282. [00:33] <[Tess]Axel> Gravity is not quite that weak here. Still, training is a good idea.
  283. [00:34] <[kiri]Terry> I'm going to fitness center. Wanna come?
  284. [00:35] * [Kly]Amy looks to Axel, expectantly
  285. [00:37] <[GM]Mary> Amy, Nao, Abiella, and Axel: The space station's intercom beeps, and you hear your numbers called. It looks like it's time for a mission; first one all week.
  286. [00:37] <[GM]Mary> /Attention, attention. Chrononauts 0021. 0063, 0048, and 0097, please report to the Laboratory 1-A for briefing./
  287. [00:37] <[kiri]Terry> Oh well. Guess I'm alone on this one.
  288. [00:38] <[Rut]Abiella> Wha-- now? Hm...
  289. [00:38] <[Kly]Amy> W-what was that?
  290. [00:38] <[kiri]Terry> Bye, everyone. See you again on mission or something.
  291. [00:38] * [Rut]Abiella looks at Elias.
  292. [00:38] * [kiri]Terry waves, and leave the cafeteria.
  293. [00:38] <[Rut]Abiella> ... Are you still static, Elias?
  294. [00:38] * [Kly]Amy waves again, standing up.
  295. [00:38] <[Kly]Amy> Hmm... I don't know where that is. Do you know, Axel?
  296. [00:38] * [Mode]Nao looks over the results of her work. Bed neat and tidy, no wrinkles in the sheets or even clinging lint. Spare changes of clothes folded and tucked away perfectly in the closet. Swept and cleaned floors, desk, walls, even wiped down the lighting. Sure, the station was a fairly dirt-free place, but everyone generates oils, and everyone sheds the dust they accumulate from elsewhere in time.
  297. [00:38] * [Mode]Nao this room, however, is a sanctuary of perfect cleanliness. It smell thoroughly of fruit scented cleaner and flowers, compliments of some aerosol freshener. A wonderous sight, pity it will be so short lived. Until then, however, she is at peace. Turning on her heels with a hum, she clicks off the light and leaves the room as the station intercom comes on and calls her. Just in time!
  298. [00:38] * [Mode]Nao after all, this isn't even her room she just lovingly cleaned. She wants to be gone before the owner comes back and catches her.
  299. [00:41] * Elias types right along, ignoring Abiella
  300. [00:41] <[Rut]Abiella> Yes? Fair enough.
  301. [00:41] <[Tess]Axel> Yeah, I know. Come, let's go.
  302. [00:42] * [Tess]Axel stands, turning and walking out.
  303. [00:42] * [Kly]Amy nods, and follows
  304. [00:42] * [Rut]Abiella heads for the briefing room.
  305. [00:42] <[Tess]Axel> I'm going to go get my combat arm on the way. Would you rather go ahead?
  306. [00:43] <[Kly]Amy> Hmm... which way is it?
  307. [00:43] * [Mode]Nao makes her way through the corridors to the briefing room at a slow jog, putting enough distance between her and the room to be sue that she won't be fingered by the owner. Ah... though how lovely that would be... she does have such nice fingers... Ah! No! Mission first!
  308. [00:45] <[Tess]Axel> Left all the way down, right all the way down, then both again, center hall. Door on the left.
  309. [00:45] * [Kly]Amy nods.
  310. [00:45] <[Kly]Amy> Ok. I'll see you there
  311. [00:46] * [Kly]Amy continues on to the lab
  312. [00:48] * [Tess]Axel rushes off in the opposite direction, going to the tech lab she usually works in. Flinching when her regular arm is disconnected and the combat one is put in its stead, she hurries to the lab.
  313. [00:50] <[GM]Mary> A few minutes later, everyone arrives at the laboratory. Kleine's writing something down on an ordinary paper clipboard, but quickly turns his attention to the maids.
  314. [00:51] <DrKleine> Ah, greetings. I'll assume everyone' done this before and get right to the point.
  315. [00:52] * [Kly]Amy looks like she's going to say something, but doesn't
  316. [00:52] <DrKleine> We've detected an anomaly during this thread's Cold War-
  317. [00:53] * DrKleine taps a thin, red line on a large screen that covers most of the wall.
  318. [00:53] <[Mode]Nao> Which Cold War was that again?
