  6. [17:24] <Rachel> (Would wild pokemon be allowed on the Railway?)
  7. [17:25] <Marcus> (Wild Pokemon on a railway. What?)
  8. [17:25] <~Garlyle> The region of Altho is a region where travel can be much harsher than in many others. Though diverse, sections of the region are cut off from one another by tall mountains and steep cliffs that make foot travel exceptionally dangerous.
  9. [17:25] <Plutonis> (Guess you are all... Train Trainers)
  10. 06[17:26] * Cole makes his way on-board, looking around the car as he takes a seat; he had said his goodbyes to his family, and now he was on his way out to adventure once more.
  11. [17:26] <~Garlyle> (Wait until I'm done, guys)
  12. [17:26] <Cole> ((Sorry.))
  13. [17:27] <Rachel> (Wild Child. All my pokemon are technically wild)
  14. [17:27] <~Garlyle> For those without the fortune to have a personal flight across the region, there are two options - and the first, manually traversing the mountains, is something only the most dedicated - or crazy - will take.
  15. [17:28] <~Garlyle> The other option, is the Altho National Railways - loops of train lines connecting the many outlying, more rural - or wild - regions of Altho back to the hub that is Ivoryscape City.
  16. [17:30] <~Garlyle> The trains have an old, authentic charm that keeps them very popular; they're build for comfort and to provide full services to the riders - dining cars and sleeping quarters and everything else included.
  17. [17:31] <~Garlyle> They may not be the fastest, or be the most capable in terms of how many people they can support; but many elder citizens of the region consider them something of national treasures, an iconic part of any journey through Altho.
  18. [17:32] <~Garlyle> Tonight...
  19. [17:33] <~Garlyle> (Yes, you may begin. Yes, Pokemon can ride too - though if they cause problems you may find yourself banned from the trains which is obviously a pretty big thing, so you're expected to keep them under control)
  20. [17:33] <~Garlyle> (and you may begin)
  21. [17:33] <Marcus> (Can my Wartortle have his own seat?)

  23. 06[17:33] * Reinhard has his window open and all his IMPECCABLY WELL-BEHAVED pokemon out to smell the air.
  24. [17:34] <Reinhard> "Do you think you will miss the train rides when Odal can fly, brother?"
  25. 06[17:34] * Cole makes his way on-board, looking around the car as he takes a seat; he had said his goodbyes to his family, and now he was on his way out to adventure once more. Once inside of the car, he let Deius out of the pokeball; Deius knew all too well that being rowdy would result in getting put back in his pokeball, so he was on his absolute best behavior.
  26. [17:35] <Kurt> "Mayhaps. They are rather pleasant."
  27. 06[17:35] * Kurt is secretly >:[ because he wanted the window seat.
  28. [17:35] <~Garlyle> (It's an old train. Most seats are window seats because there isn't really that much room!)
  29. 06[17:36] * Marcus shifts slightly not wanting to wake up the scraggy on his lap. His Murkrow is perched on his shoulder staring solemnly out the window. & Next to him his Wartortle is sleeping peacefully, in a funny position with his tail stuck out over the edge.
  30. [17:37] <Cole> After the lengthy internal exposition, Cole makes his way to his seat, Deius sitting with him. Deius looks back, and sees a familiar figure; the large man from the festival! The Dewott extends his hand in greeting over Cole's shoulder. Cole, is...aloof, clearly in thought on things as he looks out the window.

  32. [17:38] <Marcus> "Hmmm, I wonder where I'll end up this time." He mumbles to himself after yawning.
  33. 06[17:39] * Rachel is in the dining car by the window, Violet asleep in her lap. She's quietly enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate while watching the snow fall out the window.
  34. 06[17:40] * Marcus glances around to see if there's anyone to talk to, train rides tend to be rather long and he doesn't want to get bored.
  35. 06[17:40] * Reinhard is his usual HUGE AND JOLLY self.
