Lateral Thinking Puzzle: The man who couldn't sleep

LATERAL THINKING PUZZLE: THE MAN WHO COULDN'T SLEEP

THE PUZZLE:
A man is lying in bed alone, unable to fall asleep.  After some time, he picks up the phone and makes a call.  A few moments later he hangs up the phone without saying anything and falls asleep shortly afterwards.  What's going on?

THE SOLUTION:

The man is lying in bed at a hotel, trying to get some sleep.  Unfortunately the walls are thin, and the occupant of the room on the other side of the wall is snoring loudly.  Try as he might, the man cannot sleep because of the noise.  Suddenly he comes up with a plan.  He picks up the hotel phone and dials the room next door.  The snoring occupant next-door wakes up, groggily picks up the phone and says "Hello?"  Having stopped his neighbor from snoring, the man hangs up the phone without a word and falls asleep in peace and quiet.