  319. [00:55] <DrKleine> That would be the Cold war between 1946 A.D. and 1991, in universe thread 0A49...126. Similar to my own, actually.
  320. [00:55] <[Tess]Axel> What's the deviation?
  321. [00:55] <[Mode]Nao> Oh, that one.
  322. [00:56] * [Mode]Nao nods understandingly.
  323. [00:56] <[Rut]Abiella> Hmph. Such a self-serving application of dialectic theory to politics... An ugly period.
  324. [00:56] <DrKleine> Anyway, the Cold War got hot, so to speak. A Russian radar station was bombed, which sent the Russians on high alert. An American spy plane happened to be in the area at the time, and the Russians intercepted it and shot it down.
  325. [00:57] <[Tess]Axel> Diplomatic crisis.
  326. [00:59] <DrKleine> Indeed. The U.S.S.R. picked up its pace in the Arm's Race once again and it all came crashing down from there.
  327. [01:00] <DrKleine> Your mission is to stop that bomb from ever exploding.
  328. [01:04] * DrKleine paces around, talking while pointing to examples and stuff on his clipboard.
  329. [01:06] <DrKleine> The radar station is located along the Soviet border in Siberia, during the year of 1986. We don't know exactly where the bomb is, so you'll have to scout around the base until you find it. You'll be issued an explosive sensor and a bomb disposal kit, though if the operation appears too difficult we'll feed you an expert through IRIS to guide you.
  330. [01:07] <[Tess]Axel> Understood. Engagement protocols?
  331. [01:08] * [Kly]Amy shifts a little. This is all a bit much...
  332. [01:08] <DrKleine> There's about a dozen people in the area, all engineers and technicians for taking care of the station. It's unlikely that they've received adequate training in combat, but they probably have a few frosty AK-47s lying around.
  333. [01:09] <DrKleine> As far as engagement goes, it'll be best if no one ever knew you were there.
  334. [01:10] <DrKleine> Try not to be seen, and try not to hurt anybody either. Killing is strictly prohibited.
  335. [01:15] <[Rut]Abiella> Concealment. The basest form of causal manipulation under direct realism. But I suppose naivet has its uses. Too bad, I was hoping for a field test opportunity.
  336. [01:18] * [Tess]Axel nods. To attack non-lethally... hm. Got to take care what attacks to use.
  337. [01:19] <DrKleine> These men have probably been turning into popsicles ever since they were conscripted, so they're likely bored and inattentive. It shouldn't be too hard to slip by them unnoticed.
  338. [01:20] <[Mode]Nao> I bet they don't even clean either.
  339. [01:20] * [Mode]Nao grimaces slightly.
  340. [01:20] <[Mode]Nao> This is going to be difficult.
  341. [01:22] <DrKleine> Fortunately, we've got a map for you to make things easier. We'll send it over IRIS when you touch down at the point of arrival. Are there any questions?
  342. [01:24] * [Kly]Amy looks around.
  343. [01:26] * [Kly]Amy shakes her head, since no one else seems to have any.
  344. [01:27] <DrKleine> Alright. Suit up, and report to the time chamber in twenty minutes.
  345. [01:31] <[GM]Mary> Twenty minutes later...
  346. [01:36] * [Tess]Axel finishes zipping the thing up. She really wishes she could just find a way to adapt her old suit to the system...
  347. [01:36] * [Rut]Abiella is suited up and in the chamber because she was told to be twenty minutes ago. She is now waiting, as that is all she can do.
  348. [01:37] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet pulls on the glorified super-pantyhose, and then fastens on her shoes. Smoothing down the armored skirt, she runs a diagnotstic on the suits components, making sure everything is functioning correctly. It Simply Wouldn't Do(tm) to have something break down in mid-mission because then you'd be shot and killed and everybody at the funeral would find out that you'd never checked your suit first...
  349. [01:37] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet ...and you'd die of shame.
  350. [01:37] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet That's what Miss Clio said, at least.
  351. [01:39] * [Kly]Amy is waiting. The suit isn't the most comfortable, and she's not sure about this whole bomb thing, but...
  352. [01:39] * DrKleine 's voice echoes over the intercom.
  353. [01:39] <DrKleine> /ahem... Alright, is everyone ready?/
  354. [01:39] <[Mode]Nao> Yes.