  36. [17:41] <Cole> Deius keeps his hand extended, and blinks, putting it down as he realizes that Reinhard likely DOESN'T RECOGNIZE HIM.
  37. 06[17:41] * Kurt eyes the sleeping wartortle.
  38. [17:41] <Kurt> "I've never seen a wartortle with black ears and tail before," Kurt says, walking up to Marcus.
  39. [17:43] <~Garlyle> Before long, the travellers have finished boarding, and the conductor's voice comes on over the intercom, following an almost schoolyard-esque bell. "Good evening, ladies, gentlemen, and your Pokemon; we will be departing shortly. Please calm all Pokemon for the beginning of movement, and observe safety procedures - if common sense doesn't tell you
  40. [17:43] <~Garlyle> what those are, feel free to ask an attendant."
  41. [17:43] <Marcus> "Hm? Oh yeah, he's quite cool isn't he?" Marcus beams at the man. "I was just looking for someone to talk to, come now sit down." He pats the seat on the other side of him.
  42. 06[17:44] * Reinhard gently pushes Odal's snappy and scratchy parts until they're closed, otherwise he's fine. The other two are either too smart or too CHILL
  43. 06[17:44] * Kurt lifts an eyebrow. "Well..."
  44. 06[17:44] * Kurt looks back at Reinhard.
  45. [17:44] <Reinhard> "Hrm?"
  46. 06[17:44] * Kurt takes the seat next to Marcus.
  47. [17:44] <~Garlyle> You hear the whistle blow from the front of the train... and then after a couple thuds and thunks, you hear the soft chug of the motor and the feeling of the train starting to move.
  48. [17:44] <Reinhard> "Ha! Call me if you need anything, then."
  49. [17:44] <Kurt> "Very well. I suppose my brother will just have to endure the journey by himself."
  50. 06[17:45] * Cole looks over as the bell sounds, snapped out of whatever memory or thoughts he was or was not recalling, and then looking over towards Deius, bringing him down and into the seat, then glancing back himself. "Hmph. You're the large person. From the festival. The one who got onto me for not drinking alcohol, if I recall correctly."
  51. 06[17:45] * Rachel calls Jet and Garnet away from their roughhousing "Alright you two, time to calm down. We don't want to be thrown off the train again, especially in this weather."
  52. 06[17:45] * Reinhard bends back to look at Cole. "I may very well be that one. If my behavior offended you, well, I suppose that is reason enough not to drink."
  53. [17:46] <Marcus> "He's welcome to join us over here! The more company, the better!" Marcus yells out to catch the other man's attention. "Well, what's your name?" he extends a hand to the boy.
  54. [17:47] <Reinhard> "You heard the invitation! I, for one, will CERTAINLY not refuse!"
  55. 06[17:47] * Kurt rolls his eyes at Reinhard.
  56. 06[17:47] * Cole rolls his eyes. "Nothing offensive. A bit insensitive, perhaps." Deius looks around, seeing Marcus extending his hand in their relative direction, and...extends his hand back towards him, of course!
  57. 06[17:47] * Reinhard practically jumps up and lumbers over to a nearby seat, Yngvi trying his very best to not take up room.
  58. [17:47] <Kurt> "My name is Kurtnir Eckhart Drakebrand von Fraenir. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
  59. 06[17:48] * Kurt takes Marcus hand.
  60. [17:48] <~Garlyle> Rachel: As you're settling down aboard the dining car, you see some other passengers begin to make their way into the dining cars as well.
  61. [17:48] <Kurt> Marcus'*
  62. [17:49] <Marcus> "Such a long name, you have there. I'll just call you Kurt. My name is Marcus, Marcus August." he smiles at the boy, and shakes his hand.
  63. 06[17:49] * Kurt nods. "Yes, Kurt will do."
  64. [17:50] <Marcus> Letting go of Kurt's hand he stretches his arm out to the other boy/man and offers the same greeting.
