Fiiru was actually in a relationship with a slightly weirdo prince from a small nation. That prince, Roy, and Crow were all good friends who went to school together.

But because Fiiru had special powers, a certain religious nation wanted her to join them as a saint, and I think some noble from that country wanted her as his wife.

But she refused, and both the guy and the country decided it was better to destroy her than let her run loose (for both practical reasons, and jealousy reasons), and so she suffered various assassination attempts, some only possible if there were high-ranked traitors in Deman.

Thus, Fii was a suspect.

Eventually, that prince suffers an assassination technique as well, and Crow/Roy arrived in time to see him fall into a coma. He asked Roy to look after Fiiru, and thus Roy is doing his utmost to fulfil said promise.

He whole marriage thing is just a cover. Once his friend wakes up, Fiiru is probably going to marry him, and live quietly somewhere incognito.

As for Fii, Fiiru has asked repeatedly (sometimes in tears) to see her, but it was already agreed to leave all the secret politicking and investigations to Roy, so he always made he back down.

As for why he doesn't believe Fiiru about Fii being a good person, it's probably because he knows that Fiiru is soft, and if she had the skills to discern who was good and not good, she would never have almost died to begin with. Also he's a retard, and I hate him.