  355. [01:39] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet 's results come back all green, and she nods to herself, satisfied.
  356. [01:39] * [Kly]Amy nods
  357. [01:40] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> I am ready, Doctor.
  358. [01:40] <[Tess]Axel> This is Axel. Ready-op.
  359. [01:41] <[Rut]Abiella> Hmm... on the other hand, the alternative model poses a convenient solution to-- What? Oh, yes. Ready.
  360. [01:42] <DrKleine> /Alright then. Initiating starting sequence.../
  361. [01:44] <[GM]Mary> The time chamber, which is kind of shaped like an upright egg, starts to light up. The whirring of machines can be heard all around, and the floor shakes beneath you as surges of power are applied to the time machine.
  362. [01:45] <DrKleine> /...In five, four, three, two.../
  363. [01:46] * [Kly]Amy closes her eyes.
  364. [01:47] * [Mode]Nao tenses slightly in preparation.
  365. [01:47] <[GM]Mary> The area of the time chamber becomes multi-colored for a moment, then it all collides together and creates a blinding white in all directions. Suddenly, three cracks followed by a strong vibration occur, and you find yourself no longer on the space station...
  366. [01:49] * [Mode]Nao lets out a long sigh, followed by a shudder.
  367. [01:49] <[Mode]Nao> I'm not sure if I hate or love that feeling...
  368. [01:49] <[Kly]Amy> I... don't like it.
  369. [01:50] <[Rut]Abiella> Ahhh~
  370. [01:50] * [Rut]Abiella has a blissful expression.
  371. [01:51] <[GM]Mary> ...three more booms later, you reappear in another vasteness of blinding white. The sudden sharp chill reminds you you're now in Siberia.
  372. [01:51] * [Tess]Axel stretches her back, opening her eyes and looking around.
  373. [01:52] <[GM]IRIS> Automatic temperature regulation systems engaged!
  374. [01:52] <[Kly]Amy> I like snow, but this is really c-col...?
  375. [01:52] <[GM]IRIS> Transferring topographic data...
  376. [01:54] <[GM]Mary> You find yourself between three silos: a lucky thing, as it appears that no one is around. The radar station is to the southwest, and some trails are leading north and east.
  377. [01:55] * [Tess]Axel unfolds the blade on her arm. Best to be prepared.
  378. [01:55] <[Rut]Abiella> Well, then, shall we~? A distortion vector won't right itself~
  379. [01:56] * [Kly]Amy is still rather tense, but nods.
  380. [01:56] * [Rut]Abiella starts to skip off, then halts.
  381. [01:57] <[Mode]Nao> We should scout the area first. Do we even know where the bomb is?
  382. [01:57] <[Rut]Abiella> ... well, unless...
  383.
  384. [01:57] <[GM]Mary> Kleine's voice eventually reaches you over the radio.
  385. [01:57] <[GM]IRIS> /ladies...Ladies, can you hear me?/
  386. [01:57] * [Rut]Abiella starts mumbling.
  387. [01:57] <[Mode]Nao> Oh, IRIS?
  388. [01:58] * [Kly]Amy whispers a yes into the air. Best to be quiet.
  389. [01:58] <[GM]IRIS> That would be doctor Kleine, Missus Naow~!
  390. [02:00] <[Tess]Axel> Roger, Doctor, I copy.
  391. [02:00] <[Mode]Nao> Ah.
  392. [02:00] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Yes, doctor.
  393. [02:01] * [Rut]Abiella snaps out of it a clears her throat.
  394. [02:01] <[Rut]Abiella> Yes, and yes.
  395. [02:02] <[GM]Mary> /Get out your bomb-sniffers and switch them on. Its operation is quite simple - the closer you are to an explosive, the faster the light on it flashes. If it's all the way on, then you should be standing right on top of it./
  396. [02:03] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> Much like a Geiger counter, then? A most helpful device.
  397. [02:03] * [Kly]Amy nods, and switches on the device.
  398. [02:03] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet does so as well.
  399. [02:03] <[Kly]Amy> I wish it gave us direction, to...
  400. [02:04] <[Tess]Axel> Wilco.
  401. [02:04] <[GM]Mary> The device doesn't display anything at the moment.