  65. [17:50] <Cole> Deius drops his hand as he realizes that was not directed to him, and looks around, seeing another pair of free seats near, and taking action, moving over; one of his new year's resolutions, after all, was to not be entirely anti-social. Quite the task.
  66. 06[17:50] * Reinhard shakes his hand OH GOD MUSCLES. STRONG. GRIP. "Reinhard of the very same family."
  67. 06[17:50] * Kurt gives Reinhard an evil WHY DO YOU FOLLOW ME EVERYWHERE YOU GIANT JERK deathglare as soon as Marcus looks away.
  68. 06[17:52] * Cole looks behind him, looking between Reinhard and Kurt. "This is the, uh...the brother, you mentioned before...um...I cannot remember your name."
  69. 06[17:52] * Cole then remembers because it was just said. "Reinhard, right."
  70. [17:52] <Reinhard> "ONE of the brothers! And despite his current temperament, the more well-behaved one."
  71. [17:52] <Marcus> Marcus returns the grip with equal strength despite seemingly having no muscles. "It's great to meet you both!" Marcus laughs at the sibling humor.
  72. 06[17:53] * Cole gives a short nod, and extends his hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Kurt. My name is Cole Rosenburgh."
  73. [17:53] <~Garlyle> As the seats in the dining car fill up, someone talks directly to Rachel, hand on a seat across the table from her. "'Scuse me, m'am, is this seat taken?" It's a young lad in handmade clothes, a pidgey sitting on his shoulder.
  74. [17:53] <Cole> Deius, naturally, extends his hand as well.
  75. 06[17:54] * Kurt shakes Cole's hand.
  76. [17:54] <Kurt> "A pleasure, I'm sure."
  77. 06[17:54] * Rachel looks up at the visitor, and gives him a warm smile. "No, not at all. Be my guest."
  78. 06[17:55] * Cole nods a little bit, then shrugs, and turns back around, Deius still with his arm out for a good ten seconds after before turning around, confused as ever.
  79. 06[17:56] * Kurt stares down at the Dewott. As if he would dare shake the hand of such furred mammalian vermin.
  80. [17:56] <~Garlyle> The youth sits down, nodding to her. "Thank ya kindly," he has a very notably country accent. "Seems all the o'er seats have gone an' filled up, otherwise I wouldn' have intruded on ya."
  81. [17:57] <Marcus> "So where are you two headed?"
  82. [17:57] <Rachel> "Ah, no problem at all. So what's your name?"
  83. [17:57] <Kurt> (Where ARE we headed?)
  84. [17:58] <Reinhard> "We are...well, to be honest, I have very little clue! I do expect to stop at the first town reached containing a gym, though."
  85. [17:58] <Reinhard> "Anywhere but home, you know the idea."
  86. 06[17:58] * Cole gives a short nod, and looks back. "Same place Deius and I are headed, then." Deius turns around, nodding frantically. "OK, Deius, calm down."
  87. [17:58] <Kurt> "I'm just following him and making sure he conducts himself with a modicum of the dignity beffiting the von Fraenir clan."
  88. [17:59] <~Garlyle> (North railway hits a clifftop city, comes down in a far area which is basically a jungle, then heads out towards the northern edge of the ocean and comes back down along it)
  89. [17:59] <Marcus> "Hahahaha! Just like me, I have no idea where this train even goes." Marcus chuckles. "I just love the unknown, I'm sure you do as well right?"
  90. [17:59] <Kurt> (befitting* jesus what is wrong with me)
  91. [17:59] <~Garlyle> (Locations are up to you guys pretty much)
  92. 03[18:00] * castfromhp is now known as Kyril
  93. 06[18:00] * Reinhard grins back. "And I HOPE my little brother is paying attention and learning from to the proper observance of tradition when I do."
  94. [18:00] <Cole> "Other than that...wherever there are answers. I'm thinking this next city may have some kind of clue."
