Strands of Fate game possibility I guess

  3. I'm considering running an additional game over the summer, beside my current L5R game. This game will be a bit different than most. Instead of having a set time, I'm going to be focusing almost completely on pickup sessions with whoever is around at the time. The game will be more or less entirely player-driven, with a focus on how your characters want to go about living in the world they've been thrust into. I will be doing as little planning in advance as possible, and this game will be in part a way for me to practice my improv GMing as well as just to have a fun thing to do whenever there's a couple of us around feeling gamer withdrawal. I will likely be using Strands of Fate for this game. I am seeking up to 6 players who are willing to try this out.

  5. There is currently NO GUARANTEE this game will go ahead. At best it is three weeks out, more likely 5. This game starting will be contingent on whether the L5R game gets a solid start on its second arc. Please contain your hype levels.

  7. The game will require you to make a strands of fate character using the standard rules but with 4 character aspects rather than 5. Characters should fit into a modern (1990s-present) pre-modern (1930s-1980s) or immediately post-modern setting (think modern, but maybe a few steps closer to cyberpunk. Maybe google glass actually came out and AR is A Thing, or they finally created holograms made of solid light and have revolutionized the anime industry. Or there's a moonbase.) The game will feature Sci-fi and trans-humanist elements and themes, so be prepared for that. I'd appreciate feedback on whether players would like magic or psychic shit to be a thing on the whole, but don't worry about it for now.

  13. THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN MAKING CHARACTERS:
  14. 1. What does my character have to offer the wider world? What 'good' are they good at?
  15. 2. What views does my character hold on life and death? How is my character most likely to die?
  16. 3. What does my character have to lose? Who does my character have to lose?
  17. 4. If my character was sitting on top of a mountain and mistaken for a wise man, what wisdom would they bestow upon the seeker?
  18. 5. Does my character like their job? What is my character's dream job?

  20. Rules for Character Aspects:
  21. 1. avoid region-specific ones.
  22. 2. avoid equipment-specific ones at first. Feel free to 'save' a slot for an equipment specific one and I'll provide you with an appropriate device after the first session.

  25. Commoner, but you got 3 advantage points and you can have heroic advantages I GUESS