  402. [02:04] <[Kly]Amy> Huh. Is it broken?
  403. [02:04] * [Tess]Axel switches on the device, taking a look around.
  404. [02:04] * [Kly]Amy shakes it a little
  405. [02:04] * [Mode]Nao activates the device as well.
  406. [02:04] <[Tess]Axel> Most of the complex is likely elsewhere.
  407. [02:05] <[Mode]Nao> So, how are we going to go about this?
  408. [02:05] <[GM]IRIS> /Sorry, but that little tool there was just a quick fix-up by one of our engineers. He made those things only about four hours ago. You'll just have to deal with its primitiveness./
  409. [02:06] <[Kly]Amy> Oh, that makes sense. But, maybe we should get closer?
  410. [02:06] <[GM]IRIS> /Hmm... Well, if you were a anti-communistic terrorist, where would you put the bomb?/
  411. [02:07] * [Mode]Nao hums to herself while looking over the map of the facility.
  412. [02:08] <[Tess]Axel> Either somewhere to severely damage or destroy the station or kill as many Reds as possible. Depends on mentality.
  413. [02:08] <[GM]IRIS> /A strange choice, however, this station out in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps he had intelligence on the American spy plane in the area?/
  414. [02:09] <[Mode]Nao> I'd probably put it on the lower level, take out important facilities and personnel, as well as damage the area around and above it. Then again... the radar facilities itself would also be a very appealing target.
  415. [02:10] <[Kly]Amy> Maybe the power station? There's a lot of places.
  416. [02:11] <[Kly]Amy> But... hmm. Maybe we should just go look? We have these things
  417. [02:11] <[GM]IRIS> /Speaking of, try to make this quick. If the spy plane takes pictures of you, it could begin to make the presence of special operatives known in this time period. Maybe they'll just pass us off as aliens or cross-dressing Russians./
  418. [02:11] * [Kly]Amy shakes her detector a bit
  419. [02:11] <[Mode]Nao> We should head around outside the facility, see if we can get a look at what kind of security there is outside at the very least.
  420. [02:12] <[Mode]Nao> We won't get anything done standing here in the cold, at least.
  421. [02:12] * [Kly]Amy nods.
  422. [02:13] * [Mode]Nao heads out of the area towards the edge of the silos to take a look around and try to spot the facility.
  423. [02:13] <[Kly]Amy> I... don't want to lead, though.
  424. [02:13] <[Tess]Axel> Direction questionable... suggest starting west and circling around the building for an available entrance.
  425. [02:15] <[GM]Mary> Nao: The greenhouse is in the way of a visual on the substation, but the station itself is in full view. A large bulb protrudes from the middle where two parts of the station meet, that's the radar dome. There's also a garage and a few entrances from where you can see.
  426. [02:17] <[GM]IRIS> /Your detector should activate when you get within fifty feet, and then increase its pitch as you grow closer. Try to measure your proximity with that in mind./
  427. [02:18] * [Mode]Nao scans the greenhouse for any signs of guards or other personnel.
  428. [02:19] <[Tess]Axel> Detection at fifty feet... suggests the bomb is in the main complex. See anything?
  429. [02:19] <[GM]Mary> Nao: You hear someone singing in the greenhouse.
  430. [02:20] <[Mode]Nao> Greenhouse, looks like, I can se the station itself an- Oh, there's someone in the greenhouse, I think.
  431. [02:21] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet increases the volume on her auditory receptors.
  432. [02:23] <[GM]Mary> Janet: "...baaack in the U-S-S-R~! Ukraine girls really knock me out, leaves the West behind~..."
  433. [02:23] <[Rut]Abiella> Nao, do you see any patrols?
  434. [02:25] <[GM]Mary> From what you can hear, he seems to be on the eastern side of the greenhouse.
  435. [02:26] <[Tess]Axel> Avoid him. Should we bypass the building entirely?
  436. [02:26] * [Kly]Amy nods
  437. [02:26] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> The man in the greenhouse appears to be on the eastern half. He is singing about Soviet women. He is likely busy, but that is speculation.
  438. [02:27] <[Kly]Amy> I don't think the bomb is in there.
  439. [02:27] <[GM]Mary> There doesn't appear to be anyone outside.