  95. [18:00] <~Garlyle> "Ah, righ'; my apologies. M'name's Lycus, and this is Malus," he points back up to the bird on his shoulder, who looks entirely disinterested. "Yer name?"
  96. [18:00] <Kurt> "I suppose one might as well love the unknown; for there's not much else, especially when on such a journey."
  97. 06[18:00] * Kurt completely ignores Reinhard >:[
  98. [18:00] <Marcus> (Cole where are you exactly?)
  99. [18:01] <Cole> ((Seat in front of you guys.))
  100. [18:01] <Kurt> "Answers? Are you some sort of detective?"
  101. [18:01] <Reinhard> (So I imagine it's cole and reinhard in front, marcus and kurt one row back)
  102. [18:01] <Cole> "Something like that. The answers concern who I really am."
  103. [18:02] <~Garlyle> (Edit because I herped derp: His name is Hans)
  104. [18:02] <~Garlyle> (How the fuck did I even)
  105. 06[18:02] * Kurt rolls his eyes. "Ah, a journey of self discovery! How interesting for you."
  106. [18:02] <Reinhard> (I am not sure)
  107. [18:02] <Marcus> "Oh I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself to you yet! I'm Marcus and you?" He smiles at Cole, whether Cole is looking at him or not.
  108. [18:02] <Rachel> "I'm Rachel, and this here's Violet", pointing to the content sleeper. ". . . And this one's Jet."
  109. [18:02] <Rachel> As she speaks, Jet comes marching up to the table, a jealous glare in his eyes.
  110. [18:03] <Rachel> "Oh calm down you, you're always so serious."
  111. 06[18:03] * Kurt takes out the egg he's been carrying, and begins to gently polish it.
  112. 06[18:03] * Cole now looks over to him, becoming his more somber self again. "Cole Rosenburgh." He looks over to Kurt, seeing the egg, and then pulls his egg out of his pack. "You have one, too?"
  113. [18:04] <Marcus> "Aww cute, an egg. What's in it?"
  114. [18:04] <Kurt> "To be honest, I have completely no clue."
  115. [18:04] <~Garlyle> "Ah. S'nice to meet 'ya," he offers his hand across the table.
  116. [18:05] <Reinhard> "Someone dropped it from a building and we caught it before it hit the ground."
  117. [18:05] <Marcus> "Ooh exciting. Do you know when it will hatch?"
  118. [18:05] <Marcus> "Oh that's terrible! Who would drop an egg?"
  119. 06[18:05] * Reinhard shrugs. "Someone WASTEFUL."
  120. 06[18:05] * Kurt shrugs.
  121. [18:05] <Kurt> "Strange and petty folk abound."
  122. 06[18:06] * Cole looks over. "Someone with no concern for life, that's who."
  123. [18:06] <Kurt> "I'm hoping it shall hatch soon. I do hope it's something worth raising."
  124. [18:06] <~Garlyle> A waiter makes his way over to the table with Rachel and Hans, setting down menus for them and bringing water.
  125. [18:07] <Marcus> "Everything is worth raising!" Marcus smiles warmly.
  126. [18:07] <Rachel> She takes his hand. "You too. So where're you headed to?"
  127. [18:08] <Marcus> "I raised this little guy here since he was an egg." he says as he pats Alfred's head. The scraggy makes a happy sound in his sleep.
  128. [18:08] <Reinhard> "For SOME people, maybe. I... or we, rather, must have STRICTER standards. Ones that, granted, could use some LESSENING for future generations, but that is a whole other matter."
  129. 06[18:08] * Cole looks down. "Indeed. I'm not sure why Professor Pine gave me this egg, but...there has to be a good reason."
  130. 06[18:09] * Kurt studies the scraggy, and nods. "Yes, he looks quite well taken care of. I approve."
  131. [18:09] <~Garlyle> "I've got someone I need t'check up on. Make sure he's not causin' a ruckus for the locals and stuff," Hans shakes her hand firmly, then downs half the glass of water.
