Fireworks

>"Hey Marco, guess what I've got in my pocket?" -Janna asked the annoyed looking teen during lunch
>"I haven't the faintest Janna, I guess you'll have to tell me." -Marco replied sarcastically, trying to finish his lunch quickly
>"Aww, not even one guess? I'll give you a hint..." -Janna started as Marco started collecting his things, not really interested
>"Naw, I'm good, see you later Janna" -Marco said while quickly getting to his feet and making a beeline for the exit
>"WAIT, it's a...surprise for later..." -Janna muttered as Marco ran out of earshot
>"Damnit Diaz..." -Janna pouted, wondering if maybe things might work out better if Marco didn't have a clue
>"Yesssss...I'll get you back for this Marco..." -Janna whispered to herself while nearby occupied started questioning Janna's sanity

>Later that evening
>Marco's helping his Dad get the family grill ready for their annual 4th of July cookout while Star and Angie are at the local grocery store buying food
>"Thanks for the help son; I think we're good for now. I'm gonna go catch the rest of the ball game inside before your mom gets back!" -Mr Diaz yells back at Marco while running into the house
>"Your welcome!" -Marco yells at his Dad's back before he disappears
>It's a fairly cool night, so Marco decides to hang out a little longer and enjoy some peace and quiet
>That doesn't last very long
>"What's that smell? Smells like..." -Marco sniffs the air, somewhat concerned
>That's when he sees the smoke from one of the nearby empty lots
>"That looks like trouble..." -Marco says to himself as he grabs the fire extinguisher from near the family grill and makes his way over to the lot
>Before Marco can get to the lot, suddenly fireworks start shooting into the sky!
>Somewhat confused but also captivated by the display, Marco sits down and watches the barrage for a few minutes
>"Like what you see Diaz?" A bush to Marco's side says, making Marco jump into a karate stance
>"It's just me you dork!" -The bush says as Janna emerges, pushing a few leaves out of her beanie
>"Don't sneak up on me like that! I figured you were one of Ludo's goons..." -Marco scolded Janna as he starts to head back home

>"You didn't answer me..." -Janna whispers while following close behind
>"Umm, sure, nice fireworks display Janna...but aren't those illegal here?" -Marco questioned while trying to walk a little quicker
>"I won't tell if you won't Marco..." -Janna says as she gives Marco a surprise hug from behind, stopping the boy in his tracks
>Slightly off put, Marco can't think of anything to say for a few seconds
>"...Janna, what are you doing?" -Marco asks, wondering what brought this on
>"Shut up and enjoy a hug from someone who isn't Star for once." -Janna intones before she gives Marco a quick peck on the cheek
>This shuts Marco up real quick
>After a minute or so, the two part, with Janna giggling and quickly disappearing behind a bush while Marco feels a slight chill
>"Wait...JANNA! THAT'S MY FAVORITE HOODIE" -Marco yells after her, unable to see where she went in the darkness
>"JANNA STRIKES AGAIN" -Janna's voice floats out of the darkness as she makes her escape
>"Dang it..." -Marco sighs, heading back home hoodie-less and slightly annoyed
>"At least I got a hug out of that exchange..." -Marco mutters to himself, blushing slightly at the memory
>"DINNER'S READY MARCO" - Marco's Dad yells nearby
>"I'M COMING" -Marco yells back, making his way home, remembering the fireworks and the strange girl who gave him a show...