  440. [02:27] <[Rut]Abiella> Of course not. It's a greenhouse, silly.
  441. [02:28] <[Mode]Nao> Unless the person planting bombs really hate plants.
  442. [02:29] <[Kly]Amy> So, who's going to go first?
  443. [02:29] <[Kly]Amy> To go around.
  444. [02:30] * [GM]IRIS 's icon begins to snooze in the corner of your eye.
  445. [02:30] <[Tess]Axel> I'm on point. Someone keep an eye out for any others.
  446. [02:31] <[Kly]Amy> I'll try. All this snow is really bright.
  447. [02:31] <[Rut]Abiella> It can't be helped; time waits for no man. Usually. I am right behind you.
  448. [02:34] <[Mode]Nao> I'll keep lookout for anyone else, then.
  449. [02:35] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> I shall bring up the rear.
  450. [02:35] * [Tess]Axel crouches, going past the silos and moving westwards perpendicular to the tire tracks.
  451. [02:36] * [Kly]Amy waits to see what happens, ready to follow behind
  452. [02:36] * [Mode]Nao with a bit of concentration, she manages to gain several 'sights' of multiple directions, using nanomachines as the 'eyes'.
  453. [02:38] * [Rut]Abiella begins punching something into her watch. Better to have the software warmed up, should she need it (or rather, have an excuse to use it.)
  454. [02:40] <[Mode]Nao> We should check for windows or things like that, some way to see inside.
  455. [02:40] <[GM]Mary> You see no one outside, on either side of the parameter.
  456. [02:41] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet just stays on watch, keeping surveillance on the area across the major visual spectrae. Spectrums? Whatever. She is also maintaining auditory surveillance too, as best she can.
  457. [02:42] * [Tess]Axel moves past the tracks, surveying the north face of the building. Making sure to keep from making noise in the snow, she walks up to the wall and crouches against it.
  458. [02:43] <[GM]Mary> Axel: There doesn't appear to be anyone near the door.
  459. [02:44] * [Mode]Nao looks over the windows crusted with frost and ice with a slight frown. No good there. At the very least though, a door would suffice.
  460. [02:45] * [Tess]Axel signals the all clear with her hand, hoping someone recognizes the gesture.
  461. [02:46] * [Rut]Abiella catches up to Axel.
  462. [02:46] * [Kly]Amy stops playing with IRIS for the moment, and makes her way across the snow.
  463. [02:48] <[Rut]Abiella> Use the door, or circle around and look for another entrance?
  464. [02:48] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet deactivates high-surveillance mode, and taps Nao on the shoulder, motioning her to Axel.
  465. [02:48] <[Atai]Mechanical_Janet> It is clear, Miss Mao.
  466. [02:49] <[Mode]Nao> Alright.
  467. [02:50] * [Tess]Axel takes a look inside the building... This access point, weighed against others...
  468. [02:53] * [Tess]Axel reads the markings on the door... Unlikely for people to have an eye on it, but still...
  469. [02:54] * [Tess]Axel gestures behind her for cover, and gently opens the door, walking in as quietly as possible.
  470. [02:55] <[GM]Mary> Suddenly, a shot rings out!
  471. [02:55] * [Tess]Axel ducks, readying her blade. Shit!
  472. [02:56] <[GM]Mary> ...except it's not a gunshot. A moment later, you hear something thunk in a pocket; the people in the next room are playing pool.
  473. [02:56] * [Mode]Nao jumps slightly at the noise.
  474. [02:57] * [Rut]Abiella looks somewhat disappointed. She lowers her hand from her wristwatch.
  475. [02:57] * [Kly]Amy flinches. Was that a gun? She's never even seen one.
  476. [02:58] * [Tess]Axel quietly lets out a sigh, moving forward with her head down. Relieving, but best stay sharp... she signals the all clear again.
  477. [02:59] * [Kly]Amy notices another signal, and asks IRIS to pause her game for the minute while she catches up.
  478. [03:00] <[GM]Mary> You find yourself in a small entrance foyer. It's a little warmer in here, and there's a few coats hung up along the walls. There are also two closets on one side.
  479. [03:00] * [GM]IRIS plays the pause sound from Street Fighter II
  480. [03:03] * [Tess]Axel moves forward and looks through the door, waiting for the rest to get into the room.