  132. 06[18:09] * Kurt approves slightly less of the Murkrow, but at least it's not FURRED MAMMALIAN VERMIN.

  134. [18:10] <Cole> Deius blinks, looking around, and then starts clapping for a moment, but stops after he realizes no one else is clapping.
  135. [18:11] <Marcus> "Standards? For raising Pokemon? Well I guess I sort of understand, all of my Pokemon being of a similar kind(dark)." He smiles at Kurt's comment. "Well of course, they're all as important to me, as... myself!" he nods at his three Pokemon.
  136. [18:11] <Rachel> "Ah, menus! I could use a quick bite" She continues the conversation while perviewing the menu, despite the fact she probably knows it all already.
  137. 06[18:11] * Kurt nods. "A commendable attitude."
  138. [18:11] <Rachel> "So, checking up on a fried. Does he often cause trouble?"
  139. [18:11] <Rachel> (*friend)
  140. [18:12] <Marcus> (fried chicken)
  141. [18:12] <Rachel> (I assume there's a for-pokemon section on the menu?)
  142. [18:12] <Cole> ((I check up on my fries all the time. Then I eat them.))
  143. [18:12] <Kurt> "Your wartortle and scraggy would suit my standards. Perhaps not Reinhard's though."
  144. [18:13] <~Garlyle> "He's a li'l troublemaker, yeah," he starts looking down the menu. "Well, more o' a big pest, really, though it ain' like he starts stuff deliberately."
  145. 06[18:13] * Cole shrugs a little bit. "It's never really mattered to me what kind of Pokemon it was. Despite my...certain affinities."
  146. [18:13] <Marcus> "Oh? What's wrong with Henry?" the Murkrow turns to Kurt and squacks, as if he knew he was being looked down upon.
  147. [18:13] <Reinhard> "You UNDERESTIMATE me, brother, though it is only fair--after all, if I DEVIATED you would certainly not tell our parents until it has been ASCENDED."
  148. [18:14] <Marcus> "Deviated? Ascended?"
  149. [18:14] <Cole> (("Metal Gear?!))
  150. 06[18:14] * Reinhard suddenly realizes he is in public again. "Oh! Er. Our family owns a ranch, you see. We raise dragons."
  151. [18:14] <Cole> ((Sorry.))
  152. 06[18:15] * Kurt looks at the Murkrow. "Bird pokemon are majestic in their own way, but I don't think they're quite my style."
  153. 06[18:15] * Reinhard points up to a...wait, does that metang have scales? what the hell. "Yngvi here was really more of a childhood escapade before I had the chance to use THE GIFT."
  154. 06[18:15] * Cole nods a little, as though he finally gets it. "Oh, that would explain your pokemon..."
  155. [18:16] <~Garlyle> The waiter comes back, taking an order from Rachel and Hans; the latter of whom orders himself a steak.
  156. 06[18:16] * Kurt sighs. "Reinhard, you're still not explaining everything. By deviated, he means ... well, raising UNACCEPTABLE pokemon. However, Reinhard, like many members of my family, has the ability to ASCEND pokemon to proper draconic strength."
  157. [18:16] <Marcus> "Sounds nice. My family also owns a farm, but they raise all assortments of Pokemon." Marcus looks over at Yngvi, with noticable excitement. "Oh what's that? How is he....? The Gift?"
  158. [18:16] <~Garlyle> (Perceptions from the four of you who are busy being chatty)

  174. [18:18] <Kurt> "To my eternal shame, it's true. But I'm a much better breeder than Diedrich or Reinhard ever were."
  175. 06[18:18] * Kurt smugface.
  176. [18:18] <Marcus> Marcus is very perplexed "What is this ascension, or gift? And I see what you mean now, you all raise just Dragon Pokemon."
  177. [18:19] <Kurt> "Well, not exactly only dragons."
  178. 06[18:19] * Kurt lets out his Larvitar.
  179. [18:19] <Cole> Deius stops clapping, and looks over to the Larvitar, blinking.
