  1. For the most part this server is free and fun, and players are expected to have a thick skin.
  2. At the same time, thick skin shouldn't be a prerequisite to having fun.
  3. With those sentiments in mind, consider the following:
  4.
  5. ETIQUETTE
  6. -Consider how long you have to play before starting a party (64 games average 60-90 minutes, GC games average 90-120 minutes)
  7. -Make sure everyone knows how to play a minigame before starting it
  8. -Try to uphold a reasonable standard of post quality (coherent sentences, no roleplaying, light on religious and political debate, nothing excessively hateful or sexual, etc.)
  9. -Stay positive, or at least stay mature about your negativity
  10. -Lay off the banter if someone clearly isn't enjoying it
  11. -Ask for staff permission before advertising content unrelated to Mario Party or soliciting for things other than netplay
  12. -Refrain from trying to circumvent the word filter
  13. -Be honest with the server staff concerning matters of moderation
  14. -Speak exclusively in English to give server staff an easier time understanding you
  15. -Don't encourage others to, ask others to help you, or imply that you, commit piracy
  16. -Please help us maintain an active matchmaking scene and keep the playing process simple for all users by holding game talk in this server, and never linking users to outside groups which provide the same experience
  17.
  18. PINGING ETIQUETTE
  19. -Any single group of players looking for a party shouldn't tag the same role more than once regardless of how much time has passed
  20. -Check recent pings before tagging a role to see if someone's trying to play the same game that you want to ask for
  21. -Don't tag multiple roles across multiple messages, keep them all in one line
  22. -Never tag a role for reasons unrelated to the purpose of said role
  23. -Only tag a role if the game you're looking to play is being played through one of our custom emulators
  24. -Don't tag a role for planning games that you're not able to play at the time of the ping
  25. -If there are other people currently in the chat with a compatible role, try asking them if they want to play before you tag a role
  26. -If you only plan to play with certain people, tag them directly instead of tagging the role
  27. -Don't delete previous pings in an attempt to get away with tagging the same role again
  28.
  29. NON-MUTABLE/NON-BANNABLE
  30. -Lighthearted banter that's mutually enjoyed
  31. -Opinions (incorrectly asserting that Mario Party 7 is good)
  32. -Having a bad connection
  33. -Being too good or bad at Mario Party
  34. -Tauntspam (this is actively encouraged)
  35.
  36. MUTABLE/BANNABLE
  37. -Repeated party-pooping behavior
  38. -Spamming pause, altering the buffer, or intentionally lagging during timing-intensive moments (minigames, menus, chance time)
  39. -Abandoning a party (closing the netplay window mid-turn closes it for everyone; if you want to stop playing, set a CPU replacement and wait until the end of the current turn for the game to save)
  40. -Using a turbo button or other unnatural cheating device or configuration, including emulator features
  41. -Purposely stalling or otherwise interfering with the progression of a party
  42. -Abuse (banter is done with a smile, insults are done with a frown)
  43. -One-sided banter
  44. -Trying to stir up animosity between users (if someone's a problem, DM a mod)
  45. -Going out of your way to bother users
  46. -Mass DMing users
  47. -Doxxing
  48. -Posting NSFW material
  49. -Using a NSFW avatar
  50. -Excessively spamming a text or voice channel (#bot-board may be spammed in within reason, but should still be usable)
  51. -Excessively tagging roles
  52. -Tagging roles without actually planning to play
  53. -Consistently breaking etiquette
  54. -Being an alt account
  55. - Being under 13 (Discord ToS)
  56. -Attempting to evade moderation after breaking a rule
  57. -Trying to be clever and coming as close as possible to breaking these rules without technically breaking them
  58.
  59. EXCEPTIONS
  60. -Party-pooping behavior is acceptable if all partiers give their consent
  61. -In cases where subjectivity is involved, final judgment is at the discretion of active server staff
  62.
  63. NOTES
  64. -Mutes may be for the whole server or individual channels, and may last as long as the server staff see fit (this includes permanent mutes)
  65. -Certain offenses may result in punishment roles being given, to be removed at the server staff's discretion