  481. [03:05] <[GM]Mary> Axel: peeping through the window, you notice that the room across is a garage, with a large truck and a few snomobiles.
  482. [03:05] * [Mode]Nao sneaks up behind Axel.
  483. [03:06] <[Mode]Nao> I think we should have used another door.
  484. [03:06] <[GM]Mary> Another, less alarming crack rings out from the pool table nearby. Muffled voices can be heard, but you can't make out exactly what they're saying.
  485. [03:06] * [Tess]Axel nods, with a sour look on her face.
  486. [03:09] <[Tess]Axel> Well, can't be helped.
  487. [03:09] <[Rut]Abiella> Indecisiveness can be the undoing of even a wise man. Are you sure you don't want to use this one?
  488. [03:10] * [Tess]Axel gently opens the door, letting it swing open just a little.
  489. [03:10] * [Kly]Amy follows behind, waiting for another signal.
  490. [03:11] <[GM]Mary> Surprisingly, the KGB don't fall from the ceiling and surround you. The voices of the pool players become more audible.
  491. [03:13] * [Tess]Axel almost crawls inside, keeping to the walls and doing her best to stay out of the vantage points the pool players should have. She gestures the rest to stay put for now.
  492. [03:16] <[GM]Mary> Nothing appears out of the ordinary. The garage is empty, and the pool player's vision is mostly obscured.
  493. [03:18] * [Tess]Axel sneaks across the wall, next to the garage doors; she stops on the opposite side of the truck and gestures to keep holding while she looks and listens.
  494. [03:18] <[Rut]Abiella> ... We should move quickly, yes? I'm activating my 'Rubberband T.D. Shroud'.
  495. [03:19] <[Kly]Amy> What's that?
  496. [03:19] <[GM]Mary> Axel: You suddenly become aware of a mechanic on the other side of the truck. He's beneath it, with his legs sticking out, working on the underbelly.
  497. [03:21] <[GM]Mary> "ah, Vasily, could you hand me ze number nine wrench over there?"
  498. [03:21] <[GM]Mary> The mechanic sticks his hand out from under the truck, but still can't see you.
  499. [03:22] * [Tess]Axel gestures again, this time to hold. She darts back to the other side as quietly as she can, thinking as she goes.
  500. [03:22] * [Rut]Abiella presses a button on her watch, prompting an almost inaudible 'whirr'. The function -- installed by Abiella herself -- would generate a minor timespace dilation around her. Her form would appear to freeze, when in truth, she'd be moving. After a few seconds, the effects would "snap back", like a rubber band. Her image would flicker briefly and catch up to her actual position. It only lasted a...
  501. [03:22] * [Rut]Abiella ...few seconds, but was good for jumping from cover to cover.
  502. [03:23] <[GM]Mary> "...Vasily?"
  503. [03:23] * [Mode]Nao watches the situation unfold with slight confusion. Whose idea was it to enter from this door, anyway?
  504. [03:25] * [Rut]Abiella darts to catch up behind the truck, taking note of the man underneath. She looks at Axel and gestures towards the nearby wrench urgently.
  505. [03:26] * [Tess]Axel grabs it, sliding it under the car. Handing it over is completely out of the question, for obvious reasons...
  506. [03:27] <[GM]Mary> "...agh! You prick. You could've just handed it to me, you know?"
  507. [03:28] <[GM]Mary> The mechanic resumes his labor.
  508. [03:29] * [Tess]Axel moves the fingers on her hand, smiling. She turns to Abiella and gestures with her head, as if to ask whether to keep moving.
  509. [03:30] <[GM]Mary> Kleine chimes in once more:
  510. [03:30] <[GM]IRIS> /What's taking so long, ladies? The clock is ticking, and so is the bomb. It should explode a few hours from now, but don't take your chances with it./
  511. [03:31] * [Tess]Axel shrugs, gesturing again. Technically, it means to follow but keep a low profile... they should understand, hopefully.
  512. [03:32] * [Rut]Abiella nods, remaining silent. She takes a few steps forward and sidles up against the wall to hide before peeking through the double doors on the other side of the room.
  513. [03:33] * [Kly]Amy follows suit. These guys seem to know what they're doing.