  180. [18:20] <Kurt> "Jenny here, though not of draconic typing, is more than worthy."
  181. [18:20] <Marcus> "Well they seem strong, but not as.... cute? No offense, I'm just partial to cute." Marcus reaches over and rubs William's outstretched tail.
  182. [18:20] <Rachel> "I'll have the Torchic Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and corn for sides, and two orders of pokechow for the gang"
  183. [18:20] <Reinhard> "What we sell is ever so slightly more open than what we use. Or closed, for that matter. Of course there are Gyarados in the lake, and Tyranitar and Charizard in the mountains, that sort of thing, some of which do inherit typing from ascended forebears."
  184. [18:20] <Kurt> "Hmph. Jenny is very cute, as are all my pokemon. They are most certainly in the top percentage of cute."
  185. [18:21] <~Garlyle> The waiter nods, taking note of the orders, and heads out to the kitchen.
  186. [18:21] <Rachel> Turning back to Hans, "Well, sounds like a lot of fun."
  187. 06[18:21] * Kurt lets out Wendy and Riley as well - an Aron and Horsea.
  188. [18:21] <Marcus> "Oh I take that back! Jenny is very cute!" Marcus smiles at Jenny, you can tell he means it.
  189. [18:21] <Cole> ((Gold and Silver reference!))
  190. 06[18:21] * Kurt picks up the horsea and carries it on his lap.
  191. [18:22] <~Garlyle> "Yeah, it is. Glad t'see family and all that," he nods. "An' yerself? If ye don't mind me askin."
  192. [18:22] <Marcus> "You're right! They're all very cute!" Marcus is delighted to see cute pokemon.
  193. 06[18:22] * Cole shrugs and lets out Axon and Athena; his Sandshrew and Ralts.
  194. [18:23] <Cole> Athena soon hides behind Cole's egg from everyone, while Axon, the Sandslash, sniffs around.
  195. 06[18:23] * Reinhard has had a metang hovering above him and a grovyle sitting around this entire time, as well as a bagon occasionally peeking out and barking.
  196. [18:23] <Rachel> "Oh, just taking a short trip, seeing the sights. I like to get out every once in awhile. There's so many wonderful places to go all over Altho."
  197. [18:23] <Marcus> he looks over at Reinhard's pokemon. Not so much your brother's though... no offense. They're cool. Anyway, please you must tell me, how is your metang like that?" He eyes the metang curiously.
  198. [18:24] <Reinhard> "Well you see, I sort of flex and stare VERY HARD at it, PUSHING it to become a PROPER DRAGON. And it does."
  199. [18:25] <Cole> Axon, being quite the curious type, looks over towards the Bagon, and *shock* blinks at it.
  200. [18:25] <Reinhard> Bark.
  201. [18:25] <Marcus> "That sounds ridiculous." Marcus laughs. "Oh wait, that's odd. So you did something similar to when my William changed? He wasn't always like this, especially not when he was a cute little Squirtle."
  202. [18:26] <Kurt> "I was wondering if his change was due to something similar."
  203. [18:26] <Reinhard> "There is an illustrated manual dating back to the middle ages on the process, but we take very special care NEVER to catch it on video."
  204. [18:26] <Marcus> (You can't see his eyes but they're red, instead of the normal brown.)
  205. 06[18:26] * Cole looks to Reinhard, raising an eyebrow. Deius does the exact same thing, at the exact same time. "Y'mean you stare at your pokemon until it changes?"
  206. [18:27] <Kurt> "IT's pretty hard to see with Wendy here, but she too has ascended."
  207. 06[18:27] * Kurt hgggggggns and picks up the Aron, which ... looks mostly like a normal Aron, except with purple eyes instead of blue.
  208. [18:27] <Marcus> "Which one was Wendy again?"
  209. [18:28] <Reinhard> "More than that, there is BEAUTIFUL lightning and explosions involved, but really, yes, that is the core of it."