  514. [03:33] * [Mode]Nao sets off as well, moving quickly. Can't really call it sneaking, with how open the garage is in the first place. Just hopes to make it to the others without being spotted.
  515. [03:34] <[GM]Mary> It's a short passageway leading to the radar dome and the rest of the station. Suddenly, your detector begins to pulse very slowly.
  516. [03:36] * [Rut]Abiella moves across the empty room carefully. Mainly to see if the pulsing was faster when nearer to either of the two exits.
  517. [03:37] * [Tess]Axel follows, keeping quiet. Can't this girl signal anything? She makes the same gesture to follow with a low profile.
  518. [03:39] * [Kly]Amy nods, and follows as well. This is... a really strange experience. Sneaking around like this.
  519. [03:39] <[GM]Mary> Abiella: the device gets warmer as you travel in, but there's no noticeable difference between either door.
  520. [03:42] * [Rut]Abiella frowns and proceeds to the side of the doorway leading to the radar dome (hiding as before). She gestures for Axel and Amy to go the other direction, then peeks through the dome's doorway herself.
  521. [03:43] * [Tess]Axel catches up, checking her own device. Hm... She goes to the other door, peeking through, before checking whether Amy's on her.
  522. [03:44] * [Mode]Nao moves in on Abiella, given that the other two were gestured off in the other direction.
  523. [03:44] * [Kly]Amy nods, making sure to pay more attention now.
  524. [03:44] <[GM]Mary> Abiella: the door leads to another entry way that goes to two more double-doors.
  525. [03:46] <[Rut]Abiella> [Sorry, I thought that second hall counted as part of 15. I'll do the same thing again. Also, is the beeping different?]
  526. [03:46] * [Tess]Axel slowly passes through the doors, veering right so as to keep away from possible vantage points. Not likely they'll find someone in the closets...
  527. [03:47] <[GM]Mary> Abiella: The pulsing increases very slightly than from the previous hallway.
  528. [03:48] * [Mode]Nao looks into the radar room over Abiella.
  529. [03:48] <[Mode]Nao> It's increased. You think it's in here?
  530. [03:49] * [Tess]Axel checks her device again, then surveys the hall. All these corners... this just got a lot harder.
  531. [03:49] <[Rut]Abiella> Mmm... that is probable.
  532. [03:50] * [Rut]Abiella speaks softly into her radio.
  533. [03:50] <[Mode]Nao> If I was going to bomb a radar base, I'd bomb the radar itself.
  534. [03:50] <[Rut]Abiella> Status report. How is the detector's signal on your ends? Any stronger? Wouldn't want to waste our precious time going the wrong way...
  535. [03:51] <[GM]Mary> Axel: There's no one in the hallway, but there's obviously some people in the rooms around you. Your detector also increases its pulses slightly.
  536. [03:53] <[Tess]Axel> We've got an increase, there are more personnel in this wing. What's your status, over?
  537. [03:56] <[GM]Mary> Abiella: the doors to the radar dome are locked. It looks like you'd need a key to get inside.
  538. [03:59] <[Rut]Abiella> Increase in signal strength, but alas, the door is locked. This can likely be remedied...
  539. [04:01] <[Tess]Axel> Roger. Moving forward, notify any developments. Axel out.
  540. [04:02] * [Tess]Axel gestures again to follow closely. She looks around the corner, checking for any movement or presence.
  541. [04:03] <[GM]Mary> None, but there are some people in the two rooms on both sides.
  542. [04:03] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet increases auditory reception so as to be better forewarned of approaching or nearby station staff and their locations.
  543. [04:04] * [Tess]Axel sneaks through the hall in between the restrooms and the com center, turning right the next corner and staying near the emergency exit. Again, she surveys the halls.
  544. [04:04] * [Rut]Abiella uses her watch's 'chronologic-hotscan' to check when the lock was last open, then initiates a quick continuity reversion to place it back in that state. Not complicated~
  545. [04:06] * [Atai]Mechanical_Janet follows closely behind Axel, as signaled.
  546. [04:06] * [Rut]Abiella cracks the door open to peek through.
  547. [04:07] <[GM]Mary> Abiella: It's a radar dome dish with a radar thing. No one's in here, and nothing really looks out of the ordinary.
  548. [04:12] * [GM]Mary Freezes time!
